Since Human Leukocyte Antigen-G (HLA-G) gene is involved in fetal maternal immune tolerance, mutations in the HLA-G gene can affect the success rate of pregnancy. Objective: The present study aims to investigate the haplotype effect of rs1736933 and rs2735022 polymorphisms found in the HLA-G gene on the RPL. Methods In this case-control study, participants were 100 women with RPL and 80 women with normal fertility in northwestern Iran. The HLA-G gene promoter was amplified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and sequenced. The genotype and allele frequencies of the two polymorphisms were compared between the two groups by using t-test in SPSS software version 22. Haplotype analysis was performed using PHASE 2.1 and Haploview 4.2 applications Findings: C allele and CC genotype in rs2735022 polymorphism and the G allele and GG genotype in rs1736933 polymorphism showed a significant association with the RPL (P<0.05). Frequency of haplotypes AA, AC, GA, GC were 0.72, 0.23, 0.01, 0.03 in patients and 0.39, 0.01, 0.02, 0.59 in the control group (P<0.05). The linkage disequilibrium score was 94. Conclusion: Analysis of GC haplotype in rs2735022 and rs1736933 polymorphisms of the HLA-G gene can be helpful in genetic studies of women with RPL.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"398-409"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47660780","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective This study aims to investigate the effect of an eight-week High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program on serum Cardiac troponin I (CtnI) level in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Methods: In this experimental clinical trial, 30 rats were randomly assigned into three groups of healthy Control (C), Diabetic (D), and diabetic+training (D+T). The third group performed the training which included a treadmill running at an intensity of 85%-90% of maximum speed in 6-12 sessions of 2 min for 8 weeks, 5 days per week. Blood glucose level and high-sensitive CtnI levels were measured 48 hours after the last training session and 12 hours of fasting. One-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test were used to analyze the collected data, considering a significance level of P<0.05. Findings: The induction of diabetes caused a significant increase in blood glucose (P=0.01) and high-sensitive CtnI (P=0.01) levels in the D group. Also, a significant difference was observed in the blood glucose level of D+T group compared to the D group (P=0.001). The CtnI level also slightly reduced (11%) in the D+T group compared to the D group, but it was not statistically significant (P=0.591). Conclusion: he HIIT program can reduce the fasting blood glucose and increase the serum level of high-sensitive CtnI to some extent in diabetic rats; therefore, it can be an appropriate strategy for diabetics. However, there is a need for more studies in this area.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"386-397"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43983601","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Oxidative stress is involved in the seizure-induced brain damage. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the anticonvulsant and antioxidant effects of pioglitazone (a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma agonist used for treatment of type 2 diabetes) on Pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)-induced seizure in rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 28 rats weighing 20-30 g were divided into four groups of control, pioglitazone, PTZ, and treatment. For treatment, PTZ (85 mg/kg) or normal saline was injected intraperitoneally and 4 hours later, pioglitazone (80 mg/kg) was administrated orally. Carboxymethylcellulose was administered orally in the control and PTZ groups, instead of pioglitazone. One hour after PTZ injection, seizure severity was assessed using Racine scale. Then, the rats were decapitated and the Malondialdehyde (MDA) level and the activity of Catalase (CAT) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) in their hippocampus samples were measured by standard methods. Findings: Pioglitazone administration significantly increased the latency to the onset of seizure stages 1-4 and prevented the stage 5. It significantly reduced the lipid peroxidation caused by PTZ-induced seizure and increased the activity of CAT and SOD enzymes in the hippocampus of rats. Conclusion: Antioxidant effects of pioglitazone may play a role in preventing stable PTZ-induced seizures and protecting neurons from seizure-caused damage.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"320-331"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45481269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: The current study aims to investigate of the activity of liver enzymes in women with chronic low back pain following core stability exercises and vitamin D intake. Methods: This clinical trial was conducted on 48 women (Mean±SD of age=36.59±5.50 years) in 2019 selected by using a convenience sampling method. They were randomly divided into four groups of control, vitamin D, exercise and combined (exercise +vitamin D). The last two exercise groups performed 8 weeks of core stability exercises with different intensities. The vitamin D and combined groups received 50,000 IU/week of vitamin D for 8 weeks. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activities were measured before and after the interventions. Data were analyzed by using paired t-test and one-way ANOVA. Findings: Eight weeks of core stability exercises, vitamin D intake, and the combined exercise and vitamin D supplementation caused a significant reduction in the activity of AST, ALT, and ALP enzymes. The combined intervention induced more reduction in the AST and ALP activities compared to other two groups received exercise and supplementation alone, and the decrease in ALT activity following the combined intervention was higher compared to the exercise group. Conclusion: It seems that the core stability exercises, vitamin D intake, and combination of exercise and vitamin D supplementation can improve liver function in women with chronic low back pain who have vitamin D deficiency by reducing the activity of liver enzymes. The combined intervention has greater effectiveness in improving liver function.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"332-345"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48559280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-γ (PPARγ) play a crucial role in regulating insulin sensitivity and may serve as potential therapeutic targets for AD. Pioglitazone (PIOG), as a PPARγ agonist, reduces β-amyloid and tau proteins, and inhibits neuroinflammation. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effects of PIOG chronic administration on learning and memory in rat model of Streptozotocin (STZ)-induced AD Methods: Forty-two male Wistar rats were divided into two groups: A. Normal rats divided into three subgroups of Control, Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO), and PIOG; and B. AD rats divided into four subgroups of Vehicle, STZ, STZ+DMSO and STZ+PIOG. The last two AD subgroups received 0.2 mL DMSO and PIOG (10 mg/kg per day) for 21 days. For induction of AD, STZ (3 mg/kg, 10 μl per injection site) were administered into lateral ventricles. All rates were trained under the Morris water maze task. Findings: PIOG impaired the spatial learning and memory in normal rats. Intracerebroventricular injection of STZ significantly increased escape latency and swimming time to find the hidden platform compared to the control group (P<0.05). The amnesic effect of STZ was prevented by PIOG administration such that the escape latency and swimming time to find the hidden platform in the STZ+PIOG group were significantly lower than in the STZ+DMSO group (P<0.05). Conversely, the percentage of time spent and distance swimming in the target quadrant in the probe test in the STZ+ PIOG group rats were significantly higher than those in the STZ + DMSO group. Conclusion: PIOG administration impaired spatial learning and memory in normal rats, but improved learning and memory in rats with STZ-induced AD. It can be useful for treatment of cognitive impairment in AD patients.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"294-307"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46870466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Delay in timely implementation of reperfusion is one of the key problems in the management of STEMI. In this review study, the aim is to investigate the role of pre-hospital and hospital emergency staff in time management of STEMI. For this purpose, the articles published 1999-2019 with available full texts in ProQuest, SID, Science Direct, Google Scholar and Scopus databases were searched using the keywords: Pre-hospital Emergency, Hospital Emergency, Primary Angioplasty, Time Management, Ischemia, and Acute Myocardial Infarction. A total of 59 articles in Persian and English (from 10 different countries) covering both qualitative and quantitative studies were initially yielded. Those which were not a review paper and their full texts were unavailable were excluded from the review. Faster reperfusion reduces the cardiac necrosis area, resulting in reduced morbidity and mortality. Early ECG recording by the pre-hospital emergency team followed by the activation of the code STEMI by the emergency team can increase the speed of diagnosis, decision making, and transfer of the STEMI patient to receive the best treatment.","PeriodicalId":22748,"journal":{"name":"The Journal of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences","volume":"24 1","pages":"374-385"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48909419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
