The knowledge and the need of sustainable energy is evolving globally and so is evidence of increase consumption as long as the energy is available and affordable to the citizens. It has been positioned that Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) should adopt a step-by-step approach to understand consumer behaviour when making an argument for sustainable energy. It has further been established that when structuring environmental values in sustainability debate, it is paramount to apply IMC to spread awareness. There exists laxity on issues such as consumer willingness, awareness, buying decision, knowledge gap, environmental benefits, costing (operation, installation and maintenance) of alternative energy products. This paper argues for the need for adopting the established five phases comprising of “behaviour selection, user orientation, communication, elements of intervention and measurement of behavioural changes”. Given the dynamics of Consumer Behaviour (CB) in the selection of energy products and the awareness created by IMC, the paper proposes the use of both positivism (deductive) and interpretivism (inductive) as a research philosophy while recognising the limitations imposed by data collection and reliability in the Global South (GS). This paper builds on the inadequacy and inability of the hitherto existing CB theories to adequately explain what drives consumer decision process to buy a product or service, by offering the practiced and tested 4Ps of marketing (that is Product, Price, Place, and Promotion). The discussion in the paper argues that the economic development of Nigeria’s future depends on the long-term availability of affordable, open and harmless energy for the ecosystem, and that security, climate change and general well-being are closely related to the underpinning energy policy. It further argues for the need for sustainable energy policy in electricity generation capacity, grid connection, electricity transmission, while highlighting the limited range of alternative energy generation. The paper concludes that alternative energy, energy efficiency, asset analysis and valuations are prerequisite to determine the energy potential of Nigeria in her pursuit for sustainable development under the right policy regime. Finally, the paper recommends the promotion and awareness of alternative energies and energy efficiency leveraging on global partnerships for finance and creative alliance. Given the differences in cultural, economic and lifestyle of over 200 million Nigerians, future work will include collection of exhaustive primary data using a survey questionnaire and analytical tools i","PeriodicalId":227467,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Business Strategies","volume":"8 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120896281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employs a positivist epistemological positioning approach to capture the perceptions of stakeholders in the geo-political zones of Nigeria. In all, 240 survey questionnaires were administered to the randomly selected samples of project stakeholders, out of which 180 completed and usable questionnaires (representing 75% response) were retrieved. Secondary data were collected through a systematic review of relevant scholarly publications. Descriptive statistical (Relative Importance Index, RII) tool was used along with SPSS version 26 for primary data analysis. Findings of the study revealed that every leadership style has its impact on the climate of the project and project lifecycle, hence there is no single ‘best’ style of project leadership. Furthermore, empirical results of the study identified integrity, technical expertise, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, risk management, decision making, goal setting, delegation, and team building as major project leadership qualities. Therefore, this study strongly recommends that project leaders should develop and strengthen leadership qualities in order to successfully complete projects and meet stakeholders’ expectations.","PeriodicalId":227467,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Business Strategies","volume":"220 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123246543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The vast majority of the Nigerian federal government's income come from the Niger-Delta area. However, because of the oil spill from the oil pipeline vandalism and the oil and gas operations of oil companies, this region experiences a variety of deteriorating problems, such as poverty, unemployment, environmental degradation, and lack of infrastructure, displacement of indigenes. This paper aims to critically analyse the various manifestations of oil pipeline vandalism in the Delta region of Nigeria, the potential causes of these oil pipeline vandalism, and the consequences of these oil pipeline vandalism in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of the issue and make recommendations to address the problems identified. The paper used a systems thinking (ST) approach, which is necessary for capturing the involvement of host communities and oil and gas companies in causing oil spillages in the Niger Delta region. The oil pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta is the result of complex interactions between host communities, oil and gas activities, and the surrounding environments. ST is a qualitative technique that seeks to understand this relationship holistically. In order to convey unbiased insights and understanding of the causes of oil pipeline vandalism as experienced in the Niger Delta, ST enables the application of Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) usage to capture the problem as a whole. The data collected from the literature review were analysed using computerised simulation software as Stella Architect®. Additionally, data were analysed to draw the conclusion that oil pipeline vandalism is a significant cause of oil spills in Niger Delta region, which has resulted in an ongoing rise in oil pipeline incidents, deaths from fire explosions, and negative socio-economic effects. However, the main motivation for oil pipeline vandalism is the need for the inhabitants to survive since the government and oil and gas companies have fallen short of their residents' expectations. Therefore, this paper concluded that there is need for a sustainable management strategy that can handle the issues of oil pipeline vandalism in the oil-producing region using the Nigeria Niger Delta as a case study.","PeriodicalId":227467,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Business Strategies","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131772190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Energy, and most importantly oil and gas plays an important role in the economic development. The downstream sector demonstrates a lack of adequate petroleum refining regulation in some countries such as Nigeria, which has resulted in environmental pollution and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions that have continued to impair environmental sustainability in the country. The wastes generated from petroleum refineries are in the form of gases, particles and liquid effluent, which becomes hazardous to the environment and to human health. The development of MR is one of the best, if not the only, option for making global south nations self-sufficient in domestic demand and net exporters of petroleum products. Literature in public domain have narrated various issues in respect of the theme of this paper as noted below. The oil and gas industry is essential to the global economy and the activities of the oil and gas companies have a huge effect on the world and the environment. Oil refineries in Nigeria are responsible for 4% of global CO2 emission and 24% in GHG emissions resulting in health and environmental issues. National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) detects and responds to oil spill according to Government Regulations. Regulatory standing in Nigeria stipulates that environmental impact assessments (EIA) is a prerequisite before, during and after oil and gas refinery projects In order to cut GHG emissions that achieve global temperature rise of 1.5 -2 0 C, Global North are reducing reliance on oil. Global South (GS) countries including Nigeria plan to increase MR installation in order to increase both domestic availability of oil and the oil sector contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). MR are viable option in inaccessible location or rural areas, especially where oil supply is inadequate to meet daily consumption demand. The methodology for this study uses interpretivism as an innovative research philosophy, allowing for the development of a sustainable environmental framework. The key considerations for developing an environmental sustainability framework for modular refinery in GS can be encapsulated under the indices of stringency, compliance and transparency. One limitation of the indices would be over-reliance of GS on oil revenue. This paper argues the need for urgent diversification in the GS. Summarily, all the three indices needs detailing when adopting the proposed framework in the oil and gas sector of the GS. Future work will include the collection of primary data from key stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to ascertain the effectiveness of the proposed framework for MR. Further study to include financial evaluations for MR framework in terms of its economic feasibility will also be desirable.","PeriodicalId":227467,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Innovative Business Strategies","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115647912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These products are continuously manufactured and introduced to large fanfares annually. They potentially carry with them great promise for business organizations and consumers. When value is delivered and overall promise is achieved, positive return on assets (RoA) benefits result (Liu, Yeung, Lo & Cheng, 2014). Despite their organizations’ prestigious reputations and vast investments, the frequency and the cost of failed technology products make these occurrences intriguing and concerning (Wong, Lee & Tshai, 2012; Stratopoulos & Lim, 2010). Smart and high-performing organizations such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft face these failures and are unable to prevent them. Our study sought to answer the question: Are consumer IT product failures the result of misalignment of Business and IT domains? We contacted a sample of 25 IT professionals. The data collection included three rounds of questionnaires. Our findings showed shortage of strategy culture. To treat the shortage, we proposed a framework of behavioristic nature. It focuses on the cultural aspects of the relationship between the domains instead of infrastructure and processes.
