Mainly, noise and intensity in homogeneity are two main characteristics that lead to gaps (missing at edges) at the boundary of the desired object. This paper investigated method that managed to smooth the image texture in order to overcome the gaps problem. Our method adopts the morphological closing operations using the diamond-shape structuring elements to overcome the above-mentioned problem. We applied the dilation and erosion operation to expand and later smooth the regions with gaps. Our method shows satisfaction results when dealing with binary image rather than working with gradient. The results obtained shows better accuracy as the evolving curve is following the pixels value in the binary image. The method proposed is executed based on the output from Local binary fitting energy.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122267704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most smart phones have a camera and the QR reader is easy to install and is available for different platforms. Therefore, the simplicity of this type of code makes it effective in many fields. This paper presents the idea of using QR codes combined with a mobile telephone in religious tourism. Generally, the religious ritual has a set of ordered activities which visitors must follow exactly. QR codes will help the visitors to follow the ordered steps and help them to find information quickly without requiring them to search in any printed brochure. We choose the pilgrimage to the holy city, Mecca in Saudi Arabia, as an example to apply our idea.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132538078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bit selection for partial encryption is applied in this paper to show haw can match applications requirements without the overhead of full encryption. The suggested encryption process can be performed during the image compression process, which is based on wavelet transform. The technique is built to reduce the encryption time and keep the compliant with the wavelet format. Hadith provides a Gold Standard \"ground truth\" for Artificial Intelligent (AI) knowledge extraction and knowledge representation experiments. In the present study, the extracted Islamic knowledge represented the focal point of the research; three famous books in Hadith science framed the corpus of the study. This study attempted to explore new approach to classify Hadith using a combination of the expert system and data mining techniques to classify Hadith according to its validity degree (Sahih, Hasan, Da'eef and Maudo'), the proposed Hadith Classifier model was built through learning process, Decision Tree (DT) classifier modeling had been represented by the tree structure model, and the attributes of the instances originally were obtained from the source books. Whilst some attributes were indicated as null values, or missing values. A novel mechanism called missing data detector (MDD) was employed to handle these missing data. This mechanism simulated the Isnad verification methods in Hadith science. The results of the research were compared with the resource books, concurrently with the point of view of the experts in the Hadith science. The findings of the research showed that the performance of DT Hadith classifier had significant effect with MDD, the CCR was sharply increased from (50.1502 %) to (97.597%) Furthermore, the favorable obtained results indicated that the DT Modeling is a viable approach to classify Hadith due to the ease of rules induction and results interpretation.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130059435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To understand this view, we start with real world images which have varying degree of image quality that almost invariably require processing to improve image contrast. For this purpose, histogram equalization including its variants is a frequently relied upon technique. HE processes image by calculating pixel density of its constituent gray levels. This mathematical model, described by HE, is neither linked to contrast nor is contrast directly included in HE equations. Therefore, the study aims to find out the factual nature of transformation functions used by HE. To understand these mathematical calculations thoroughly, the paper dismantles HE into it's building blocks. These blocks are, then, critically analyzed to understand the true relationship between HE fundamentals and contrast. This analysis' determines that HE manipulates density - not contrast - which, in turn, achieves density changes but no contrast enhancement. Hence the study concludes that HE is not a valid contrast enhancement technique.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130692251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodology supports the migration of execution entities among nodes during runtime. Within this approach the execution and memory states of a process are transferred dynamically from one node to another in the distributed system. Some other techniques are essentially required in order to achieve migration. These techniques are suspending, check pointing, and resuming the transferred process.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130932145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to fault tolerance and scalability feature, Map Reduce distributed data processing architecture has now become the choice for data-intensive analysis in the clouds. Recently Mapruduce is used as a service or for setting up one's own Map reduce cluster. In this paper we evaluate the architecture and performance of different Map Reduce framework, such as AzureMapreduce built using the Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, Cloud Map Reduce(CMR) built on top of Amazon cloud OS. We belief that the techniques we discussed in this paper are general enough that would encouraged others to use them in other applications. Our survey would definitely open an promising approach to improve Map Reduce performance for Cloud Computing.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133571231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus in this work, we have explored the Compact Composite Descriptors (CCD) approach, which enables to reduce the size of image features without affecting the visual content of the image. The proposed approach has two phases. First is to identify and extract the features, by applying Colour Layout Descriptor (CLD), Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and Fourier Descriptor (FD). The second phase is employed to compare the similarity distance between the query images with the image in database, using the Euclidean Distance. The evaluation results show that, the proposed approach has been able to address the issues mentioned earlier.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131421450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gestures have long been considered as an interaction technique that can potentially deliver more natural, creative and intuitive methods for communicating with our computers. This paper provides a summary of previous surveys done in this area and focuses on the different application domain which employs hand gestures for efficient interaction. The use of hand gestures as a natural interface serves as a motivating force for research in gesture taxonomies, its representations and recognition techniques. Also provides an analysis of existing literature related to gesture recognition systems for human computer interaction by categorizing it based on different parameters. The main goal of this survey is to provide researchers in the field with a summary of progress achieved to date and to help identify areas where further research is needed.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117038271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem with current medical institutions are that most of them have variety of systems across various departments where most of the systems have existing and incompatible database management system that are tied together in a network. All these systems stored patients' information in an isolated and stand-alone environment and as such, a user who wish to use the system would have to log-in and log-out from one system to another in order to monitor or trace a patient's medical record. To overcome the problem above, we proposed an integration of heterogeneous medical databases that can eliminate data duplication and save cost, and at the same time can assist medical experts either before or after a surgery.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117171959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
