Generally, the concept of BI is confusing, yet, it can be defined as the acquisition and utilization of fact-based knowledge to improve a business strategic and tactical advantage in marketplace. Based on this understanding, a lot of organizations have implemented BI systems within their firm and many others on the way to implement it as well. However, there are some challenges and drawbacks face organizations and prevent them from obtaining the optimal benefits from BI systems; perhaps the most obvious reason is organizations' readiness toward BI systems. This paper, discusses the term BI from different views, presents the concepts and ideas behind its applications and systems, and it gives more enlightening about the pros and cones of BI with a high focus on implementation challenges.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117152908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, it is possible to complete tasks on-the-go, without the need of computer. One of the facilities provided is the mechanism to buy flight tickets via mobile phones. However, in the development phase, often poor consideration of end-users' usability requirements leads to under utilization of such facility, thus decreasing potential profit of companies. The purpose of this work is to investigate usability problems for mobile flight booking applications on touch-screen phones and suggest solutions. Main expectations of users are presented from HCI (Human Computer Interaction) perspective and discussed through a case study. Questionnaire and interview methods were used for collecting data. Paper prototype has also been utilized to verify users' expectations of mobile flight booking more accurately. Results reveal that the users are very much concerned with the easiness and the lucidness of functions. Usability is a highly considerable subject for users to prefer a mobile flight booking application over booking tickets via online/ or agencies.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127122324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The interoperability among these services is achieved by various standard protocols. In recent years, several researches suggested that process algebras provide a satisfactory assistance to the whole process of web services development. Business transactions, on the other hand, involve the coordination and interaction between multiple partners. With the emergence of web services, business transactions are conducted using these services. The coordination among the business processes is crucial, so is the handling of faults that can arise at any stage of a transaction. BPEL models the behavior of business process interaction by providing a XML based grammar to describe the control logic required to coordinate the web services participating in a process flow. However BPEL lacks a proper formal description where the composition of business processes cannot be formally verified. Process algebra, on the other hand, facilitates a formal foundation for rigorous verification of the composition. This paper presents a comparison of web service composition between BPEL and process algebra, cCSP.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127260531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, network coding also reduce energy usage in wireless devices. However, while network coding improve throughput of network it also introduce side effect such as increasing on buffer capacity and delay. In this paper, an evolutionary approach is proposed to optimize the advantages and disadvantages of network coding in a network. The simulation result shows that evolutionary algorithm is able to search multipath with minimal usage of coding nodes to balance the overhead and throughputs of network.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115587681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper shows that the proposed system consists of three main steps: document representation, classifier construction and performance evaluation. In the first step, a set of pre-classified documents is provided. Input documents are initially pre-processed in order to be split into features and eliminate non-informative features. The remaining features are next weighted based on the frequency of each feature in that document and standardized by reducing a feature to its root using the stemming process. Due to the large number of features even after the non-informative features removal and the stemming process, the proposed system applies specific thresholds to extract distinct features which represent the input document. In the second step, the text categorization model (classifier) is built by learning the distinct features which represent all the pre-classified documents, this process can be achieved by using one of the supervised classification techniques that is called the rough set theory. The model uses a pair of precise concepts from the above theory that are called lower and upper approximations to classify any test document into one or more of main categories and sub-categories. In the final step, the performance of the proposed system is evaluated. It has achieved good results up to 96%, when applied to a number of test documents for each sub-category of main categories.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122409680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Artificial Immune Network (AIN) is one of the computationally intelligent systems that are inspired by the processes of the immune system. Many algorithms are used to exploit the immune system's characteristics of learning and memory. The aiNet is one of such AIS algorithms with excellent performance on elementary clustering tasks. This paper proposes the use of two clustering techniques (DBSCAN and K-MEANS) in combination with aiNet algorithm for medical diagnosis. Two standard data sets are used to evaluate the clustering performance. The results indicate that both clustering techniques produced closely related outcomes under the usage of aiNet algorithm. However, K-means showed higher accuracy and better percentage of total clustering than DBSCAN for both data sets.","PeriodicalId":224257,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science Applications and Technologies (ACSAT)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125671582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
