Kanosue","doi":"10.55860/kqyq5983","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.55860/kqyq5983","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: Purpose of this study was to elucidate the differences in sprint performance between two different conditions in the 60 m dash: subjects ran alone (Alone Condition: AC) or two runners competed side-by-side (Competitive Condition: CC). Methods: Subjects were twenty-six male university sprinters. They were asked to perform two 60 m dash, the AC and CC, with maximal effort from crouching start. Running spatiotemporal variables were obtained from video images taken with two digital high-speed cameras. Results: Running speed (AC: 9.34 ± 0.45 mžs-1 vs CC: 9.40 ± 0.43 mžs-1, p = .011) and step length (AC: 2.04 ± 0.12 m vs CC: 2.06 ± 0.10 m, p = .021) in the maximal speed section (30-60m) were significantly increased in the CC. However, there was no significant difference in step frequency (AC: 4.58 ± 0.26 Hz vs CC: 4.57 ± 0.27 Hz, p = .595). There was no significant difference in any variables in the acceleration section (0-30m). Conclusion: These results indicate that running with a competitor improves running speed with increasing step length in the maximal speed section but does not affect performance in the acceleration section. We concluded that competition improves sprint performances in the maximal speed section.","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"115 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114385180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The subjects performed 3 training sessions in volleyball court per week for 8 weeks. The subjects implemented 3 testing stages (before starting, mid and after 8 weeks) including Vertical Jump, Illinois, Pro-agility and T Agility Tests, Shuttle run 300-yard, Side jumps in 60 second and, finally, Hand grip. Between-group changes were assessed using repeated measure analysis. There were not significant differences between group-time interaction effect, in Vertical jump (p ˃ .05), Agility time (p ˃ .05), Power endurance (p ˃ .05) and Special aerobic endurance (p ˃ .05). This means that there were not significant differences between the groups in improving practical training factors; but Time effect was significant (p ˂ .05). In addition, Block periodization showed higher means in the strength of arm and forearm at the end of protocol.","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116266410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Athletes rely on sports nutrition supplements: ergogenic and dietary supplements; these supplements fulfill the nutritional requirements, save time and achieve health goals. Many athletes don't have sufficient knowledge related to the safety of using ergogenic supplements. There are various ergogenic supplements used by athletes but excess of these supplements has been linked to major health problems. Dietary supplements are more nutritious and safer than ergogenic supplements. They are not a prescription medicine and to cure illnesses of the athletes.","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131996363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, the objective of this review was to describe the effect of Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) in this population, reporting the results published in the literature on physical, psychosocial and cognitive function. After a review of 160 articles, 5 were selected according to selection criteria, demonstrating that AAT is an effective therapy in people with mild to moderate cognitive impairment, where the dog is the most used co-therapist, however, research is still incipient.","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123131822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A bioimpedance test was carried out to determine the different tissues and an incremental treadmill stress test with a gas analyser to establish the different physiological parameters. The results showed significant differences in terms of heart rate (HR) in the different thresholds (ventilatory threshold 1, ventilatory threshold 2 and maximum oxygen consumption) and in the speed reached in these (p < .05). On the other hand, with respect to body composition (muscle mass weight, % fat mass and fat weight), no significant differences were observed between the different groups analysed (p > .05).","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134023930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective was to evaluate contraceptive practices, menstrual patterns and contraceptive counselling in these athletes. Overall, 115 women aged between 18 and 39 years were studied, from 18 different sports. In our sample, most athletes used some type of contraception. Most believed that they had a better performance after menstruation and that starting contraception did not interfere with their performance. However, a high number of athletes believes that contraceptives are contraindicated for sports.","PeriodicalId":224249,"journal":{"name":"Scientific Journal of Sport and Performance","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133885544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
