This study examined the subjective level of fatigue and the performance level while subjects consumed the supplement or the placebo for 30 day. Methods: Subjects were 19 members of the women’s softball club at a physical education university. Results: Results indicated that leg fatigue, the state of the back, dark spots on the skin, and performance on a 50-m sprint improved significantly after consuming V7 in comparison to values prior to consumption. Scores for a total of 6 items—leg fatigue, the state of the hips, the state of the back, skin blotches, and eye strain—improved significantly after consuming V7 in comparison to values prior to consumption. Conclusion: These findings presumably indicate that DHA (an essential fatty acid) and krill oil (krill are rich in the ω3 polyunsaturated fatty acids DHA and EPA) in phospholipid form are taken up by the cell membrane. The 2 substances enhance cell and tissue function in the body by prompting cells to take up nutrients and quickly eliminate waste products. Moreover, reduced coenzyme Q10 had 2 actions—“production of energy” and “antioxidant action” that inhibited physical deterioration— while astaxanthin had “antioxidant action.” This antioxidant action, anti-fatigue action, antiinflammatory action, enhanced immunity, and enhanced endurance synergistically acted to alleviate general fatigue. Moreover, muscle protein synthesis stimulated by leucine, arginine, and citrulline alleviated muscle fatigue in the legs, knees, hips, and back, presumably accounting for the improved time on the 50-m sprint.","PeriodicalId":224142,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124177740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Metabolic syndrome may trigger arteriosclerotic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, heart disease, and stroke. Therefore, prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome are urgent issues. Since it has been reported that excessive nutrient intake and unhealthy lifestyles may contribute to metabolic syndrome, various approaches have been introduced into the medical administration system and performed; for example, preventive and therapeutic dietary counseling and nutritional therapy for the purpose of reducing of visceral fat. Recently, the pharmacological effects of foods have been noted and a study on \"functional foods\" has been promoted in countries worldwide. It has been reported that approximately 60% of Japanese adults routinely use functional foods with expectations of health maintenance, disease prevention, or the amelioration of symptoms. However, it is limited functional foods of which effect on improvement of metabolic syndrome has been demonstrated by clinical trials in human. Therefore, it is thought that the evidence of functional foods should be established immediately. 【ABSTRACT】 Peucedanum japonicum Thunb (PJT) has reported the effect of l ipid and glucose metabolism at some in vivo and in vitro study. In this study, 21 subjects with dyslipidemia border zone took PJT for 12 weeks. The changes over t ime of body composition and biochemical test were examined. The values of HbA1c were significantly reduced compared to the values before intake. For body fat percentage, the value at 8 weeks after intake showed a significant decrease compared with the value before intake. Adiponectin was significantly increase after 8 weeks in obese subject. These results suggested PJT may improvement of glucose metabolism.","PeriodicalId":224142,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124017137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present study, a fluorometric-based high throughput method using cytochrome P450 (CYP)screening kit was adopted to evaluate in vitro inhibition potential of CRD (CRD 1 and CRD 2) on CYP isoenzymes by calculating remaining enzyme activities and inhibitory potential (IC50 values) using the determined values of fluorescence intensity. IC50 of CRD 1 and CRD 2 were as follows: CYP3A4; >500 µg/ml, 490 µg/ml, CYP2D6; >500 µg/ml,>500 µg/ml,CYP2C9; >500 µg/ml,339 µg/ml, respectively. Japan is the leading country in the world on industrial applications of deep sea water, which has characteristics such as cleanliness, and is rich in various kinds of minerals and inorganic nutrients compared to surface seawater. In addition, applications of deep sea water as a useful resource have become a world interest, especially in fields of presymptomatic diseases called mibyo and in preventive medicine. Methods: Young male rats were fed a high cholesterol diet containing either lard, soybean oil, perilla oil or fish oil for 4wk. The control diet contained a lard component. Results: Posterior abdominal wall fat and testicle peripheral fat weights were significantly lower in the fish oil group compared with the control and the soybean oil group. The number of fat droplets was significantly higher in the liver tissue of rats in the perilla oil group compared with the other groups, and many fat droplets with small diameters were observed. The proportion of fat droplets to the total area was significantly lower in the perilla oil group and the fish oil group compared with the control and the soybean oil group. Conclusion: The results suggested that oil intake differing in fatty acid composition correlates with fat accumulation amount and lipid droplet area in the liver tissue. Fish oil intake correlated with reduced visceral fat accumulation and is expected to be useful in the prevention and improvement of obesity.","PeriodicalId":224142,"journal":{"name":"Japanese Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121502177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
