In this study, three meta-heuristic optimization techniques: Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO), Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA), and Binary Bat Algorithm (BBA), were used to find the optimal load shifting considering the electricity cost minimization. The simulation is based on the TOU tariff of Thailand's Provincial Electric Authority (PEA). The simulation results showed that the average reduction in electricity cost was 13.59%, and the average peak ratio was 15.25% compared to the initial load profile. However, the results obtained from each technique are slightly different. By the simulation results, the optimal energy management in smart houses helps reduce electricity costs at the TOU tariff.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131787128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adoption of battery systems in mobility and energy storage applications is promising for efficient operations and climate action goals. Although lithium-ion batteries dominate the battery storage systems (BSS) market, efforts are underway to optimize the performance and costs of lithium-ion batteries. This work's aim is to analyze the impact of NCO and NMC 811 cathode coating thickness in digital lithium-ion cells with respect to electrical properties (Gravimetric Energy-Wh/kg and Power destiny- W/kg) and optimization of material costs (per energy-$/kWh and power-$/kW) using the Pareto front. For high power applications, the optimal cathode thickness for NCO and NMC-811 is found to be around 25µm −50 µm, whereas for high energy applications, the recommended cathode thickness is 90µm -120 µm. It is emphasized that for better optimization, integration of the manufacturing cost model and real-time raw material cost monitoring is needed for more accurate analysis and optimization.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134420399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model can learn incrementally without the need for initial training samples. The model is suitable for use in locations where historical load data is not available to train the model. This article also presents the improvement of the forecasting accuracy of the FOS-ELM model by letting the FOS-ELM model learn from each newly received sample more than once, called “re-learning”. A comparative experiment between the FOS-ELM model without re-learning and the FOS-ELM model with re-learning found that the re-learning method can reduce the error in load forecasting. This is because the model can quickly adapt to the trends of new data. But after the fifth round of re-learning, the forecasting error value could no longer decrease. This is because the model has an over-fit with the latest learned data. In other words, re-learning allows the model to have lower forecasting errors, but the number of re-learning times must be chosen appropriately.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"23 9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123411675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These signals are used to simulate as the PD signal for testing the PD detection algorithms. Results are reported in Phase Resolved Partial Discharge (PRPD) format, just like results provided by professional companies that is employed as references. A feeding gap of 4 mm is reduced to 0.6 mm to match the RFID chip's footprint. To address the analogy, two different methods are discussed including the placement of conducting pins over the dipole arms and addition of L-stubs to ensure the antenna's matching to the chip impedance with the reduced feeding gap. These modifications provide a simple and viable solution to the problem related to RFID chip footprint. The design is simulated using CST-MWS for NXP UCODE G2iL RFID chip with the impedance of 23-j224 Ω at 915 MHz. The results show a good agreement between the original design and proposed modifications with the bandwidth from 893.7 MHz to 936 MHz and the gain of around 2 dBi for all cases. The antenna is also studied for different chip impedance, where a coupled feeding dipole for HIGGS 3 RFID chip with the impedance of II-j162 Ω is used. The design is initially developed to match at 915 MHz and the gain of 0.158 dBi is obtained. The proposed post-design modifications can provide a universal UHF RFID antenna for any RFID chip footprint and impedance.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128609726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Renewable Energy (RE) and Demand Side Management (DSM) are the important alternatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation. However, RE is intermittent and unstable. Therefore, utilities have to improve their power system to support the increasing of RE penetration. Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has initiated the demand flexibility management of the building pilot project in Rat Burana District, Bangkok. This pilot project combined the use of solar photovoltaic, energy storage system integrated with Demand Response (DR) measure. This pilot project is divided into three phases, which are about building energy management system (BEMS), demand response, and building energy management system expansion. Objectives are to support the use of the BEMS and to support demand response measure in the future. The results of this pilot project can operate in a net positive production model, and reduce the consumption demand of air conditioning energy up to 58kW through Direct Load Control (DLC) method. Moreover, MEA has a plan to develop energy management of the building microgrid type as a future building or community model.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129241322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the suitable approaches for stability analysis of power electronic converters connected to AC gird is impedance-based stability, which models the whole system as two subsystems that can be represented with frequency-dependent equivalent impedances. Hence, the representation of the power system by frequency-dependent equivalent impedance is required to carry out an impedance-based stability analysis. As there are various components in a power system, accordingly, this paper focuses on representing the frequency-dependent impedance of transformers in the network for assessment of converter-driven stability. For this purpose, the transformer model is implemented in the frequency domain using a two-port ABCD parameter and it is validated in the time domain by comparing the frequency response obtained from the PSCAD. Further, the transformer model is integrated into the frequency domain meshed test network and the nodal network impedance is validated. It is understood that the frequency-dependent impedance seen from the primary and secondary side of transformer is different and therefore it should be considered independently while calculating the nodal network impedances.","PeriodicalId":223538,"journal":{"name":"2022 International Conference on Power, Energy and Innovations (ICPEI)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115840535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
