Two different samples were utilized. First, a total of 363 earthquake survivors and 496 undergraduate students participated the study. In order to provide evidence of construct validity both confirmatory factor and exploratory factor analyses were conducted on the ego-resiliency scores. Forty seven percent of the total variance was explained by three factors. Confirmatory factory analyses provides supplementary evidence for the multidimensionality of the scale. The Turkish version of the Ego-Resiliency scale is a valid and reliable measure to use in quantifying resilience. Methods: 417 Primary school students from grade four and five were surveyed by the Chinese version of the Levels of Emotional Awareness Scale for Children (LEAS-C) and the Questionnaire on Youth’s Emotional Intelligence (QYEI). Results: (1) The LEAS-C contained self and other two dimensions, and the intra-class correlation coefficient of the overall scale and two subscales were more 0.88 and 0.89 respectively, the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of full and two subscales were more 0.90, 0.89, and 0.88 respectively, the split-half reliability of the overall scale and two subscales were 0.86, 0.82, and 0.83 respectively; (2) the correlation between two subscales of LEAS-C was 0.87, and the correlation between the total scores and the two subscales were 0.93 and 0.95 respectively; (3) significant positive correlations were found between LEAS-C and QYEI; and (4) the scores of females were higher than those of male on self-, other- and total-LEAS-C scores. The appreciation of novelty, the role of focusing attention, and the needs for depth and containment are explored in the context of recent developments of neuroscience. These developments are explored in the context of applications from set and group theory. Design: 36 months old female patient with Sotos syndrome was presented to us three years ago with an atypical development of communication and social interaction, inattentivity, hyperactivity and overall difficulty to manage her. She met diagnostic criteria for atipic childhood autism and specific training for autism was applied. At the age of five years and nine months Stanford Binett test was applied with a result of learning disability and the patient started receiving specific training. Results: Development was shown very quickly, she learned reading and writing, inattentivity and hyperactivity disappeared. Conclusions: Sotos syndrome is syndrome with multiple anomaly and common developmental and behavioral problems. Patients have a high risk of developing ADHD, temper tantrums and present autistic features. Academic difficulties and learning disabilities occur in most of them. The perceptions of parents about skills, abilities, and characteristics of each developmental stage influence the way they will behave with their children. Objectives: To identify the main difficulties found by mothers in the education/upbringing of children in early childhood (3-6 years) and middle childhood (6-12 years). Method: Participants were 120 mothers (two groups of 60 mothers for each age range), mostly married, ranging in age from 30.4 to 36.5 years, who completed a self-administered questionnaire containing essay and multiple-choice questions about data on characterization of the sample and maternal difficulties in dealing with their children according to the child’s stage of development. Participants completed the questionnaires at home or in schools. Results: More than 75% of mothers live with their child’s father, and more than 78% of these fathers help in child-rearing activities. Mothers spent an average of more than 4 hours a day with their children. Major difficulties of mothers of children in early childhood: putting toys away (63.3%), obedience to maternal commands (46.7%), sleeping on schedule (43.3%), eating an adequate diet (40%). Major difficulties of mothers of children in middle childhood: eating an adequate diet (43.3%), sleeping on schedule (41.7%), putting toys away (38.3%), and obedience to maternal commands (36.7%). Conclusion: The data show an increasing difficulty by mothers in getting children to do their homework and to learn school content as the child’s age advances. Common difficulties are centered on the establishment of a routine and obedience. Numerous studies have explored the antecedences and consequences of this novel phenomenon. The current study is yet another attempt in this direction. In this research we seek to explore the role of personality tendencies, namely the attachment system, in individuals' affect, cognitions, and behavior on what is presently considered as the most popular SNS - \"Facebook\". Over the years studies have continuously demonstrated that attachment theory is a relevant framework for understanding human behavior and has proven attachment tendencies to be significantly associated with quality of close relationships and daily social interactions. Since today virtual communication and social networks are capturing dominant aspects of social relationships, the linkage to attachment theory is evident. Hence, we approached 190 Israeli young adults, and asked them about their habits and daily routines on Facebook. We also measured their cognition and emotion concerning Facebook. Results show that attachment insecurity is associated with global orientations and emotions towards Facebook and that people develop attachment relationships with their Facebook network. We discuss the associations between attachment and virtual communication and its application for future theory and research. The increase of theta frequency has been associated with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and related to both grey matter (GM) changes of thalamus and basal ganglia and SPECT modifications. Objective: To study the association of prognostic theta frequency with specific GM and perfusional changes of thalamus and basal ganglia to detect biomarkers early predictive of mild cognitive impairment. Methods: 74 adult subjects with mild cognitive impairment underwent EEG recording and high resolution 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Moreover, 27 adult subjects with mild cognitive impairment underwent also perfusion single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) evaluation. The theta/gamma ratio was computed for each subject. Three groups were obtained according to increasing tertiles values of theta/gamma ratio. Grey matter density differences between groups were investigated using a Voxel Based Morphometry technique. Results: Subjects with higher theta/gamma ratio and increase of theta frequency showed minor atrophy in putamina nuclei bilaterally and a lower hippocampal perfusion in subjects with mild cognitive impairment. Conclusion: The integrated analysis of EEG and morpho-functional markers could be useful in the comprehension of anatomo-physiological underpinning of the MCI entity. The supply of Eastern alternative therapies and the new developments of cognitive behavioral therapy in the area of study are introduced. Based on a survey conducted in CBT training institutions of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, three categories are proposed to understand the phenomena: 1) the desacralization of yoga; 2) the incorporation of Eastern traditions into cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, and 3) scopes and limits of therapeutic complementariness between cognitive behavioral therapy and Eastern practices. The authors conclude that this appropriation produces a desacralization of the original contents of the Eastern tradition, because in this fusion the focus is on the practice that produces well-being more than on the Eastern practices.
