The objective and purpose of the current study are to expand the literature on work ethic by examining the role of Islamic work ethic in enhancing employee work engagement through psychological mediators. The current study suggests that psychological capital mediates the relationship between Islamic work ethic and work engagement because the organizational approach needs to be broader in approaching the new framework according to the passage of time. Therefore, the presented model has been proposed for all private and government sectors based on the need and importance of work engagement to emerge the economic sustainability of the country.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"72 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123526216","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this digital age, scholars are debating about whether celebrity endorsement can translate to effective advertising. Religion has become a significant factor because it can lead to a desire for responsible consumption. In the context of consumerism, religiosity can facilitate Muslim consumers' purchasing decisions since Islam encourages its adherents to follow Sharia values as a way of life. Based on a survey of 300 Muslim consumers, the findings revealed that religiosity moderates the positive effect of celebrity endorsement on advertising effectiveness. Specifically, the impact of celebrity endorsement on advertising effectiveness is greater when the religiosity level is high rather than low. From the practical standpoint, marketers should prioritise the celebrity selection process to comply with the teachings of Islam.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128679097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The data were collected by a questionnaire survey distributed to internal auditors, heads of internal audit, chairman and members of audit committees, chief executives, and financial managers of Yemeni commercial banks. After distributing the questionnaire survey to the respondents, 158 valid questionnaires were obtained for analysis. Smart PLS 3 was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses on the relationship between the attributes of the IAF and the effectiveness of CG. The study findings show a strong association between the efficacy of CG and the IAF's objectivity, independence, professional ethics, and IAF size. The results obtained represent a valuable addition to the literature on the attributes of IAF that affect the effectiveness of CG in developing countries, such as Yemen. Finally, the paper concludes that the attributes of the IAF have a significant and influential role in enhancing the effectiveness of CG.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116725580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the importance of food safety, little is known about the current state of food supply chain safety controls (FSCSC). Therefore, this study aims to identify and establish a conceptual model for FSCSC. To gain a preliminary grasp of the impetus behind the FSCSC, this study applied a comprehensive literature review to fully integrate the various elements that drive FSCSC. Relevant literature on food safety, food quality, and food safety control measures is being scrutinized. Regulation and legislation, traceability and trackability, technology, and human capital are recognized as important aspects to enhance FSCSC. All four main aspects provide a communication network that is capable of aiding food controllers to verify, identify, and isolate potential sources of contamination. Insights from this study could offer a better understanding of FSCSC and serve as a platform for future empirical research. This study proposed an alternative strategy to transform the current FSCSC. Hence, future studies could incorporate inquiry, in-depth evaluation, and panel interviews to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the general awareness of FSCSC processes.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131469042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A dichotomous was utilized to develop an index based on corporate social responsibility dimension, analyzed and examined using content analysis. The sample data used in this study comprises of 163 companies in listed non –financial companies in Nigeria and for the period of five years (2015-2019). The data were examined by regression models, pooled ordinary least squares model, random and fixed effects models tested. The result of statistical analysis provides some evidence of positive relationship between corporate board size, board composition and corporate social responsibility disclosure and shows strong relationship between the variables. The finding from the study shows that Nigerian non-financial companies are more likely to disclose more information using corporate board size, board composition. However, result of the joint interaction term reveals a strong moderating effect on the relationship between board size, board composition and corporate social responsibility disclosure with positive and statistically significant. It was therefore recommended that further research is need to explore the debt/equity hypothesis in other context or different time periods, that inconsistency of previous results is a common feature of CSR research.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129514898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existence of home bias offers a new discovery that enables for a comprehensive and robust investigation of such phenomenon. Therefore, the main agenda of this research is to examine the determinants of home bias in the global portfolio investment of selected OIC countries. An unbalanced bilateral panel data of 12 OIC countries’ outward equity investment in 74 host countries from year 2001 to 2016 was analysed. System Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimator was employed to determine the factors influencing home bias. The findings show that home bias can be explained by factors related to institutional quality, familiarity, and global financial crisis. The relative factors introduced in the current study significantly explained the existence of home bias phenomenon. Summative findings indicate that home bias may discourage global portfolio investment, but there is a tendency of over-investment in MENA region based on geographical preferences. This study has a significant implication to investors, fund managers and regulators of the OIC countries. Investors and fund managers in OIC countries should be aware of the existence of home bias in their global portfolio that may potentially reduce the benefits of optimal diversification. It is a call for policy makers in the OIC countries to convince their local investors that international portfolio diversifications are able to minimize portfolio’s risk and eventually increase the investment returns.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125148986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The transmission of monetary policy is conditioned on the effectiveness of the monetary policy intermediate targets of which interest rate, exchange rate depreciation and money growth are important. Many factors have been shown to affect monetary policy, of which, the role of financial inclusion is important. However, empirical studies on the relationship between financial inclusion and the interest rate of monetary policy transmission are few; as a result, this study examined the impact of financial inclusion on the effectiveness of the interest rate channel of monetary policy transmission in West Africa. In doing this, the study employed a panel dataset consisting of 15 West African countries for periods between 2005 and 2020. The data were from a secondary source, in particular, the World Bank’s World Development Indicator database. The analysis involves descriptive statistics and inferential analysis of the Generalized Method of Moments approach. The result of the generalized methods of the moment showed that financial inclusion improves the effectiveness of the interest rate channel of monetary policy transmission. Based on findings, this study recommends that policy authorities in West Africa should embark on a renewed commitment to ensuring access for all in West Africa.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129839413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The methodology is a broad study of past and recent academic works related to the topic's keywords. In essence, a narrative review has been undertaken to incorporate the three interlacing issues; climate change, institutional quality, and SDG in the context of Yemen. The present research work reinforces the evidence that climate change effects are particularly more catastrophic in regions already under political, socio-economic, and cultural pressures. Eventually, the attainment of SDGs become increasingly challenging in contexts with intense climate variability and native disturbances. Besides, the lack of quality institutions and strong governance put in peril the stability of the country, thereby making it more prone to conflicts. This eventually leads to the formation of a vicious circle where low institutional quality fecund more conflicts, which in turn further destabilizes state institutions. Overall, climate change is making matters worse for countries like Yemen, and hence this study provides an insight into the Yemenite society and economy. Since this is a narrative review with an interpretive approach, further studies should aim to engage in more econometric analysis covering the interference relationships between climate change, institutional quality, and SDGs, especially in countries facing the turmoils of war and conflict.","PeriodicalId":222326,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Emerging Economies and Islamic Research","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124886975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
