However, there is a extremely low public and medical awareness of this disease. In order to identify sleep apnea/hyopnea, some effective features have been extracted from ECG signal, PPG signal and EEG signal. In this work, a novel combined of features characterizing physiological signals for monitoring epochs of sleep apnea is presented. They are RR interval, the amplitude of RR, TT interval, the amplitude of TT, real-time heart rate, angle of QRS, Inter-quartile range, and absolute deviation values of RR-intervals. These physiological indicators extracted from single-lead ECG signal distinguish the sleep apnea from normal events based on support vector machines with linear kernel. The aim of study was to classify a short-duration epoch of ECG data obtained from real-time detecting system. Fifteen seconds were chosen to be the epoch length. Additionally, a preprocessing method is carried out to detect QRS and T-wave from ECG signals. Associating with these techniques, a portable real-time automated monitoring system for detecting sleep apnea is designed.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"12 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82832998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Huang from North Carolina State University in 2008. Combining the advantages of photovoltaic power generation and FREEDM system, this paper proposes a kind of grid-connected photovoltaic power generation technology based on FREEDM system. With the help of MATLAB/simulink software, we build the model of photovoltaic array and solid state transformer that is the core part of FREEDM system, and realize the goal of maximum power point tracking. The output of photovoltaic array can not only be connected into the low voltage AC power grid through single phase inverter, but also can be connected into 10 Kv grid through solid state transformer and three phase inverter. Among them, we adopt active frequency drift method in the model of single phase inverter, high-frequency transformer in DC/DC converter and voltage source converter topology based on d-q vector control system in the model of three phase inverter.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"50 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83758169","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to create a system that can analyze whether the person is drowsy or non- drowsy and send a warning signal whenever it detects signs of drowsiness. This design undergoes several image processing for boosting the systems capability to retain only the region of interest and successfully initiate alarms within minimal time. It utilizes EyeMap mainly for eye localization and windowing and aided by the Circular Hough transform to extract only the eye region - specifically the iris; and classify whether the person is experiencing drowsiness at the moment. The researchers develop an additional device that is equipped with three warning signals and reacts on how the system sees the state of the person. Three setups were implemented in this study: Regular Camera, Infrared Sensitive Camera and Multiple Cameras. All setups were implemented during day and night to test the response of the system to varying lighting conditions. The subjects are tested inside a car and their present state is determined using the Karolinska Sleeping Scale. The current state of the person is then compared to the system's response. The subjects are tested three times under different setups to determine if the system is responding correctly under different condition. The study shows that the system is able to successfully determine whether the person is in the drowsy or non-drowsy state in all of the three setups, multi-camera being the mPost effective. However, it is limited by the capability of the camera to adapt to different lighting condition. During night time, the ability of the system to determine the state of the system drops.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"146 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88644395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This short distance communication approach transmits signals through body tissue forming a wireless network among on-body sensors. It is defined as one of the physical layers for the new IEEE 802.15.6 or Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) standard. It is meaningful to investigate the characterization of the IBC communication system for wearable and implantable biomedical applications. In this paper, an impulse radio (IR) type of transmitter was developed for galvanic coupling type IBC. A carrier-free transmission is implemented in a field programmable gate array (FPGA) board based on a pulse position modulation (PPM) scheme. PPM is a modulation technique which uses time based pulse characteristics to encode data and is based on impulse radio ideas. Results demonstrate that there is 40 dB attenuation after 20 cm data transmission through human arm. Additionally, the Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) decreases about 8.0 dB for a range of arm distances (5-50 cm) between transmitter and receiver electrodes with the stable noise and various signal amplitude. The variations of the channel SNR is measured approximately 0.2 dB/cm for 5-50 cm on-body distances. The behavior of SNR shows how signals will propagate through the human body communication channel.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"28 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87221862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But when the channel is fast fading, this assumption does not holds good and causes co-channel interference (CCI). Hence, the simple Alamouti detection method is not sufficient to recover the original transmitted signal from the mixed transmitted signals at the receiver side. To cancel the effects of CCI, several detection techniques are addressed namely SIC, DMLD, DZFD, DF and ML. The ML method has the optimum performance but the computational complexity is very high. Therefore, we propose a suboptimal MDF detection which provides comparable performance to that of ML with very less computational complexity. Finally, the performances of the above detection methods are compared in terms of symbol error rate (SER) and computational complexity for STBC OFDM system over doubly selective channel.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"186 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80642994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Base on the measured value of Time of Arrival (TOA), a novel cooperative positioning algorithm with multiple positioning circles is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm estimates the position of one mobile node via TOA localization technology, and then estimates other nodes by using the connection between two nodes. The factors that need to be calibrated have been discussed. Firstly, RC variation of the loop filter is compensated by using an RC tracking circuit. Secondly, variation of the loop gain of the modulator is calibrated by sensing the magnitude differences between its values at DC and high frequency. Since two critical factors of PLL are calibrated, the proposed technique can achieve higher calibration accuracy. Moreover, this technique has been proven to be valid for all PLL types and orders by theoretical analyses given in this paper. And one particular case has been verified by measurement results.","PeriodicalId":22200,"journal":{"name":"TENCON 2015 - 2015 IEEE Region 10 Conference","volume":"58 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91301272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
