{"title":"The Rise of the Ljubljana School of Documentary Film at TV Ljubljana (1981–1990) and the Transformation of the Documentary","authors":"Katja Stamboldžioski","doi":"10.4312/ars.17.1.271-284","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.17.1.271-284","url":null,"abstract":"The article discusses a specific period of the production of the documentary genre at TV Ljubljana, known as the period of the Ljubljana School of Documentary Film (19811990). The focus of this research is predominantly the conditions and limitations of production, under which documentary films and practices, as well as the routines of the creators, were created, to analyse how production practices were reflected in the form and style of documentary films. The documentary films of this period began to move away from news coverage with current political content and the explanatory mode of representation, and moved towards the participatory and observatory modes of representation. The routines and practices became more professional. In particular, journalists began writing scripts and collaborating with talented directors from AGRFT (Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television). Despite financial and production limitations, which placed numerous bureaucratic tasks into the creative process, and the self-censorship of creators, under the leadership of editor Drago Pečko and with the collaboration of directors, numerous authorial documentary films were made that were recognized in the Yugoslav space. Pouk stare grščine in latinščine ima za osrednji cilj bralno razumevanje izvirnih besedil in zato dolgo tradicijo ukvarjanja z vprašanjem prevajanja v didaktične namene. To se zdi zanimivo predvsem spričo sodobnih teoretičnih smernic, ki prevajanju – potem ko je po zatonu slovnično-prevajalske metode v veliki meri izgubilo veljavo – ponovno odmerjajo pomembnejše mesto v okviru pouka modernih tujih jezikov. Prispevek tako opozarja na možno vlogo, ki jo ima prevajanje lahko predvsem pri delu z zahtevnejšo tujejezično književnostjo in razvijanju kompetence bralnega razumevanja. Obenem poudarja, da je prevajanje lahko dobrodošlo orodje tudi pri razvijanju kompetenc, ki so vezane na literarnost obravnavanih besedil. {"title":"Model of Heritage Interpretation Adapted to Public Co-participation","authors":"Jelka Pirkovič, Luka Kocbek","doi":"10.4312/ars.17.1.251-270","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.17.1.251-270","url":null,"abstract":"Dealing with interpretation, we first revisited the theoretical models of hermeneutics (hermeneutical cycle), semantics (triangle) and information sciences, as well as the model of heritage interpretation pedagogy. To design a more appropriate heritage interpretation model that meets the requirements of full public participation, we defined the key concepts (on top of heritage interpretation itself): memory, knowledge and values. The arguments for such a choice have been expounded from three viewpoints: semantics (defining their current meaning and etymology of terms), neuroscience and heritage studies (in Slovenia and some other countries, we use the term ‘heritology’ – denoting the interdisciplinary field of heritage studies). The paper concludes by outlining the heritage interpretation model, graphically presented in two diagrams: the structural one in the form of a three-circle Venn diagram with the corresponding matrix and the process diagram following the adaptive management pattern. {"title":"Two Faces of the Hindu Great Goddess","authors":"Nina Petek","doi":"10.4312/ars.17.1.229-249","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.17.1.229-249","url":null,"abstract":"The paper presents the multifaceted identity of the Hindu goddess Mahādevī, the dynamic feminine absolute of the religious tradition Śāktism, whose philosophical foundations have shaken several assumptions of established religious and social norms. Śāktism remains an integral part of the philosophical-religious landscape of the complex totality of Hinduism, while also stretching beyond narrow religious contexts and critically examines normative patterns of patriarchal social reality. In the first chapter, the paper outlines the origins of the formation of the goddess cult, from the earliest period of Indian civilization to the Purāṇas, and then introduces the key ideas of the goddess myth in the Devīmāhātmya, where, for the first time in the spiritual history of India, a goddess is defined as the Supreme Reality, who reconciles all opposites within herself. The interpretation of the most significant segments of the goddess myth is built on the basis of an analysis of the changes in metaphysics, specifically the transition from the pre-Tantric dualistic metaphysical system to the non-dualistic one in Tantra. Z 18. letom je postal član prostovoljne gasilske ekipe, kar ga je vodilo k znanstvenemu raziskovanju ognja. Danes velja za vodilnega strokovnjaka na dotičnem področju, k problematiki pa pristopa tako z naravoslovnega kot s humanističnega vidika. Izdal je mnogo knjig o zgodovini ognja in požarov po različnih delih sveta (npr. v Ameriki, Avstraliji, Evropi in Kanadi), v knjigi Ogenj. Narava in kultura, izdani leta 2012, pa se raziskovanja tematike loti pregledno in splošno, s poudarkom na antropološki dimenziji ognja. {"title":"Ali sploh še potrebujemo prevajalce?","authors":"Adriana Mezeg","doi":"10.4312/ars.17.1.139-154","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.17.1.139-154","url":null,"abstract":"Zaradi izboljšanja strojnih prevajalnikov v zadnjih letih se pogosto sprašujemo, ali bi ta orodja nekoč lahko nadomestila človeškega prevajalca. V članku predstavimo rezultate ankete o uporabi strojnih prevajalnikov med študenti francoščine ljubljanskega Oddelka za prevajalstvo, nato pa se posvetimo analizi napak v prevodih štirih besedil iz francoščine v slovenščino, ki smo jih pridobili z Google Prevajalnikom in DeepLom. Analiza je pokazala, da je DeepL nekoliko boljši od Google Prevajalnika, ki se je z leti sicer izboljšal, vendar kakovost strojnega prevoda iz francoščine v slovenščino še vedno ni na ravni človeškega, pri čemer izstopajo leksikalne napake pred slovničnimi in slogovnimi napakami. Večina študentov si pri prevajanju iz francoščine v slovenščino pomaga s prevajalniki in meni, da so zaradi tega njihovi prevodi boljši, obenem pa ne vedo, ali imajo dovolj znanja za njihovo popravljanje. In contextualizing this exploratory study through a brief recapitulation of the concept of smaller literatures within broader notions of world literature, attention is also paid to the increasing popularity of scholarship on translation prizes, before the British literary translation scene is presented and summarized. After outlining the form, scope, and stated aims of the two prizes, the methodology of the study is introduced, together with any possible limitations. Subsequently, and adopting a literature-based approach, the relevant websites for both awards are scrutinized to obtain the necessary data. This is then analysed and discussed, with the aim of ascertaining the extent to which smaller literatures can be said to be present in the two prizes. {"title":"Feministisches Handeln in der literarischen Übersetzung sexueller Gewalt","authors":"A. Montes","doi":"10.4312/ars.17.1.183-197","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.17.1.183-197","url":null,"abstract":"In diesem Artikel soll das feministische Übersetzen als Translationskonzeption dargestellt werden, deren Ziel es ist, im Translationsprozess durch bestimmte feministische Übersetzungsverfahren offen Widerstand gegen patriarchialische Strukturen zu leisten sowie gegen Geschlechter-Asymmetrien vorzugehen. Die Thematik der sexuellen Gewalt an Frauen ist ein Thema, das auch in der deutschen Literatur aufgegriffen wird. Am Beispiel der Kurzgeschichte Volksfest von Ferdinand von Schirach (2010) und deren Übersetzung ins Spanische soll gezeigt werden, wie feministisches Übersetzen sogenannte ‘neutrale und objektive’ Übersetzungsverfahren in Frage stellt, bei denen am Ausgangstext nur die linguistisch obligatorischen Veränderungen vorgenommen wurden. Dieser Artikel geht auch auf die literarische Translator:innenausbildung ein, denn Studierende sollten dafür sensibilisiert werden, dass gerade feministische Themen wie sexuelle Gewalt eine besondere translatorische Annäherung bedürfen, wobei der Ansatz des feministischen Übersetzens die ideale Grundlage dafür bildet.\u0000Es wird dafür plädiert, dass gerade bei literarischen Texten, die als Thema sexuelle/sexualisierte Gewalt an Frauen haben, das feministische Übersetzungsverfahren als Translationskonzeption angewendet werden sollte. {"title":"Budizem v himalajskih puščavah","authors":"Nina Petek, Jan Ciglenečki","doi":"10.4312/ars.16.2.179-210","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4312/ars.16.2.179-210","url":null,"abstract":"Članek predstavi nekatere vidike sodobnega puščavništva v budizmu vajrayāna v samotni dolini Zangskar na območju zveznega teritorija Ladakh v predelu indijske Himalaje, kjer se neprekinjeno ohranja že vse od 11. stoletja dalje, ko je tamkajšnje kraje obiskal legendarni budistični mojster Naropa. Kratkemu zgodovinskemu orisu prihoda budizma v Ladakh sledi osvetlitev začetkov tradicije budističnih puščavnikov, tj. jogijev in jogini (yogi, yoginī), iz katere se je pozneje formirala šola drukpa kagyu. V nadaljevanju prikaže okoliščine ustalitve njene južne butanske veje (lho ‘brug) v Zangskarju, k čemur je prispeval zlasti zangskarški mojster Ngawang Tsering iz 17. stoletja, ki mu pripisujejo tudi zasluge za ustanovitev nekaterih meniških institucij butanske veje na tem območju. Na osnovi izsledkov, pridobljenih tekom našega terenskega dela v dolini, prispevek predstavi pomen štirih meniških institucij (Bardan, Dzongkhul, Sani in Stagrimo) za tradicijo puščavništva danes, hkrati pa oriše tudi vlogo jogijev in jogini v lokalnih skupnostih.
