The conductivity is indirectly evaluated from measured resonant frequencies and unloaded Q values of a number of Whispering Gallery modes excited in a post-wall circular resonator with a large diameter of 10 – 30 wavelengths. We measure σp in 40 – 51 GHz band. The measured σp of the copper post decreases with the increase in the frequency. We confirm the measured results by comparing between the calculated results and the measured results of transmission losses for post-wall waveguides.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130017853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For reliable transmission of periodic packets, the proposed protocol chooses the path has highest end-to-end packet reception rate (e2e_PRR) to transmit data packets. Also, a mechanism is used to reduce the number of control packets. The simulation result has shown that the proposed protocol has a better performance in terms of reliability and control packet overhead than the previous routing protocols.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133097319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper gives a DDoS defense method which is based on “pushback and communicate” idea (PaC method). When the gateway of victim detects DDoS attack, it has to listen on interfaces to define the neighbors from which DDoS packets come. Those neighbors will receive DDoS information and do same things the victim's gateway does. By repeating that work, PaC can find the exact way DDoS packets had passed through. All routers then continue creating their own filters before sending DDoS information to their next neighbors.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130860078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electrooptic modulator (EOM) is a key component in this system having a big influence on OEO stabilization. The EOM is characterized by its voltage to optical output transfer function which unfortunately undergoes a drift during time leading to changes of the EOM characteristics and finally to a drift of the oscillation frequency. A twofold instrumentation system has been developed for controlling the EOM. Its first part is dedicated to the EOM temperature control. By using this part, the OEO frequency drift can be reduced by a factor 1.39 for one hour duration. The second part of the instrumentation system is used for compensating the drift of the EOM transfer function. With these two parts operating simultaneously, the frequency drift reduction can reach a factor up to 3.44 for one hour. These results demonstrate the efficiency of the compensation method.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121189691","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the theoretical Dual Carrier Modulation (DCM) supported by Media Alliance, we propose a scheme of the DCM-Modulation and DCM-Demodulation with Soft-decoding for a MB-OFDM MIMO system. The bounds of the answer sheet image captured by the camera is first allocated using Hough transform and then skew-corrected into the proper orientation, followed by the normalization to a given size. Next, the tick mark corresponding to the answer for each question can be recognized by allocation of the mask which wraps the answer area. The experimental results showed that the proposed system has achieved significant improvement in performance in terms of accuracy, reliability, and elapsed time compared with those of the conventional optical mark recognition (OMR) systems. The proposed system also demonstrated that it can also achieve high accuracy of 99.7% while using non-transoptic answer sheet paper with lower cost.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128396105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A face candidate is first allocated from the input frame and then normalized to 200×200 pixels images. The textureness of candidates is then measured by the combination of BDIP and BVLC moments and classified into face and non-face ones by a SVM classifier which is known as efficient classification tool. In SVM learning, a DB of 2500 faces and 2500 non-faces has been created under different light conditions and face expressions.
