The widely used pulses are given by successive derivations of Gaussian impulse. IR-UWB receiver uses classically a RAKE in order to eliminate the effects on the signal due to the multipath channel. In this article, we assume that the channel state information is known at the transmitter. To avoid the utilization of the RAKE at receiver, we propose a technique of pre-equalization based on the knowledge of the channel and the characteristic of the Gaussian derivation. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the proposed methods and to assess their performance.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124850531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current works only analyze the asymptotic behavior of these protocols, either under high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) or under low SNR-low rate conditions. Our analytical results are presented in such a way that they can be used for both asymptotic conditions.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125380477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An important solution to cope with such heterogeneity is content adaptation. This paper reviews the standardization issues related to content adaptation in IPTV standards. We first describe the basic architecture of content adaptation and its integration into the ITU-T IPTV architecture. Then typical methods of content adaptation in practical IPTV systems are discussed in detail. Especially, we highlight the standard metadata tools that are potential to support adaptation methods within ITU-T IPTV architecture. Some recent developments in other standard bodies are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129315233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many recent researches proposed space time block codes (STBCs) for closed-loop MIMO systems which have number of transmit antennas greater 2. However, to the best of our knowledge, the STBC for closed-loop MIMO systems with 2 transmit antennas is not available. In this paper, we present a STBC rate of one for C-MIMO systems with two transmit antennas. By rotating constellation and coordinate interleaving symbols in codeword, the proposed code also achieves full diversity and linear decoding complexity as Alamouti code. In addition, the proposed code with 1-bit feedback achieves a significant improvement in performance and outperforms open-loop Alamouti code.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115282860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The algorithms are based on time-delay estimation using classical cross-correlation (CC) and smoothed coherence transform (SCOT) methods. Beside assessment of the two proposed GCC methods with the existing GCC-PHAT method, peformance of the FAST SRP-PHAT method is also compared with group of three GCC-based methods in terms of localization precision and computing cost. The evaluation results show that: (i) The method based on CC algorithm outperforms two other methods based on SCOT and GCC-PHAT algorithms while peformance of the SCOT method is quite similar to the GCC-PHAT method. (ii) Each computing cost of the three GCC methods is less than the computing cost of FAST SRP-PHAT method but the GCC methods' localization precision is degraded.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133525914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It assures essentially the performance of wireless communication systems. Depending on each application, the directivity of the antenna is different. The higher antenna directivity is, the more effective system is. That is why there are increasing demands for designing this kind of antenna. This paper presents a new structure of antenna with high gain to improve the ability of DSRC system for the transportation system applications. The deal of the new antenna is to use a metamaterial layer under a planar antenna. Our great success is a perfect agreement between the real measured and simulated results with 16dBi of directivity.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115857913","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We obtain theoretical bounds for the system's bit-error rate (BER) and channel capacity over the gamma-gamma strong turbulence channels in both uncoded and Turbo-coded cases. We quantitatively show that the BER and channel capacity are considerably affected by the strong turbulence. In Turbo-coded systems, a coding gain of about 4 dB and 5% channel capacity increase can be achieved in the strong turbulence regime.","PeriodicalId":221905,"journal":{"name":"The 2011 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications (ATC 2011)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126572022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
