The project usually involves the design, implementation, and testing of a didactic example of processor using hardware description language and reconfigurable technology such as the FPGA. In this paper, we describe our experience of developing a didactic soft-core processor and its adoption in processor design hands-on laboratory sessions and course project.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125559114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many IT companies today require graduated students to understand and be able to apply these technologies. Application potential of AI is not limited only to robotics, image processing or intelligent agents, but also in engineering areas like computer networking and communication. However, on most universities, networking courses focus mainly on transmission protocols, network services and hardware design only while AI, machine learning or neural networks are taught separately. This causes a gap that emerges between AI theory and engineering approach. Thus, teachers of engineering courses are challenged how to introduce their students to an application of AI in the engineering areas, e.g., electronics, communication, embedded systems, power grids, etc. This paper shows how selected AI techniques presently used in computer networks can be incorporated into networking curriculum and demonstrated to students which extends student competencies and prepares them better into future jobs. We also present two case studies where AI techniques are applied on networking data in order to solve typical engineering problems.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128310177","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Electronic examination systems, which offer advantages in reduced administration improved efficiency, but may not be well suited for the above type of problems, are increasingly adopted by educational institutions. The more automated production processes are taking over the low qualification jobs from the labor market, while at the same time new work positions appear that require certain skills and expertise in the automation field. The requirements towards many low-qualification work positions grow too and such employees working with some type of automation machines more often need to possess basic knowledge about the way they are being controlled. Nowadays, production companies, at least in Bulgaria, find it difficult to hire personnel with broader knowledge and skills required for the everyday maintenance of their automated machines and production lines. The aim of this paper is to present the necessary knowledge and experience needed for such a work position in the form of qualification course which we teach to our electronics specialty students. The course is appropriate for people with electrical background.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130303503","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transitions and states diagrams are given. Information arrays concerning current moments of receiving calls for users with identification numbers 100, 200, 300 and 400 are formed. The task of statistical processing and optimization of incoming traffic, based on a quality control approach on the representative sets, is considered. Theoretical nominal and acceptable limit values for arrival time are defined, as a result of processing. Verifications are performed to what extent the experimental observations and the obtained samples as mean values between them had a normal distribution, and if they fell within the respective limits. With respect to each of the surveyed data sets, basic quality indicators are calculated, illustrated by multiple X-Bar and R plots and probability histograms. The results of the quality analysis show the highest level of quality with respect to the data set for customer in order of entry requests number 400. The presented approach to statistical analysis and quality control includes further steps under establishing samples beyond the limits of optimality and their exclusion from the composition of the input data.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128152967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, the market for nanosatellites opens the doors of space for reasonable development costs, in comparison with the deployment costs of telecommunication satellites for example. The NANOSTAR project is a Satcom Challenge from the Interreg Sudoe program. It aims to gather seven universities and two aerospace clusters from the southwest of Europe (France, Spain and Portugal) to give a boost to the aerospace industry via university students and compete with other continents in the race to launching nanosatellites. The educational materials are focused on modern topics, including electrical engineering and information engineering; and they are intended for higher education students. From the international point of view it is interesting that some part of the developed materials is intended for language education, introducing professional terminology in English and German.
