The course is intended for students from the Bachelor's programme “Mathematics and Informatics” of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics at Sofia University, who are trained for teachers of mathematics, informatics and information technologies following a new national curriculum. The paper reviews the current educational trends leading to the need of the subject Inclusive Education in the curriculum of future teachers in all subject areas. It takes into account the constraints imposed by the application of the traditional lecture approach and the duration limits set in the curriculum. We propose a solution to these problems by applying the flipped classroom approach. The specific model of this approach that includes active use of e-learning environment is presented, while our special focus is on the practical application of inclusive education knowledge in the fields of mathematics, informatics and information technologies. The advantages of this model application are also shown.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128253291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whereas the literature deals with the technical qualifications required of engineering graduates, the research focusing on two-year technology program graduates is limited. Therefore, the study described here investigated the relevance assigned by Israeli students and teachers to the technical skills required of two-year electronics program graduates. Forty-four electronics students and thirteen electronics teachers from a two-year college participated in this mixed-method study. The findings indicate that the relevance assigned by the teachers to technical skills was significantly higher than the relevance assigned by their students. This result could be explained by the current curriculum not putting sufficient emphasis on providing relevant technical qualifications.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"112 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120918441","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since that time, both the hardware and software reached maturity and new areas for applications opened. Industry and healthcare are very different application areas. But they also share some similarities, in particular simulations as close to reality as possible allow to train necessary skills without the danger of damaging machinery or causing a patient injury and to avoid critical situations. We present several examples of VR applications in various industrial areas. VR is not used on its own but it is interconnected with other advanced technologies, such as robotics and Internet of Things. In healthcare, several studies were performed that proved VR being a suitable means for treatment of certain health problems or an additional tool, for example in pain alleviation. Finally we discuss how VR can be used in university education not only as a tool for viewing 3D objects and scenes passively, but also as a tool for active interaction and execution of defined tasks.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130985586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our description is based on the implementation of the international project MoVET (Modernisation of VET through Collaboration with the Industry), which represents a Czech-Slovak-Spanish learning base (using English as the reference language) that develops educational materials for new areas, provides - through internships abroad - testing of the acquired theoretical knowledge, and thanks to ECVET learning units also their transformation into the students' real skills. Last but not least, these skills are internationally recognized (within the EU) after passing an examination. The program for students also includes competitions of international student teams. At this point, we can share our practical experience after the first half of the project and introduce the benefits for the involved universities, VET institutions and industrial companies.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134066069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are no consistent guidelines or recommendations on what can be classed as an effective teaching curriculum on entrepreneurship for engineering discipline. Entrepreneurship is an integrated concept and if an effective teaching and learning platform is not adopted, then addressing some of the complex attributes of entrepreneurship can be a challenge for educators. For some researchers, a good deal of fundamental business knowledge can be taught in a classroom but such an approach is limited as students cannot be exposed to some of the risks and complexities attributed to an entrepreneurial venture. This paper will discuss the potential of blended teaching by using a controlled learning environment such as simulation with traditional lectures. Using the case study of an entrepreneurship focused module called ‘Enterprise’ in the Department of Electronic Engineering at York (UK), this paper will discuss some of the innovative ways to teach entrepreneurship to engineering students. It will particularly highlight the use of on-line business simulation platforms: SimVenture Evolution and SimVenture Validate which give students an authentic experience of running a business and validating their innovative ideas. Such experiential technologies can facilitate the development of a wide range of skills needed to stimulate students' entrepreneurial competences. Can such approaches transform the educational setting in entrepreneurship education for non-business students? The findings from this study will help Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and educators understand the benefits of blended teaching and learning strategies for entrepreneurship related curricula and programmes fit for modern education.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132117971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
