It mainly involves connected objects that are physically and therefore materially dependent on electronics, microelectronics and nanotechnologies. The challenges are therefore focused on this discipline in terms of increasing integration, increasingly fast communications and energy consumption that is growing exponentially and must be controlled. These challenges will only be overcome if the training of engineering technicians and doctors is adapted to these technological needs, both in initial and lifelong training, by ensuring solid knowledge acquisition and associated essential know-how. The strategy adopted by the French national training network for this development is presented and discussed. It pays particular attention to the need to share several technological platforms and design tools because of their increasing cost and to create innovative practical training to meet the needs of society and the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0.). Examples of achievements and data on the training courses organized will complete this document.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133567306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Computer technologies have seen dramatic improvements, and laid the foundation for worldwide virtual reality (VR) development. The main goal of virtual reality is simulation of realistic human world. One of the key features of virtual reality is real-time interactivity, which means that the computer or the system has to be able to detect a user's input and modify the virtual world instantaneously. There are lots of educational difficulties related to understanding of complex objects like chemical compounds or parts of human body. A way to overcome them is the use of VR as appropriate technique which can improve the learning process to became more efficient. The aim of the paper is to present an approach for constructing molecules with different structural complexity. In addition, the development of VR models for human anatomy parts is also considered.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131919067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Very often this is the English language, that simplifies the communication, but does not dismiss the cultural differences between different national cultures and inside other cultural groups. In our contribution, we will concentrate on the cultural influence on teaching databases. Open questions that we want to discuss are: Which cultural viewpoints have to be considered (national, different users' groups); how culture influences expert work; and finally, yet importantly, do we have general solutions for those open questions? Besides the presentation of basic cultural concepts like culture, cultural differences, cultural awareness and others, we will also present the experiences of a student test group and students from the Erasmus+ program, who answered the question about cultural viewpoint inclusion into conceptual modelling (local students), or take part in the interview (Erasmus students).","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130320905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A promising approach for reaching of this goal is the involvement of the master and the PhD students in the research works of the universities. With regard to this situation, in the paper a computer program for automated synthesis of matched filters for signal processing is presented. It demonstrates how the number theoretic spectral methods can be applied in the design of the radar devices. The program is successfully used in the process of preparation of master and PhD students in the field of radio-communications.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132242745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main goal of VR in education is to make studying process more involving and effective. The essential distinction of VR from other computer technologies for displaying information is that there is a “feedback” corresponding to the user's actions, i.e., the virtual environment is changing appropriately to his/her reactions. In the paper, a comparison between the different implementations of VR is made and the key elements of a VR system are listed. Also, a case study is presented in the last part of the paper. It consists of a description of the process of choosing which VR technology is best used in different education scenarios and shows a specific example of how VR technology is implemented in the teaching process at “Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov” University - Burgas and thus making the education process of students, and especially those from medical and technical science departments, more complete and engaging.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126324550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through Software Defined Radios (SDR), we propose to the students of the Telecommunications Department of the ENSEIRB-MATMECA, Bordeaux INP to put into practice their skills in digital communications, signal processing, channel coding, etc. on real signals. More precisely, we guide them through a project, to decode the trajectories of aircraft by demodulating Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) signals. In addition to the playfulness of this project, dealing with real signals also makes it possible to verify certain modelling assumptions such as the white and Gaussian noise character or the frequency non-selectivity of the channel disturbing the ADS-B signals. The novelty of our approach also lies on the collaborative aspect of this project. Students can test their implementation any time in class or at home by sharing with us their works which is merged on an always online server connected to a SDR hardware.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131244444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Students deliver numerous reports both on exercises in theoretical studies and on laboratory work. There is no doubt that report writing during school and university years is an exercise of high value and engineering students need to master academic report writing. There are however other possibilities for students to deliver their results, including videos. In recent years, recording and processing video material has become much easier than before. This is due to the powerful video recording capabilities of smart devices and video processing apps available both for smart devices and computers. Teachers at engineering faculties of the University of Iceland have experimented by letting students deliver results on video and on rich text presentation form. This paper describes the experiences made from the teachers' point of view but the students' perspective will also be described.","PeriodicalId":221469,"journal":{"name":"2019 29th Annual Conference of the European Association for Education in Electrical and Information Engineering (EAEEIE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124218692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
