Bio-impedance analysis, as accurate and fast method is used to investigate and monitor group of apples properties during aging. This method provides an alternative method for investigating apples physical properties that are highly related to chemical properties. AD5933 impedance analyzer chip within the frequency range (5 KHz-100 KHz) and NI-ELVIS board within the frequency range (300 Hz-5 KHz) are used to investigate the changes in apple's properties during aging. According to experimental results, the observed changes in apples properties during aging can be highly related to bio-impedance changes. Different parameters as weight, Cole-Cole plot, impedance, and phase are discussed to investigate the aging effect.","PeriodicalId":220936,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130476702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a signed system parameter is allowed leading to the appearance of bidirectional bifurcations. A set of proposed tent maps with different sign variations and a signed parameter are investigated where the conventional map is a special case. The proposed maps exhibit period doubling as a route to chaos with wider and alternating sign output ranges that could fit multiple applications. Based on the maximum achievable output range corresponding to maximum chaotic behavior, the responses are called: positive tent map, mostly positive tent map, negative tent map, and mostly negative tent map. Mathematical analysis and results for the proposed maps are presented including: effective ranges of control parameter and iterated variable, key-points of the bifurcation diagram. Chaotic properties of the maps are explored including time series, cobweb diagrams, and maximum Lyapunov exponent.","PeriodicalId":220936,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132268713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It served Lebanon's capital, Beirut and the Caza of Mount Lebanon. Ever since the landfill was active, it faced various controversies as it was originally meant to be an emergency plan for a short period of time. The locals of Naameh areas and its surrounding were defiant of the continuous prolongation of the landfill. This study aimed at addressing Naameh landfill using a remote sensing approach to assess its evolution in time. Due to the absence of field data for public or academic use, remote sensing offers a great alternative to understand the changes in the landfill and its vegetated surrounding in time. The study has shown that the vegetated areas were in place of the landfill with the possible presence of a small quarry in the 80s. The landfill area increased about 25% in surface area between 1998 and 2003 (about 6 hectares), and about 27% between 2003 and 2014 (about 8 hectares). Furthermore, the study shows that there was a major shift in the vegetation cover when comparing September 1984 (pre-landfill conditions) and September 2003. A less dense vegetation cover existed in 2003 where a total decrease in dense and sparse trees reaches about 100 hectares, from which 25% were lost to the landfill, 50% to urban areas including roads to the landfill, and the remaining 25%, i.e. about 25 hectares were due to indirect impacts and were replaced by low density sparse short vegetation or shrubs. Such information is important for proper management of the site and its rehabilitation, and represents a first step of in-depth analysis of the landfill using remote sensing technology.","PeriodicalId":220936,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125104333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It introduces all the main properties and characteristics of the digital artificial neurons by providing a modern platform of design and implementation of these intelligent artificial organisms. The modern digital design is initialized by a reservation of memory registers to hold the inputs, outputs and weights. A sequence of binary equivalence comparison operations of the inputs and weights is executed to deliver the required outputs as declared. This novel process provides a mere design and learning road-map to the designer, leading to a massive practice in artificial neural networks.","PeriodicalId":220936,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129635956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method benefits from a reference model which is itself fuzzy. Since the reference model is fuzzy it has more degrees of freedom to define a more appropriate dynamic behavior for the system to be controlled. The flexibility caused by the fuzzy reference model makes it possible for the system to outperform the case when the reference signal is linear in terms of rise time and settling time. In addition, using the proposed approach, tracking error of the reference system reduces significantly. The direct method of Lyapunov is used to prove the stability of the system. The proposed method is tested on a Duffing oscillator subject to disturbances.","PeriodicalId":220936,"journal":{"name":"2016 3rd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128158373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
