The contour feature of the head is exploited to locate every passenger's position. In order to obtain the contour feature accurately, the modification of the Hough Transform and the fuzzy measure are applied. The procedure has been implemented in a DSP-based embedded system for field tests and the results show that the procedure mentioned here is effective.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114569623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The received signal subspace of transmission through a sparse channel is spanned by a few vectors corresponding to the path delays. The matching pursuit (MP) algorithm is considered and we use the cyclic orthogonal training sequence to reduce the complexity due to the iterative searching procedure. Then, the generalized Akaike information criterion (GAIC) is used to make the decision among the candidate sets of basis vectors provided by MP. From computer simulation, the proposed method shows a much better performance than the traditional ML method by exploiting the sparse characteristic of channel.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116147020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An algorithm for estimating the parameters of frequency hopping (FH) signals based on reassigned smoothed pseudo WVD (RSPWVD) is proposed. With the good time- frequency concentration and restraining cross-term ability of RSPWVD, this algorithm can efficiently estimate the parameters of FH signals such as hop duration, hop timing and hop frequencies. Simulation results demonstrate that the estimation algorithm is accurate and efficient.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122015109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But it does not calibrate the image center so that the errors in the translation and rotation are induces by choosing a wrong image center. The proposed technique only requires the camera to observe a planar pattern shown at a few (at least two) different orientations and computes the image center using Z.Zhang method. The remaining parameters are calibrated with the accurate center estimate. Finally, we can refine the above solution through maximum likelihood criterion. Real data has been used to test the proposed technique and very good results have been obtained. Compared with Tsai's method, the proposed method is more accurate and simple.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128189237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model can accurately describe the geometrical relationship between the bistatic radars and the clutter scatterers, and it can be applied in any bistatic geometrical scenarios. On the basis of analyzing the geometrical relationship between the bistatic radars and the clutter scatterers in varying geometrical scenarios, the paper formulates mathematical expressions to describe the geometrical relationship. The method for deducing the expressions is introduced in detail. Finally, the Doppler-azimuth trajectories are provided with to examine the model via four bistatic geometrical scenarios and compared with that of multichannel airborne radar measurements (MCARM). The results prove that the model is accurate.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125989879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The anisotropic diffusion property of PDE is analyzed in this paper. For the different effects of forward and backward diffusion, some kinds of PDE smooth image well while some enhance edges. In this paper an adaptive image denoising model is proposed. The novel model diffuses differently based on gradient magnitude of image. The image parts which have large gradient magnitude are deemed as edges and textures, the adaptive model will enhance them. The selection of diffusion types changes gradually according to gradient magnitudes in different parts of image based on fuzzy theory. Both theoretical analysis and experiments have been used to verify that the novel adaptive image denoising model enhances edges while denoising.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126749428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed scheme can be implemented in IEEE 802.15.3c easily and it can become an improved access control method in contention access period (CAP) for existing IEEE 802.15.3 MAC. PTDBS has been validated using OPNET network simulator. This mechanism should avoid to stress the same hosts in the packet relaying. In fact, nodes used as router are often the same, especially if no mobility is present. This is because, in classic routing protocols, the cost functions do not vary (are usually equal to 1), and then, if no particular channel fluctuations or topology variations are present, routes selected to reach a given target involve the same central nodes. The proposed fairness scheme acts on the cost function of a given link, by multiplying it by an increasing weight every time the link is used; so, its further utilization is discouraged.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123751995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By the segmentation operation, an expected area of each palmprint can be extracted for the future feature extraction and matching. In the paper, an improved square-based segmentation method for palmprint alignment and extraction is presented. The approach successfully extracts three key points in a local area. The outside boundary of palm is approximated as a reference line to align palmprint images and the reference line is decided by these key points. In the aligned palmprint image, a coordinate system is set up and a central part of palmprint image is extracted. In addition, the method can automatically adjust the size of the extracted area according to the width of the palm. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of segmentation of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":220276,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131475796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
