Five kind of power quality disturbances such as voltage swells, voltage sags, voltage with harmonics, transients and flicker which last duration of 18 periods are constituted by using MATLAB. Sampling frequency is 12.8 kHz. Skewness and kurtosis coefficients of constituted signals are calculated in local frames. Changes of skewness and kurtosis coefficients' amplitudes determine the moment of occurrences of constituted disturbances. It is observed that only skewness or only kurtosis coefficients are not adequate for distinguishing voltage swells, voltage sags, voltage with harmonics, transients and flicker. Kukrer","doi":"10.1109/SIU.2009.5136337","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/SIU.2009.5136337","url":null,"abstract":"This paper investigates the performance of an adaptive filter, (Frequency-Response-Shaped Least Mean Square (FRS-LMS) algorithm) for canceling impulsive components when the nominal process (or background noise) is a correlated, possibly nonstationary, Gaussian process. The performance of the algorithm in estimating a BPSK signal corrupted by a white and correlated impulsive noise is investigated. The algorithm does not require a priori knowledge about the noise parameters, but requires knowledge of the signal frequency which can easily be estimated from its periodogram. The performance of the FRS-LMS is compared to that of the conventional LMS, the Leaky-LMS (L-LMS), and the Modified Leaky LMS (ML-LMS) algorithms in terms of Mean Square Error (MSE), convergence speed and Bit-Error-Rate (BER). The results indicate that the FRS-LMS algorithm performs approximately twice as better than the LMS and L-LMS algorithms in white impulsive noise environments, while the ML-LMS algorithm fails to converge. Also, it provides superior MSE and BER performance in correlated impulsive noise environments, while the other algorithms fail to converge. Hence, in stereo video encoding, the best overall rate vs. perceived-distortion performance may be achieved by reduction of the spatial, temporal and/or quantization resolution of the second view, while keeping the first view in full resolution. Objective stereo video quality metric is a crucial point for the success of unequal rate allocation. Since the perceived 3D video quality does not correlate well with the average PSNR of the two views, we proposed a new quantitative measure using a weighted combination of two PSNR values and a jerkiness measure [1]. In this paper, we investigate whether the PSNR weights should be related with spatial activity in different scaling options and video contents. Spatial activity is examined in terms of blockiness and blur. The 3D signals are then compressed, transmitted to the client side and reconstructed for the user view. Each step mentioned here opened a new subject in the field of signal processing. While processing these models, using the model as a whole is not the best approach. Therefore clustering the model vertices became a very common method. For example, it is very common to use motion based clustering in animation compression. In this paper a new dynamic model clustering algorithm is proposed. Animation vertices are first put through PCA and partitioned into their eigenvalues and eigenvectors. The eigenvectors found using the proposed method can be called eigentrajectories. Then the dot product of the these eigentrajectories with the trajectories of the animation vertice are found. These coefficients are used to cluster the animation model. Noise examples are assembled by means of the “ITU Underwater Ambient Noise Measurement and Recording System” in the Strait of Istanbul. Firstly, the analysis results of the data collected during the “no ship in the line of sight” period are shown. Then the same analysis was repeated for the data gathered during periods of various ships' cruising. Variances and frequency spectra of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMF) were estimated and the results were compared.
