The architecture of the Booster and some of these functions are succinctly described. As a concrete proof of the Booster power, the parallelization of an actual application is discussed. Both claims were demonstrated: dramatic acceleration of an optimization computation was achieved. The modifications were of a surgical nature, explaining why short development efforts are possible.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121891596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the glottal excited speech model, voiced speech is decomposed into a parametric glottal shaped excitation signal and an AR vocal tract filter. The new glottal determination method can be used iteratively with vocal tract filter updates in model analysis. In each iteration the new glottal pulse positioning is determined at sub-sample resolution using by a Multi-Dimensional Dynamic Time Warping (MD-DTW) algorithm, using an analysis-by-synthesis approach to minimize the squared-error between the original and the synthetic speech.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122694704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A specific example bank is used to assist in the understanding and use of this information that can be applied to all ungrounded neutral double-wye capacitor banks including modern all-film capacitors with external expulsion fuses. The performed analysis is based on the developed analytical expressions of state variables in unbalanced conditions of these capacitor banks. An approach to prevent a misoperation of the neutral current protection during the progressive failure of capacitor units is proposed.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115116693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The table-top CRM oscillator constructed in our laboratory operates with a low-energy (<5 keV), low-current (<1 A) electron beam. The electron beam is rotating in the cyclotron frequency due to an axial magnetic field produced by an external solenoid. The large electron transverse velocity, needed to obtain amplification in a TEM-CRM, is achieved by a strong kicker coil. The coplanar waveguide used in this experiment supports odd and even TEM-modes, and enables cyclotron interactions with both first and second harmonics. Microwave output power at the first cyclotron harmonic is observed in the range of 3-6 GHz, where the frequency is tuned by the axial magnetic field in this range. A considerable second harmonic emission is observed around 7 GHz frequency. This experiment may lead to the development of a new compact high-power microwave source.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131074484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The classical problem is that of supervised recognition, in which there is sufficient a priori information on the speakers to be identified. In such cases, the recognition system has speaker models, estimated during training sessions. This paper deals with the problem of unsupervised speaker classification, where no a priori speaker information is available. The algorithm accepts multi-speaker dialogue speech data, estimates the number of speakers and assigns each speech segment to its speaker. Preliminary results are described.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131108129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The parameters of the reflectance peak near 700 nm were employed for construction of algorithms for chlorophyll determination. The best model, validated by independent data sets, enabled estimation of chlorophyll concentration with an error <0.6 mg/m/sup 3/ for period of low Chl concentration and <6.5 mg/m/sup 3/ for period of the phytoplankton bloom. For the purpose of chlorophyll mapping in Lake Kinneret, the use of three relatively narrow spectral bands was sufficient. Radiometric data were also used to simulate radiances in the channels of TM Landsat and to find algorithm for chlorophyll assessment. The ratio (TM2-TM3)/TM1 was used to retrieve chlorophyll in the range 3-10 mg/m/sup 3/ with an error of <1 mg.m/sup -3/; the ratio TM4/TM3 was used to map chlorophyll in the range 10-200 mg/m/sup 3/ with 10 gradations.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133606239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The standard proofs use the property of total randomness of the ensemble of codes. For a more restricted ensemble of codes a specific proof is needed. This has been done, for example, for linear codes, time-varying convolutional codes and for constant composition (constant type) codes. In this work we show that weaker demands on the ensembles of codes, than independency of the code words, are needed. As a result, we get simple proofs of the channel coding theorem for interesting restricted ensembles of codes. As an example we can prove the channel coding theorem for the ensembles of codes based on the output of an LFSR (linear feedback shift register). A particularly interesting application of our technique is a proof that fixed (time-invariant) convolutional codes attain capacity.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"133 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114668755","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic AASS cell includes an inductor connected in series with the auxiliary switch of the converter, a capacitor connected in parallel with the main switch or main diode of the converter and an additional capacitor (designated a 'Flying' capacitor) connected through an auxiliary diode parallel to the inductor and through an extra auxiliary diode parallel to the main diode of the converter. The unified analysis of steady-state processes in a generalized AASS converter, carried out in this investigation, is applicable to various PWM topologies. It is shown that AASS ensures soft switching of all power devices and that the voltage and current stresses are not appreciably higher than in the corresponding hard switched PWM topologies. A design procedure for optimization of AASS parameters is developed. Experimental investigation (a Boost DC-DC converter 130/380 V, 1.1 kW, switching frequency 100...160 kHz) confirmed the results of the theoretical analysis.","PeriodicalId":219797,"journal":{"name":"Eighteenth Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1995-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121802261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
