This process has been validated through the realization, directly onto the fiber tip, of 2D metallo-dielectric nano-crystals, supporting local surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs). For a proof of concept a 1.5 km ring is assembled and a taper is used as a sensing head for measuring displacement. We focus on the design, fabrication and characterization of tunable metamaterials with unit cells based on Split Ring Resonators. By incorporation of a nematic liquid crystal in the structure, we observe a frequency shift in the resonant response over 10% in bandwidth and more than 10 dB change in the signal absorption. The substrate is based on a silver-made fractal nanotexture produced by the long-range self-assembling of Ag-loaded block-copolymer micelles. We removed the nano-packing limitation imposed by the copolymer shell, achieving a condition close to the so-called hyperuniform structural disorder. Despite the large enhancement factor, estimated up to 109, the SERS response shows an ultrahigh spatial uniformity with a relative standard deviation in the range 0.9% - 5.6%, as measured from raster scans covering a total area of 1 cm2, that is from an active surface orders of magnitude larger than the typical nanofeature size and produced by an innovative low-cost and immediate deposition. In this paper, we study the vectorial non-paraxial propagation of Gaussian field in the saturable absorber media numerically with the aim of nano-lithography. It is shown that in the optimal regimes for nanolithography, the mutual coupling between components of optical field and mode coupling between different orders of Hermite-Gaussian mode lead to generation of various patterns upon propagation through saturable absorber media. The vectorial effect is responsible for the symmetry breaking. For converging input beam, while the intense part of the beam goes toward the focal point, the low intensity parts of beam profile are eliminated. The method allows producing the quasiperiodic structure by a finite number of translational steps of a properly designed repeating unit. The quasiperiodic symmetry affects the diffraction pattern and its characteristics are analyzed via theoretical calculation of the Fourier spectrum of the structure. To face this technological challenge, we are investigating a new gyro, called gyroscope-on-chip (GoC), based on the InP photonic integrated circuits technology. The sensor we refer includes a passive ring resonator with a Q greater than one million and several optical/optoelectronic components all monolithically integrated on a single InP chip. Recent progress on the demonstration of the GoC is reported in this paper.
