As a consequence, there arise many research regarding individual or group mobility trends. However, due to the nature of privacy latent in mobility data, it is somewhat difficult to collect or use mobility data for research purpose. Taxi transportation data provided by Cities can be one of the solutions to cope with mobility raw data problem. In this paper, we propose a method to establish urban mobility model based on taxi transportation data with clustering technology. The result of urban mobility model can show the trend of urban mobility quantitatively and visually in spatio-temporal domain.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133766875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to provide incentives to stay physically active the potential of digital games gets evaluated in a scientific context towards their motivational effects. Games or game related applications offer a range of opportunities regarding the integration of physical activities replacing traditional controller input with bodily exertion, such as location-based mobile games. However, game design is a complex process and integrating physical activities in a meaningful way makes it even a greater challenge. With this work, we aim to provide a design case describing how this challenge can be approached. We illustrate how formal recommendations for physical activity by the World Health Organization and principals of meaningful play can inform the blueprint for the design of a location-based mobile game using a user-centered approach.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"42 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133056987","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general broadcasting systems, although the server can repetitively broadcast the same data to many clients, they have to wait until they have received all of the data to play them. Many researchers have proposed a division-based broadcasting technique with which the server can reduce the waiting time by dividing the data into several segments and frequently broadcasting precedent segments. In division-based broadcasting, the server makes a broadcast schedule that sets the division ratio of the video data based on time slots and available bandwidth. However, in heterogeneous client environments, since the available bandwidth for clients differs and the number of receivable channels for clients depends on their performances, conventional methods cannot effectively reduce the waiting time. In this paper, we propose a scheduling method to reduce the waiting time for heterogeneous clients based on the division ratios of video data. We apply our proposed method to a division-based broadcasting system and evaluate the waiting time by comparing the evaluation results of simulation and computer network environments.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115278731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cinematographic expert knowledge on scene composition and camera motion is provided to the user in the form of story boards that are tailored to specific use cases. We give an overview of the project concept and some selected components including algorithms that are required for video stabilization and shot classification. The goal is to translate the scene characteristics detected by the vision algorithms into real-time feedback to the user during video recording and to support post-production. Considering that music mainstream may be defined from different perspectives and on various levels, e.g., geographical (charts of a country), genre (\"Indie charts\"), or distribution channel (radio charts vs. download charts), we study how the user's music mainstreaminess influences the quality of music recommendations. The paper's contribution is three-fold. First, we propose 11 novel mainstreaminess measures characterizing music listeners, considering both a global and a country-specific basis. To this end, we model preference profiles (as a vector over artists) for users, countries, and globally, incorporating artist frequency, listener frequency, and a newly proposed TF-IDF-inspired weighting function, which we call artist frequency--inverse listener frequency (AF-ILF). The resulting preference profile for each user u is then related to the respective country-specific and global preference profile using fraction-based approaches, symmetrized Kullback-Leibler divergence, and Kendall's τ rank correlation, in order to quantify u's mainstreaminess. Second, we demonstrate country-specific peculiarities of these mainstreaminess definitions. Third, we show that incorporating the proposed global and country-specific mainstreaminess measures into the music recommendation process can notably improve accuracy of rating prediction.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"103 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115734498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The HoloMoL is originally developed as an MR platform to develop information memorization enhancing applications, but we found that the platform can be used to develop broader applications beyond simple information memorization enhancements. In particular, multiple memorization methods used by different participants found in the initial experiment of HoloMoL can be useful as an effective game mechanic to increase a game's engagement. This paper reports an overview of HoloMoL. Then, how the multiple memorization methods in HoloMoL can be used in designing a mobile pervasive game as a primary game mechanic is described. In particular, with the use of blockchain technology in future advanced mobile computing environments, the problem becomes more serious. In this paper, to solve the problem, we developed a simple virtual currency service that allows a user to operate the service by giving the user a new incentive based on gamification, not traditional economic incentives. We conducted experiments that show the feasibility of adopting the alternative incentive. The experiments also allowed us to extract some insights regarding the use of blockchain technology in future advanced mobile computing environments as an essential building block for developing future digital services.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130109335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A primary objective of this application is the detection of illegal crossing; intruder in the border area. However, the quality of the intruders detection affected by various conditions such as the sensor density, the sensor range, the area width and the intruder crossing paths. The latter is an important factor for evaluating the performance of the WSN based border surveillance as it differs from one intruder to another. An estimation of the intruders crossing paths is necessary then to provide a proper and efficient design of the network. For this, we focus in this paper on introducing the notion of intruder crossing path and developing a model that estimates the crossing time of the monitored area taking into account the characteristics of the area and the behavior of the intruders crossing this area. Then we propose a deployment method based on the intruders crossing paths that optimize the number of deployed sensors while ensuring an early and high detection level of the intruders.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133060740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We focused our study on determining the precise context for the capture of environmental noise through smartphones, and performed an analysis of the impact that the sensing task collection will have on energy consumption. To this purpose, we define different contexts to determine whether adequate environment sampling conditions are met, and we then apply classification algorithms to generate the most accurate decisions trees automatically. An analysis of resource consumption requirements associated with the different trees obtained shows that, despite their high accuracy, the resource consumption levels were prohibitive for this kind of applications. Thus, we propose an alternative decision tree that maintains the accuracy levels of automatically generated trees while significantly reducing the resource consumption introduced by the latter. Experimental results show that our proposed decision tree can reduce the energetic impact of our target application by about 60% when compared to the optimum theoretical tree generated through automatic classification procedures.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131378791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this kind of deployment cannot guarantee complete sensing coverage of large areas and both uncovered regions (coverage holes) or regions covered by more than one sensor (redundant sensors) arise. Therefore, it is mandatory to perform a second post-deployment operation to improve the coverage. In this paper, we consider the use of multi-robots to relocate redundant sensors and cover the holes. The main goal of this work is to develop a new path planning algorithm, based on Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP), to enable robots to efficiently relocate sensor nodes and cover the holes. We propose a heuristic algorithm to solve the problem of relocation by defining an on optimal path that comprises redundant sensors and holes where the robots have to follows this path to relocate the redundant sensors in the holes. Simulation results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm, as compared to existing solution, in term of the distance traveled by robots and the average relocation time.","PeriodicalId":218635,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing & Multimedia","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124132510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
