A close attention is devoted to the results obtained recently in our group. They reveal the crucial role of dispersion profile impact on SC generation in ANDi PCFs. Found optimal fiber profiles show the way for designing of novel ANDi PCFs which would allow potentially extend the SC generation in ANDi PCFs up to two octaves. Designing of such fibers could be made applying inverse dispersion engineering approaches.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124765043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However they have a serious disadvantage that, especially in high power operation regimes, the emitted beam structure is relatively bad (with large angular divergence). We show that the intracavity photonic crystals with spatial filtering functionality, can strongly improve the spatial characteristics of the microchip laser. The angular divergence of the emitted beam is strongly reduced, and the radiation brightness is significantly increased due to the intracavity photonic crystal filter.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122148198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 3D real-space multi-valley envelope function equations have been computed by means of the finite element methods using adaptive unstructured grid and a variational technique to compute corrections caused by the valley-orbit coupling. Obtained results evidence an interplay between the valley-orbit coupling and electronic coupling of two couped donors.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133645557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Samples have been fabricated with high-resolution electron-beam lithography on polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) resist layer spun over a glass substrate and the high quality has been inspected with scanning electron microscopy and optical characterization. Various designs are presented for the sorting of optical vortices differing in either OAM content or beam size at the selected wavelength 1=632.8 nm, with several steering geometries in far-field, combining OAM-mode division and spatial division multiplexing on the same optical platform. The optical characterization has been performed in terms of channel efficiency and inter-channel cross-talk, exhibiting remarkable optical performance.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"179 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133653986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Immersion spectroscopy methods were used to inspect the \"photonic forbidden zone\" and the peculiarities of Bragg reflection in the material. A temporal response of luminescence from artificial opal excited by nitrogen laser UV pulses at room and liquid-nitrogen temperatures was examined. The afterglow with the decay time to about 1 second was found to appear at about 135 K. The temperature dependence of luminescence is of importance for explanation of the surprising effects of stimulated emission in a single nano-sized SiO2 globule and second harmonic generation in the material under high-power excitation from Ti:Sapphire femtosecond laser.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122344080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The specific structures such as Bragg mirrors, resonators, and structures with chirp variation of thickness of the \"period\" have been considered. The calculation has been carried out under the conditions that carrier frequency is in the vicinity of the Bragg resonance values. Integral (mass center) and differential (group) estimates of the delay time and widening have been compared. The conditions for the appearance of anomalous (negative) mass center delay of the reflected pulses have been determined. The shape transformations of pulses illuminating periodic and quasiperiodic apodized Bragg reflectors have been under consideration. Spatial apodization of permittivity contrast yields much smaller shape deformation of the transmitted wave upon carrier frequency near the edges of reflection band, as well in Bragg reflection band, in comparison with phenomena in similar periodic structures.","PeriodicalId":218575,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 7th International Conference on Advanced Optoelectronics and Lasers (CAOL)","volume":"344 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122761273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
