Material and Methods A retrospective, cross-sectional analysis was performed using the nationwide inpatient sample (NIS) for the period 2008-2017. The primary exposure was narcolepsy with cataplexy, narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), and without cataplexy, narcolepsy type 2 (NT2), and the endpoints were a composite of maternal-fetal outcomes or risk factors. Results A total of 7,742 hospitalizations among pregnant women with narcolepsy were identified (prevalence = 17.6 per 100,000), of which 6,769 (88%) were diagnosed with NT2. Statistically significant positive associations were found between narcolepsy and the following conditions: obesity (odds ratio (OR): 2.99, confidence interval (CI): 2.4-3.74), anemia (OR=1.41, CI: 1.13-1.77), pre-pregnancy hypertension (OR=1.93, CI: 1.37-2.7), pre-pregnancy diabetes (OR=1.7, CI: 1.08-2.84), and gestational hypertension (OR=1.58, CI: 1.13-2.20) in the ICD-9 group. Similar findings were noted in the ICD-10 group with the exception of gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, and anemia. Conclusion Given these important findings, we propose a global approach of screening for narcolepsy among women of reproductive age with pre-existing risk factors prior to conception to minimize pregnancy complications.","PeriodicalId":21848,"journal":{"name":"Sleep Science","volume":" ","pages":"297-304"},"PeriodicalIF":1.6,"publicationDate":"2022-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9496492/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"33484270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through continuous care model, it is possible to achieve an efficient recognition of the problems of these patients and allow them to participate in solving their health issues. The effects of continuous care model on sleep quality in postmenopausal women were examined. Material and Methods Totally, 110 postmenopausal women visiting health center in Kermanshah, Iran took part in this clinical trial. The participants were selected between May 2017 and September 2017. The participants were allocated to control and experimental groups randomly each with 55 members. The normal cares were provided to the control group, while the experimental groups took part in group consultation sessions (once every week, four session each 60-90min). Quality of sleep was examined based on Pittsburg sleep quality index before the intervention, immediately after the intervention, and a month flowing the completion of the intervention. For data analyzing, Friedman’s test, Mann-Whitney test, and chi-square test were used in SPSS. Results A significant difference was found in the mean scores of the quality of sleep in the experimental group in three measurements occasions in the study ( p =0.001). Despite lack of any significant difference before the intervention between the two groups, there was a significant decrease in the sleep quality score in the experimental group one month after the completion of the intervention compared to the control group ( p <0.05). Questionnaires concerning sleep quality, patterns and its modifications during lockdown were distributed from June to August 2020. Comparison with a control sample from previous study (2019). Statistical analysis on SPSS Statistics23. Results: Two groups were compared: during lockdown (n=36, mean age 9.3 years-old) and before lockdown (n=48, mean age 8.8 years-old). 55.6% stated changes in sleep patterns. There was an increase in sleep hours, specifically in school-aged children (p=0.05) and adolescents (p=0.03), with no impact in global subjective sleep quality. Significative increase in screen hours (p=0.02) and its use after dinner (p=0.04). Discussion: Changes in sleep patterns during lockdown were frequent, alongside a higher use of screens. However, these did not affect the subjective sleep quality nor increased the occurrence of sleep disturbances.","PeriodicalId":21848,"journal":{"name":"Sleep Science","volume":"118 1","pages":"388 - 392"},"PeriodicalIF":1.6,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82843836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
