They contain shell-like configurations in the ground-state region, core-plus-alpha states above the alpha-separation energy, and exotic cluster states from heavy-ion reactions. The excitation energy and the quadrupole deformation cover large ranges. The gross features of the spectra are reasonably well reproduced by a simple Hamiltonian, in some cases even parameter-free predictions are obtained for high-lying cluster spectra from the low-lying quartet bands in good agreement with experimental observation.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134497641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A proposed interpretation has been that these bands variously represent triaxial rotation and prolate axially-deformed rotation. The bands are well-reproduced in ab initio no-core configuration interaction (NCCI) calculations. We use the calculated wave functions to elucidate the nuclear shapes underlying these bands, by examining the Elliott SU(3) symmetry content of these wave functions. The ab initio results support an interpretation in which the ground-state band, along with an accompanying K=2 side band, represent a triaxial rotor, arising from an SU(3) irreducible representation in the 0 hbar omega space. Then, the lowest excited K=0 band represents a prolate rotor, arising from an SU(3) irreducible representation in the 2 hbar omega space.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127215922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using major classes of covariant energy density functionals (CEDFs), the global accuracy of the description of experimental absolute and differential charge radii within the CDFT framework has been established. This assessment is supplemented by an evaluation of theoretical statistical and systematic uncertainties in the description of charge radii. New results on the accuracy of the description of differential charge radii in deformed actinides and light superheavy nuclei are presented and the role of octupole deformation in their reproduction is evaluated. Novel mechanisms leading to odd-even staggering in charge radii are discussed. Finally, we analyze the role of self-consistency effects in an accurate description of differential charge radii.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129721185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that it corresponds to a microscopic version of the Bohr-Mottelson collective model which captures the original relationships between its exactly solvable submodel limits. It is worth claiming that, at the moment, strong evidence that the temperature of the stars is zero during the last orbits before coalescing does not exist. Contrariwise, there are some theoretical predictions suggesting that the star’s temperature might even be a few MeV. According to the main theory, the tides transfer mechanical energy and angular momentum to the star at the expense of the orbit, where friction within the star converts the mechanical energy into heat. During the inspiral these effects are potentially detectable. Different treatments have been used to estimate the transfer of the mechanical energy and the size of the tidal friction, leading to different conclusions about the importance of pre-merger tidal effects. The present work is dedicated to the study of the effect of temperature on the tidal deformability of neutron stars during the inspiral of a neutron star system just before the merger. We applied a class of hot equations of state originated from various nuclear models and found that even for low values of temperature (T < 1 MeV) the effects on the basic ingredients of tidal deformability are not negligible. However, according to the main finding, the effect of the temperature on the tidal deformability is indistinguishable. The consequences of this unexpected result are discussed and analyzed.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133207271","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When introduced in 2017, the approximation had been justified by calculations carried out within the Nilsson model, with nucleon pairs differing by $Delta K [Delta N Delta n_z Delta Lambda]=0[110]$ in the Nilsson quantum numbers playing a major role in the approximation. Recently our group managed to map the cartesian basis of the Elliott SU(3) model onto the spherical shell model basis, fully clarifying the approximations used within the proxy-SU(3) scheme and paving the way for using the proxy-SU(3) approximation in shell model calculations for heavy nuclei. As a by-product, the relation of the 0[110] Nilsson pairs used in proxy-SU(3) to the earlier used de Shalit-Goldhaber pairs $|Delta n Delta l Delta j Delta m_jrangle = | 0110rangle$ in spherical shell model notation is clarified, while the Federman-Pittel (FP) pairs known to play a major role at the onset of deformation are identified as $| 0010rangle$ pairs, and the FP pairs further increasing the deformation after its onset are found to be $| 0110rangle$ pairs, i.e. identical to the de-Shalit-Goldhaber pairs. The connection between the proxy-SU(3) scheme and the spherical shell model has also been worked out in the original framework of the Nilsson model, with identical results.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130078330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This deflection of light has been calculated by many researchers in past, for spherically symmetric objects. But, in reality, most of these gravitating objects are not spherical instead they are ellipsoidal ( oblate) in shape. The objective of the present work is to study theoretically the effect of this ellipticity on the trajectory of a light ray. Here, we obtain a converging series expression for the deflection of a light ray due to an ellipsoidal gravitating object, characterised by an ellipticity parameter. As a boundary condition, by setting the ellipticity parameter to be equal to zero, we get back the same expression for deflection as due to Schwarzschild object. It is also found that the additional contribution in deflection angle due to this ellipticity though small, but could be typically higher than the similar contribution caused by the rotation of a celestial object. Therefore for a precise estimate of the deflection due to a celestial object, the calculations presented here would be useful.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-04-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122831965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each field is expressed as a linear combination of the scalar basis functions (whose derivatives can be expressed in terms of the Dirac delta function) with rotationally invariant coefficients. Using this formalism mapped to continuum theory with its corresponding ultraviolet cut-off energy, the cosmological constant was related to the cut-off energy of the quadratic Higgs self-energy. Using current particle-cosmological particle and cosmological data, this study determines the Minkowski cut-off energy. From the literature, examinations find an experimental break in the cosmic ray energy spectrum called a 'knee' at about 3 PeV, which agrees with this theoretical ultraviolet cut-off energy. The origin of cosmic rays is understood astrophysically below 1 PeV, while it is unclear above 3 PeV. By analogy to solid state physics, additional energy contributions from basis functions may result in the tail of the energy spectrum above the cut-off energy. The basis functions reproduce experimental spectra above the ultraviolet cut-off energy. The knee is caused by the diffuse scattering of cosmic rays by the irregular space-time lattice. Since this diffuse scattering indicates high scattering probabilities for particles with a tiny/zero rest mass, this theory is consistent with the absence of any experimental detection of photons and neutrinos above about the knee energy.","PeriodicalId":217381,"journal":{"name":"Bulgarian Journal of Physics","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133234674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
