We present a classical solution in terms of the parallel connection of a robust stabilizer and an internal model, where the latter is adaptively tuned to the device that reproduces the control required to maintain the output-zeroing condition. We obtain robust regulation (i.e. in presence of parameter uncertainties) with a semiglobal domain of convergence for a significant class of nonlinear minimum-phase system.","PeriodicalId":217237,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. The Internet's diversity and dynamism demands that video streams adapt to ensure maximum quality at all times. This paper describes the control challenges we have encountered in the Quasar project's \"multi-level\" adaptive streaming video player. We first describe the framework and environment of the player. This framework uses software feedback to control resource allocation as well as the quality of media delivery. We present the control challenges raised by our framework which include horizontal and vertical feedback composition, difficult to model systems, and unpredictable, nonlinear actuators. We describe some of the approaches we are taking to address these challenges, related work, and future application areas and the challenges they will raise.","PeriodicalId":217237,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. By exploiting solution properties of the differential equation and combining those properties with adaptive control techniques, a robust adaptive control algorithm is developed without constructing a hysteresis inverse. The new control law ensures global stability of the adaptive system and achieves both stabilization and tracking to within a desired precision. Simulations performed on a nonlinear system illustrate and clarify the approach.","PeriodicalId":217237,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. The proposed algorithm imposes nonlinear kinematic constraints on the state estimates without destabilizing the algorithm. Such constraints can be most naturally incorporated in the Bayesian bootstrap filtering framework. LMI based techniques are used to design the output dependent switching surface and to determine a control law to effect a sliding motion. The reachability condition is not required to be satisfied globally. Instead sliding is only expected to take place within a subset of the state-space referred to as the sliding patch. The LMI optimisation seeks to maximise the sliding patch subject to certain constraints. The efficacy of the proposed control design method is demonstrated on a non-trivial design example-an aircraft system representation which includes the flexible modes of the airframe.","PeriodicalId":217237,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. The convergence of the iterative process is investigated and reformulated as a general robust control problem. For a certain choice of the IMC and ILC filters, we prove that the condition of convergence to zero of the iterative process is nothing but the robust performance condition of the IMC structure. Using the general robust control formulation, we propose a design procedure for the ILC-IMC filters using the /spl mu/-synthesis approach.","PeriodicalId":217237,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 39th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat.
