Halpin-Tsai model was originally presented to calculate the tensile modulus of composites, which can be modified for the estimation of the electrical conductivity by replacing the electrical parameters. The nature of the “b” exponent in the power-law model is defined according to CNT dimensions, CNT electrical conductivity, and the interphase thickness, and also the impacts of these parameters on the “b” and the electrical conductivity of nanocomposite are taken into consideration. The developed model interprets that the electrical conductivity of polymer-CNT nanocomposite increases as the concentration, length, and electrical conductivity of CNT and the interphase thickness increase. Furthermore, reduction in CNT diameter and waviness results in the growth of nanocomposite electrical conductivity. In order to validate the developed model, nanocomposite samples with different volume fractions were produced by the solid-state technique of the melt-blending method. The results of calculations and experimental procedures show good agreement.","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115354655","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this research, two partially-premixed ratios of 25% and 50% are considered. The reactor is mounted horizontally, made from quartz material and its geometric characteristics are internal diameter: 5 mm, wall thickness: 1 mm, and length: 10 cm. In this research, we have tried to determine the factors affecting flame regimes. The range of flame regimes, flame dynamics, the outer wall temperature distribution of the reactor, frequency, and oscillation of oscillating flames, along with the intensity of the Repetitive Extinction and ReIgnition (RERI) extinguishing sound, were analyzed and reported. This flame's dynamics are more affected by changes in mixing ratio, oxygen volume flow rate, and fuel volume flow rate, causing changes in inlet flow velocity and equivalence ratio, respectively. Examination of the results of acoustic oscillations indicates an increase in oscillating flame velocity with increasing volumetric flow and mixing ratio. Loud extinguishing sound of flames when quenching is caused by converting a portion of the thermal energy of the flame into sound in the flame arrestor and the acoustic vibration waves resulting from the extinguishing of the flame and the difference in gas velocity. and Oscillating Frequencies of Flame in a Fixed-Geometry","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126160650","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, after modeling a multi-effect evaporative desalination system MED and simultaneous heat and power generation CHP, they are combined to meet the demand for heating, power, and freshwater for a hotel. The purpose of this study is the thermoeconomic evaluation of the use of thermal energy storage TES tank in the combined system CHP + MED compared to the non-use of this tank. The strategy is applied every 24 hours of the two seasons. In optimizing this system, the annual cost minimization has been done as an objective function and using a genetic algorithm. Optimal technical results in these systems show that the system CHP + MED + TES requires a gas turbine with a nominal capacity of 12% larger and a backup boiler with a nominal capacity of 7.14% smaller than the system CHP + MED. The optimal results of the economic comparison show that the annual cost is improved by 4.91% by using the thermal energy storage tank in the combined system CHP + MED .","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129141239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, two different grids are made and a contraction channel is installed behind it inside the subsonic wind tunnel to generate anisotropic turbulence flow. The grids with mesh sizes of 2/54 cm and 5/08 cm were cut on the wood with an obstruction ratio of 0/34 and 0/17, respectively. One-dimensional hot wire was used to determine the perturbation velocities in the direction of flow, and an approximation was used to determine the components of other directions. At speeds of 5 m/s and 10 m/s, experiments were performed for each of the grids, which range from a Reynolds number of 8500 to about 33000. To determine the onset of the isotropic location, methods of velocity skewness, kurtosis, turbulence intensity, dissipation rate, and longitudinal scales such as Kolmogorov and Taylor lengths were used. For skewness and kurtosis, the numbers show 0 and 3, respectively, which indicate the isotropic flow. Results showed that with increasing the velocity, the isotropy of the flow was delayed. Also, in a grid with a lower obstruction ratio, the intensity of turbulence will be less near the grid, but as it moves away from the grid, the intensity of turbulence will increase. of by in and [1] Decay of turbulence generated by a square-fractal-element grid. Replacing a damaged part is the easiest way to prevent failure, but it is not always cost-effective. Therefore, in many cases, by repairing a component, the life of defective working parts can be increased. One of the effective strategies, is mending the cracked area using composite patches which are glued in crack formation place. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of patch on crack growth behavior as well as the effects of patch geometry on the mechanical properties of repaired Al5251 aluminum alloy. For this purpose, a Kevlar-epoxy composite patch with rectangular and H-shaped geometry has been used. Tensile test was performed to evaluate the mechanical properties and the crack growth behavior in the samples. The influences of effective area and geometry shape of the patch on the maximum tensile force applicable, specimen ductility, toughness and crack forming force have been investigated. The results showed that with the use of composite patch, ductility, force at the moment of cracking and the failure force increased compared to samples without repair. Also, comparison of patches with equal effective area showed that samples repaired with H-shaped patch have more load capacity than rectangular patch. In addition, the amount of toughness in the sample repaired with H-shaped patch has increased. To create the compressive residual stress, shot peening operations were used at 5, 10, 15 and 20 minutes. Microstructural studies by optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that with increasing shot peening time, the thickness of the plastic deformation area increases so that the plastic deformation area can be divided into three plastic deformation areas. Severe, ordinary plastic deformation and the area affected by plastic deformation. Calculations on the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) showed that with increasing shot peening time, the amount of compressive residual stress increases to 694 MPa. With increasing compressive residual stress on the surface, the wear resistance of the samples increased up to 90% due to the increase in the density of dislocations and grain refining. Also, the investigation of worn surfaces by SEM showed that the wear mechanism in the samples is oxide adhesive wear and increasing the residual stress of the samples causes the transfer of the wear regime to mild wear abrasion with the appearance of crater areas. The quality and properties of the cladding layer are determined by many factors such as cladding geometry, microstructure, dilution ratio, defects, distortion, surface smoothness, metallurgical changes in the substrate and process efficiency. In this paper, the effect of important parameters of the cladding process on the geometric shape, hardness and dilution ratio of the cladding layers of martensitic stainless steel (17-4 PH ) on the substrate of plain carbon steel by solid-state continuous laser with maximum power 2 kW and the method of direct deposition of metal powder are discussed. Variable parameters of laser cladding including powder feed rate, laser scanning speed and laser power have been studied. The parameters of surface quality, geometric shape and absence of porosity have been evaluated and compared. The minimum dilution about 9% was obtained at a 10 mm/s scanning speed, 10 g/min powder feed rate and 330 watts laser power. The results have been showed, appropriate incorporation and uniform distribution of cladding powder has created a cladding surface without any crack and porosity. By studying the hardness of the samples, it has been concluded that the hardness of the substrate surface has increased after cladding. on Cladding of Martensitic Stainless-Steel on Plain Carbon Steel: Cladding Geometry,","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129583640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Compressed air energy storage systems and pumped hydroelectric have a high potential for applying renewable energy systems in terms of power and storage time, but both have environmental and site limitations. The hybrid system of compressed air energy storage and pumped hydroelectric with the advantages of both systems is suitable for wide applications. So far, less research has been done to analyze this hybrid system, and therefore the relationship between system parameters and system efficiency required further investigation. Also, the combined systems presented in previous research have two problems; Water evaporation and limitations in system operating pressure. In this paper, a new hybrid system is presented in which the rate of water evaporation is minimized by modifying the structure of the previous systems, and also the limitation of the operating pressure is determined by the existing compression technology. The present study showed that the ratio of air volume to high-pressure tank volume has the greatest effect on system efficiency and is a determining parameter. The amount of energy saved in the current research system is significant compared to previous research and a roundtrip efficiency of 90% can be obtained. The energy analysis of the present paper determined the parameter's interaction and their limitations in order to pave the way for design and feasibility.","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128618974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the existing methods, the use of a non-contact digital image overlay system for troubleshooting composites has been considered because of its advantages. In this research, using the digital image overlay method, the shape, position, and area of the failure area in six-layer glass/epoxy samples with impact damage with different energies under different loads have been investigated. Five composite specimens with impact energies of 5, 10, 20, 30, and 40 joules were tested. At an energy of 5 joules, the damage to the piece was very small, and at an energy of 40 joules, the amount of damage to the piece was such that the bullet got stuck inside the piece and the impact site remained as a hole in the piece. The areas obtained for the impact area in the strain contours at loads of 40% have values close to the actual area of damage. By comparing the area obtained from the strain contour at 40% load and the actual damage area, for the 10 joules, 20 joules, and 30-joule conditions, the difference in area is about 2.3%, about 2.5%, and 3.1%, respectively.","PeriodicalId":217174,"journal":{"name":"Modares Mechanical Engineering","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114254799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
