Plastics being considered the benign substances came into headlines when their presence was first detected in the food chain. These plastics can persist in the environment for hundreds of years. Degrading these persistant pollutant is of major concern for many scientists across the globe. Incinerating plastics is one option but it has many environmental consequences. Besides, bioremediation is the process that many scientists are interested in, as different microbes has the ability to degrade plastics at different rates. Research is needed to come up with the economical and eco-friendly approaches, fast enough to degrade tons of plastic with minimum effect on the environment. Major concern is not only degrading plastics but also minimizing its use and coming up with alternatives that are not only eco-friendly but also cost effective.","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88018398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, determining the solution of delay differential equations has become a difficult task more especially the nonlinear type. Therefore, this work proposes a new analytical method for solving non-linear delay differential equations. The new method is combination of Natural transform and Homotopy analysis method. The approach gives solutions inform of rapid convergence series where the nonlinear terms are simply computed using He's polynomial. Some examples are given, and the results obtained indicate that the approach is efficient in solving different form of nonlinear DDEs which reduces the computational sizes and avoid round-off of errors.","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"201 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88354961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore health risk assessment through multiple pathways is required for the health safety of the population. However, few studies to date estimate the health risk of heavy metals via different pathways on urban soils.  Samples of urban soils  were collected from urban environments of Petaling Jaya, and were analysed for As, Cd, Cr, Cu and Pb. The health risks for adults as a result of ingestion, dermal and inhalation exposure were then estimated.  The results showed that the urban soils  were polluted with these metals. This could be due to anthropoenic input. The concentration of the metals in soils follows the decreasing order Pb > As > Cr > Cu and Cd. Ingestion is the main route for exposure to heavy metals. Both the carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk values are within the permissible limits. Adults could be vulnerable to non-carcinogenic health risk (HI) on exposure to As in urban soil.  \u0000Keyword: health risk, heavy metals, soils, dusts","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"34 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82087886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To quantify the risks associated with oral ingestion of urban dust particularly by children, bioavalability fraction is required, as the total metal content may not give the real risk involved. Lead (Pb), Arsenic (As) and Cadmium (Cd) were analysed for bioavailable fraction in urban dust of this study. The risks of these metals on ingestion of urban dust by children were estimated. The results showed that metals solubilized in the gastrointestinal tract. This could possibly be due to metal distribution in the dust sample and the solubilisation of these metals in the gastrointestinal tract. The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks results expressed that all the values were within the permissible limits of 1×10-6 1×10-4 with the order As > Cd > Pb. This indicates that children who ingested dust could have no possibility of both carcinogenic and non-cancer risks because both the CR, TCR and HQ and HI values were below the tolerable limits. \u0000Keywords: Bioavailability; risks; metals; urban dust","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"68 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87003358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various programs have been provided by the Indonesian government, such as providing information, giving brochures, and giving announcements on the health service website. But this counseling is not optimal because of the elderly, tend to be lazy to read this because the eyes have started to farsight. So that the health information provided by dina health can be optimal we try to make a model that is used to summarize an article so that the article is easily understood by the elderly. To summarize the article, this study uses the TF-IDF algorithm. By using the TF-IDF algorithm it is expected that the elderly will be easier to understand health articles.","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"199 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76036739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model is modified to incorporate  seasonal-dependent mosquito birth rate in order to examine the influence of climatic factors such as rainfall and temperature on the dynamics of mosquito population and dengue disease transmission. The Next Generation Matrix method is used to obtain the basic reproduction number associated with the model without seasonality effect. The global dynamics of the model is analysed using the Comparison Theorem. The model is simulated in MATLAB with ode45 routine for two cases, namely: the less aggressive case (Case ) and the more aggressive case (Case ).  Analysis of the model shows that the Disease-Free Equilibrium (DFE) is locally asymptotically stable whenever both the basic reproduction numbers  R01 (associated with strain  only) and  R0j (associated with strain  only) are below unity. It is shown that the DFE is globally asymptotically stable when the susceptibility indices for secondary infection in strain  1 ( sigma1) and strain j ( sigmaj), and  are all less than 1.","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88579335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moisture comes from perspiration or hose spray absorbed in the personal protective clothing and steam burn injury  occur with continuous heat exposure. The heat transfer from the heat flux is enhanced due to transformation material properties that holds high thermal conductivity and heat conductivity. Finite element method is used to predict steam burn injury among firefighters. The model is developed in 1dimensional cylinderical quarter geometry representing the human limb. It is discovered the skin temperature 10°C increases with wet material than dry material. The pain threshold at the lower arm of wet material condition is formed 40second rapidly compare to dry material condition. The first degree burn occur at t=9.5second sooner than the dry condition t=25second. The skin temperature increases with the wet material resulting severe skin burn. It is found that the wet personal protective clothing had compromised its thermal protection. Therefore, firefighters will experience high risk of thermal hazard.","PeriodicalId":21574,"journal":{"name":"Science Proceedings Series","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-03-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77989275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
