Original ideas are to postulate relationality as assets that community people individually earn, and to elicit their awareness of relationality assets as trust. In addition, we aim to create a mechanism through which community people invest their relationality assets to relationality itself so as to increase their assets, so that they themselves can manage and sustain the mechanism. In order to investigate how to design the mechanism and verify its effectiveness, we have conducted field works with residents in a community for years. We acquired residents’ activity data with smartphones lent to them in the community, and activity data means “location information,” “send and receive emails,” “telephones reception and transmission” and “passing-each-other data from Bluetooth. In this paper, we focus on research concept, scheme and approach of this research and discuss their significance based on some results of field experiments and simulations.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115280644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the big challenges with integrating renewables into the grid is that their power generation is intermittent and unruly. Thus, the task of solar power forecasting becomes vital to ensure grid constancy and to enable an optimal unit commitment and cost-effective dispatch. Latest techniques and approaches arise worldwide each year to progress accuracy of models with the vital aim of reducing uncertainty in the predictions. This paper appears with the aim of compiling a big part of the knowledge about solar power forecasting, focusing on the most recent advancements and future trends. Firstly, the inspiration to achieve an accurate forecast is presented with the analysis of the economic implications it may have. To address the problem and we rummage superlative prediction models for forecasting solar radiation using machine learning techniques. We compare multiple regression techniques for generating prediction models, including linear least squares and support vector machines using multiple kernel functions. In our experiments, we analyze predictions for day ahead solar radiation data and show that a machine learning approach yields feasible results for short-term solar power prediction. A root mean square error improvement of around 32% is achieved by the proposed model compared to others proposed reference model except one.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131098265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, investigating the Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in large numbers of classrooms is often too costly because currently available commercial brands are too expensive for the majority of schools. We have been developing a low-cost Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) platform called SKOMOBO which can monitor important IAQ parameters such as classroom temperature, relative humidly, particular matter and carbon dioxide level. Because our platform is designed in-house and utilizes low-cost sensors, there is a significant cost reduction and is affordable. In this paper, we discuss the design and implementation of SKOMOBO with the focus in several hardware and software engineering issues to explore the right set of strategies for developing a practical system. Through extensive experiments and evaluation, we have determined the various characteristic and issues associated with developing a low-cost sensor platform and their practical implications and mitigations.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125393765","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EEG based BCIs are indeed very promising for people suffering from neuromuscular disorder, but still lack adoption as access modalities outside laboratories. Two major factors responsible for this are (a) User variability: huge performance variations among and within user; (b) Signal Variability: High signal variations within or in between BCI sessions. To some extent advanced signal processing and classification methods can adapt with these variability. This makes machines to adapt with users; however these techniques do not focus on cause of these user and signal variability. Co-adaptive BCI systems are newly introduced concept which identify cause of variability and incorporate appropriate action for it. This enables both user and machine adapt with each other. This review paper describes a framework for co-adaptive BCI system as an initial point for any adaptive BCI solution.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127757201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wind farms have had significant growth in past decades; however, they require a massive investment to setup including heavy towers, large land scale and huge blades. Betz’s law states that the maximum power of the wind turbine can harvest only 59.3%. Therefore, surfing kites have been proposed as a promising electricity generation alternative. This study aims to build a suitable simulation platform to study the modeling and control of kite for power generation. In this paper, different types of the kite and their control paradigm have been reviewed and two-line surf kites have been identified as the subject of the investigation. By analyzing Newtonian mechanics theory, the dynamic model of a kite is established. Moreover, the kite power generation cycle and retraction cycle is explained. ?n this paper, the simulation results demonstrate the power generation ability of a two-line surf kite. Considering the input constraints, a linear control system is proposed and simulated to make the kite achieve a figure eight configuration needed for power generation. The Simulink toolbox has then been employed to simulate the linear control scheme to determine its stability and performance.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127623921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efforts are always made to achieve further improvements in precision of these estimates. Not only does it depend on the sample sizes but also on the heterogeneity of the population units. Stratification in univariate populations has been explored by numerous researchers, many of whom have proposed competing algorithms that help surveyors determine efficient stratum boundaries. This paper takes into consideration the best criterion of using the estimated frequency distribution of the univariate population. To construct the strata boundaries, suitable cut-points are placed on the range of the estimated distribution using the dynamic programming algorithm which leads to globally optimum solutions. This paper investigates if the choice of the estimated distribution leads to different strata boundaries and hence contributes to the efficiency of the results. A numerical example using real data is presented to find answers to the question of whether the choice of distribution does or does not matter.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129316886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is however losing its popularity due to various factors of which energy and irrigation are crucial ones. A cost effective irrigation system integrated with Renewable energy would be the answer to support the papaya industry in Fiji. Farms are located in remote places where the grid connectivity is mostly unavailable for irrigation. Moreover a lot of water wastage occurs in the land during farming practices, due to traditional methods of irrigation, consequently increasing energy usages. The proposed idea will mainly focus on a solar powered irrigation system which will also give the farmers remote access to monitor the soil condition for the plant using sensor networks. The operation of the sensor networking system is based on feedback control algorithm. Crops can be irrigated once the water requirements arise from moisture sensors via microcontroller. Moisture sensor signals will be cross checked with the real time weather observation module signals to minimize the unnecessary watering of the crops at a cost effective manner called optimized irrigation. Optimized irrigation is one of the powerful sources to monitor uninterruptedly and habitually using renewable energy, smart and water management schemes to increase agro-production. This paper presents possible reasons for down growth of the papaya production in Fiji and proposes a method of reviving the production by using an optimized smart irrigation to conserve electricity and saving water resulting a reliable and efficient irrigation system for many Pacific Island Countries.","PeriodicalId":215519,"journal":{"name":"2017 4th Asia-Pacific World Congress on Computer Science and Engineering (APWC on CSE)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115080014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
