This promising technique is established in this article for the non-invasive and in vivo characterization of the optical properties of tissues for diagnostic applications. We have introduced a new compact and inexpensive architecture for DRS based on the use of a multispectral image sensor and LEDs to obtain a diffuse reflectance signal in contact with the skin. For the proof of concept, a prototype device, involving a spectrometer coupled to an optical fiber, a microcontroller, a set of 8 LEDs and a computer, was developed, manufactured and set up. Diffuse reflectance profiles were acquired at 438.2 nm, 544.5 nm and 613.7 nm. Indeed, the spectrum of Mycobacterium ulcerans was established by this method at 256 nm and 365.2 nm. The results obtained confirm the potential of our approach for the quantitative characterization of the optical properties of tissues.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"192 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121735800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This arrangement offers high benefits related to receiver area reduction and the advantages of being the storage system near to the receiver. However, in the practical implementation different optical losses are increased due to the boundary conditions of the systems or components available. As a result of the analysis performed to implement a beam-down concept at the CESA-1 solar field, the limitations and handicaps to overcome in order to achieve high efficiencies of the system are identified and presented.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115956557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These two characteristics are defined for a constant RF input power level. This work proposes a characterization of the performance of a rectifying antenna (rectenna) under non-static operating conditions. A rectenna design method is intended for the harvesting of ambient RF energy. The ambient power density levels in the 2.4 GHz bands are measured and reported in this work. A rectenna optimized to achieve optimal performance at the average detected power is proposed. Unlike previous work, the rectenna is characterized in terms of output DC voltage, conversion efficiency, and the Battery Recharging Time (BRT). It is also evaluated the performance of a Wireless Sensor Node (WSN) powered by the proposed rectenna. An average signal power of -1.55 dBm is obtained, and considering a mesh type network, it is obtained that a WSN can transmit data of a size of 4 kbits at more than 150 m based on the detected ambient power.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131954246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Substantial research has been performed on this field with respect to the behaviors driving the consumption of electrical energy, especially in residential environments. This has also resulted in the development of both hardware and software infrastructure, at research and commercial level, aiming to support residential consumers through the provision of feedback. Within the scope of this work, several common problems will be discussed that have arisen in the respective R&D implementations, hindering further development in the field. The identification of these problems has led to the design of the eeRIS system, which strives to serve as a tool for electrical energy consumers aiming to achieve engagement through feedback. The system functionality and architecture are presented in this work, as well as its position in the respective market.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132529684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real-world applications entail the need for quick and accurate performance evaluation of a module before installation. The performance of a PV module is determined by the five parameters of the single-diode model in a given environment. Due to the nonlinear and implicit nature of the equation, extraction of the parameters from the characteristic curve is a time-consuming and challenging task. Although numerous methods provide highly accurate solutions to the problem, the time and computational resources required for their execution are often not available in industrial environments. The paper formulates the problem as a multi-target regression problem and solves it using three different approaches. As in the case of most supervised machine learning algorithms, once a multi-regression model is trained, it can extract parameters of a large number of PV modules simultaneously in fractions of a second. For machine learning algorithms, the generation of training data and validation of models is of utmost importance. This paper mentions the procedure followed to generate training data along with widely cited performance metrics used to validate the performance of the proposed methods. Further, the trained models are also used to infer the single-diode parameters from the experimental $I-V$ curve of a silicon cell. The results are highly accurate and at par with existing methods.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130102391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To cut carbon emissions to mitigate its dangerous effects, the current energy generation mix should be shifted to renewables sources. The main drawback of these technologies is their intermittency that will require storage systems to fully integrate them in the generation mix, allowing them to be more controllable. In recent years great progress to develop an effective and economically feasible energy storage systems, particularly motivated by the recent rise of demand for electric transportation has been made. Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery prices have fallen near 90% over the past decade, making possible the affordability of electric vehicles and transforming the economics of renewable energy. In this paper, we evaluate the energy storage requirements for a carbon-free scenario in Spain, analyzing the CO2 emissions reduction.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134541756","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its space segment is the process by which the satellite operates in orbit, and its ground segment composes of all relevant terrestrial equipment and software. Currently, compactness and efficiency are key criteria of a remote sensing ground station system. These are being effectively obtained by leading companies in the US and Europe, especially in satellite tracking antenna systems. Therefore, application of state-of-the-art technology and solutions are important steps to approach and accelerate the research and development of ground stations for low-earth orbiting satellite systems. Hexapod mechanism demonstrates advantages of compactness, reliability and accuracy, especially for trajectory planning and control systems. This paper describes the result of the antenna pedestal design process using hexapod structure for application of tracking Earth observation satellite operating in the Sun synchronous orbit with an altitude of about 680km above the ground.","PeriodicalId":215332,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2020 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131749699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EVs are also used as a power generation source apart from PV and ESS. For this, House-to-self load (H2H), House-to-Neighbour (H2N) and House-to-Grid (H2G) modes of transmission are proposed. Markov Chain model addresses uncertainties in EV availability. In this, a transition matrix is developed based on historical travel data of consumers.
