Paper aims to illustrate the implementation of a credit scoring model using boosting techniques. Specifically, the proposed solution is implemented using XGBoost algorithm discussing the role of hyperparameter tuning and feature selection in result optimization. Data used for obtaining performance scores is real-world data provided by a microfinance institution based in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Results suggest that significant optimization of XGBoost may be performed, yet, the model fails to outperform typically recommended approaches for solving credit scoring problem. Given that, it is suggested that although boosting techniques are increasingly being relied upon, it is unaccountable to make a decision without understanding the specificity of data and questioning whether other techniques are more suitable.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116436022","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Playground algorithm is designed to model social interaction amongst children, and the mechanisms and operators of the algorithm are inspired by the model of child interaction and engagement in games during a child's stay at the playground. In order to evaluate the performance of the algorithm, a series of tests were performed over a class of functions selected so that they possess properties such as: multimodality / unimodality, (non) separability, (non) differentiability, (non) convexity, existence of ridges and valleys and multidimensionality. During testing, the values of the algorithm parameters are varied, in order to determine their recommended values. The analysis was carried out with an overview of the effects of the algorithm parameters on the performance of the algorithm in the problem area, performance in the criterion domain, and the execution time.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134239382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Image processing and analysis allows non-invasive extraction of object features within an image and the classification of objects based on the extracted data. Shape, texture and color are typical features that can be extracted from an image and used for object recognition. In this paper, a method of detection, segmentation and classification of resistors captured in digital image, based on their nominal values, is presented. The process consists of the following steps: image segmentation, morphological image processing, representation and description of objects, object features extraction, classification of extracted data using support vector machines (SVM). Experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits solid performance and real-time operating capabilities.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122428773","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the protocol has many shortcomings because of its simplicity. The ARP packets are often broadcasted, resulting in limited performance and scalability of the network. With the advent of software-defined networking, several approaches how to deal with the issues were developed. We propose a new approach that extends the existing ARP handling techniques in these networks. Using automated statistics gathering about the most frequently resolved IP addresses, flow entries are placed at switches, which then serve the role of an ARP resolution cache of a limited size. The proposed solution can automatically alleviate both the data plane and the control plane of most of the ARP traffic without requiring changes either to the protocol stack or the underlying network infrastructure.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122687681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reactive power compensation can reduce energy losses in system, improve voltage profile and release feeder capacity. Installation of capacitors in distribution network is ensuring more efficient systems, but also provides economic benefit to utility and users. Vital task for capacitor implementation is to determine the best locations and size of capacitors. Hence, capacitor placement has an important role in distribution system planning. In this paper, using the professional software tool DigSILENT Power Factory, optimal capacitor placement is analysed in real low voltage distribution network. Results and analysis show that by optimal capacitor placement annual losses and adequate size for installed capacitors can be calculated. The capacitor placement problem consists of objective function which is composed of power losses and capacitor installation costs subject to bus voltage constraints. Optimization placement calculation is compared to installation of four capacitors in given case study distribution grid. Simulation results show that with appropriate software techniques optimal capacitor placement can be achieved in distribution grid.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126428698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Techniques are distributed into four hierarchies: urban plan, buildings, interior and furniture. Each technique is analyzed from the aspect of control of space definition, style uniformity, automatic interaction with other hierarchies and ability to procedurally generate a result around existing content. Each paper presented in this survey contributes either as a new control feature that has a potential of integrating with other techniques of higher, lower or same level of hierarchy, or as a new important part for creating a complete procedural city from highest to lowest level of hierarchy. The paper is concluded with a discussion of strong links between each area in the chain and important challenges in procedural generation of a complete city.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128406491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the quality of the extracted information largely depends on the frame rate and exposure time of the camera, thus it is difficult to capture fast movement using slower and less expensive cameras. To this end, we propose to use an active modulated light source for object tracking, interacting with exposure times and subsampling existing frames. A prototype of a multi-functional active visual marker is presented in this paper. The system is based on the ESP-WROOM-32 microcontroller, which is configured to use various communication protocols, namely WiFi 802.11, RF 2.4 GHz GFSK and RS485. The microcontroller controls the RGB LED, which is used as light source. In addition, the system can be synchronized with the external real-time clock. The experimental results have illustrated the advantages and disadvantages of the designed active markers and pointed out the directions for future work and development.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130092487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors proposed an algorithm of virtual routing function and virtual firewall function allocation in the NFV-based networkfor minimizing the total network cost, and developed effective allocation guidelines for virtual functions. In order to minimize network cost for content delivery services such as video streaming, this paper first proposes a virtual cache placement algorithm which judges the optimal placement of the cache not on a virtual machine like vCDN (Vitualisation of CDNs) but on a content basis. Moreover, the content is dynamically cached at the time of content delivery like ICN (Information-Centric Networking) without placing the cache preliminarily like vCDN. Even if the content cache is deployed economically, performance will degrade if the latency between the content cache and the terminal increases. In order to prevent such a case, this paper also propose an cost-effective deployment method of NFV-based WAN acceleration function.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116482082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was done through simulations of “healthy” cable system, free from any kind of defects and the one with presence of defect in the form of electrode bounded cavity inside the cable accessories. The comparison was made through numerical calculation of cable capacitance for “healthy” cable system and the one containing defect. Also it has been shown that the electric field intensity inside the defect exceeds the threshold value for triggering the partial discharge (PD) process in air. The simulations were carried out using finite element tool Comsol Multiphysics software and the results showed that defect presence reduces cable capacitance. This could be used as the indicator of defect presence and by proper maintaining strategy forestalls the early failures caused by the PD activity inside the air filled cavities.","PeriodicalId":214902,"journal":{"name":"2019 XXVII International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124614161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
