It is a condition that should be considered in any patient with an autoimmune disease presenting unexplained dyspnea. This syndrome is characterized by reduced lung volumes, elevation of the diaphragm, and restrictive physiology without significant parenchymal involvement. The article emphasizes the crucial role of thoracic CT in the diagnosis of the shrinking lung syndrome. Thoracic CT plays an essential role in identifying characteristic radiological signs such as pulmonary atelectasis and elevation of the diaphragmatic domes. These specific radiological features significantly contribute to confirming the diagnosis by excluding other potential causes of dyspnea, notably pulmonary embolism.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141127376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most often located in the proximal humerus, the distal femur, the proximal tibia, it more rarely affects the tarsal bones or the pelvis. We report 2 cases of young patients (aged 14 years and 15 years) with metaphysodiaphyseal chondroblastoma of the right humerus which was revealed by painful shoulder swelling and joint limitation. Our goal is to discuss the diagnostic difficulties and evolutionary aspects of this rare tumor as well as its treatment.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Palliative care is aimed at people suffering from serious, progressive, life-threatening illnesses whose progression to the advanced and terminal stages exceeds current therapeutic resources. This study is an activity report of the palliative care department at the University Hospital Center Mohammed VI, its aim is to prepare the inventory, raise the main constraints and suggestions for management. They are multiple, varied and located at several levels of the supported. They mainly relate to the human and material resources made available to the service and organizational order. These constraints constitute real opportunities for improvement which must call on all those responsible involved or concerned by cancerous pathology in order to to improve service performance.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 31","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It manifests in the first weeks of life and rarely in the neonatal period, with respiratory distress due to compression atelectasis and often associated with mediastinal displacement. CLE poses a challenge in terms of diagnosis and positive pressure ventilation due to air trapping. We report the case of a newborn presenting with persistent respiratory distress. A thoracic CT scan was performed, confirming the diagnosis of CLE. The definitive diagnosis is provided by histology of the operative specimen, revealing emphysematous lesions. Treatment involves lobectomy after stabilization of respiratory function. Surgical abstention is possible for asymptomatic or paucisymptomatic lesions.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 41","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A coloanal anastomosis is performed through a sleeve of rectal muscularis after a two-stage mucosectomy. In the first stage, the colonic tube is exteriorised through the anal canal, and a few days later a direct coloanal anastomosis is performed in the second stage. This is a salvage operation and its results are not well documented in the literature. This is a study of three (03) consecutive patients, hospitalised and operated on using the Babcock or Soave Baulieux technique at the Department of Visceral Surgery A of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez, Morocco. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the indications, operative results, postoperative morbidity and mortality, and long-term functional results. Our study concerns three (03) patients with colorectal cancer. In 66.7% of cases, the decision to perform the Soave Baulieux technique was taken preoperatively to avoid other complications related to the low colorectal anastomosis. After the operation, 66.7% of patients had a simple post-operative course and only one patient (33.3%) was re-operated after a complication (necrosis of the anastomosis from the distal segment to the anus). Only one patient had a permanent stoma. Quality of life and functional results were satisfactory in 66.7% of our patients.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 49","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can occur at central or peripheral sites, at skeletal or extraskeletal sites, and is more common at the femurs, ilium, and tibia. We report a rare case of Ewing's sarcoma of the scapula in a 2-year-old infant diagnosed with pain and swelling of the left shoulder. Histopathological confirmation of Ewing's sarcoma was possible following ultrasound-guided biopsy. Treatment consisted of initial chemotherapy, followed by surgical tumor resection after good initial response, followed by adjuvant therapy. The current post-treatment follow-up is 2 years without incident. This case is reported to highlight the rarity of localization and therapeutic modalities, particularly surgical.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present a case of a 52-year-old man with a lateral elbow dislocation following a fall, successfully managed with a nonoperative reduction technique and early physiotherapy to prevent joint stiffness. Initial examination revealed characteristic findings, confirmed by radiographs. Closed reduction under sedation was achieved using fluoroscopy guidance, with subsequent stability testing revealing ligamentous injuries. Immobilization and progressive physiotherapy led to satisfactory outcomes, with restored range of motion and resolution of symptoms. Literature review highlights the rarity of lateral elbow dislocations and the importance of prompt intervention and rehabilitation for optimal recovery, emphasizing the need for further understanding and management strategies in such cases.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 42","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128603","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In cases of cervical cancer, adeno-carcinoma is predominantly reported. Clear cell adenocarcinoma (CCAC) of the uterine cervix is a very rare tumor and accounts for only 4% of all adenocarcinomas of the uterine cervix. Risk factors and pathogenesis of this disease are not exactly revealed. The intra uterine exposure to diethylstilbestrol (DES) and associated non-steroidal estrogen during pregnancy before 18 weeks is the only known risk factor. This study reports the imaging finding of primary uterine cervical tumor in a 15-year-old girl, who was finally diagnosed with CCAC, with no maternal history of DES exposure in utero.","PeriodicalId":21448,"journal":{"name":"Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports","volume":" 55","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141128840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
