Many commercial platforms are offering sophisticated dashboards to build these chatbots with no or minimal coding. However, the job of composing the chatbot from real-world scenarios is not a trivial activity and requires a significant understanding of the problem as well as the domain. In this work, we present the concept of Intent Sets - an Architectural choice, that impacts the overall accuracy of the chatbot. We show that the same chatbot can be built choosing one out of many possible Intent Sets. In this paper, we present an object-based place recognition method using objects as a key intermediate representation of places. Objects are detected by a mobile robot equipped with a camera, and object map is constructed to contain object information of places. Then, locations are recognized by object information located at places. As the proposed method considers not only the type of the object but also the number of occurrences of objects, it is possible to distinguish places that could not be distinguished from the existing method. The different characteristics of the two imaging sources were synthesized and some operations such as de-jittering, image filtering, image registration, and image fusion were performed on the original image. The experimental results showed that after the night monitoring image was processed as above, the image information was more abundant and the visualization effect is significantly enhanced. In order to address the challenges in the person-following scenario, this study formulates the visual target-positioning procedure and proposes a Slow-fast Target-Positioning Framework (STPF) to provide robust target positions in real time. Within this framework, the fast branch enables the real-time capability, while the slow branch corrects the cumulative error and improves the robustness. A dataset is collected and setup to evaluate the impact of STPF on the performance of long-term person-following. Our goal is to apply machine learning algorithms for assigning a color name to a principal object in images. Here, we evaluate three basic classification algorithms, namely Support Vector Machine (SVM), naïve Bayes, and k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN). The feature vector of the object in an image is the pixel intensities represented in different color spaces including RGB, HSV, Lab and CYMK. We randomly collect the training pixel intensities with their corresponding color names from the images obtained from the Internet. We then evaluate three classification algorithms using the e-Bay dataset. Specifically, it aims to build an array of sensors aided with Raspberry Pi and Python programming language to implement the necessary algorithms, together with the documentation of gathered information to conclude the effectiveness of the system. ANN is used for pattern recognition and classification, while PCA is for feature reduction and extraction. Sensors are selected by PCA through dimension reduction of signals obtained, which resulted to sensors MQ8, MQ136, MQ7 having the highest retained information of 83.07%, 8.79% and 7.27%. The classifier was trained by feeding acetone with varying concentrations from 5% to 100% with their corresponding expected classifications that resulted to 0.02% of training error. Using a Confusion matrix, accuracy was determined which assesses the classification between the E-nose and expected classification of commercial products. However, not all the solutions of the set are equally important to decision makers. They typically utilize only a few outstanding solutions, and the solutions located at the maximum convex bulge on the Pareto frontier are usually embraced when no preference is available; they are called knee solutions. There are several knee searching algorithms in the last decades, but most of them failed to isolate the knee solutions from the near knee solutions. In this paper, we propose a posteriori knee searching algorithm that can identify and isolate the knee solutions, based on the farthest distance to a hyperplane among the neighborhood solutions. The proposed algorithm is tested against well-known benchmark problems: ZDT3, DEB2DK and DEB3DK. Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) can be employed in feature extraction, which only a single scale IMF is considered by using Phase Locking Value (PLV), leading to the loss of phase information. In this paper, a Multi-period Multivariate Multi-scale PLV (MMMPLV) is proposed based on Noise-Assisted Multivariate EMD (NAMEMD). The selected multi-channel MI-ECoG are decomposed simultaneously by NAMEMD to obtain the multivariate multi-scale IMFs, and their length are divided into many periods. Then the PLV of pair-wise IMFs at the same scale are calculated in each time period for any two-channel MI-ECoG signals. The resulted MMMPLV are constructed as phase features. Furthermore, the phase features generated by MMMPLV and the spatial features extracted by Common Spatial Subspace Decomposition (CSSD) algorithm are fused in series, yielding a new feature extraction method, denoted as MMMPC. Experiments were conducted on a public database, and the Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used to classify the combined features. With the establishing premise of artificial intelligence (AI) on the horizon, technology becomes increasingly transparent to its users (termed as ambient technology) in an attempt to mimic human nature when handling complex processes and delivering efficient results. In spite of this, majority of research on voice user interfaces (VUIs) have been partial to the benefit of people with disabilities. This study overwhelms this limitation as the implementation of a VUI in a smart classroom is achieved for the purposes of ambient technology. The main objective of this study is to develop a far-field speech-controlled smart classroom with natural language processing (NLP) built under KNX standard for appliance control. Using NLP techniques such as shallow parsing and Naïve Bayes classification, the researchers were able to write their own API in Python for a VUI codenamed Luna.
