Usually, there is a particle ta or its variation between the predicate-subject sequences (V-ta-S). Besides the V-S pattern, the S-V pattern is also found. In this paper, it is shown that the clause pattern in Old Javanese is triggered by the importance of forming a narrative discourse. Particle ta and several other syntactic elements have a role in shaping narrative discourse. Other syntactic elements are the definition of nouns, arguments in the form of nouns (NP) or pronouns, and affective-passive verbs.The source of the data I use for this study is the Old Javanese parwa text, namely Adiparwa edited by Juynboll (1906). According to Molen (2010, 396), parwa is a literary product in itself. Parwa must be viewed as a literary work, just like kakawin. There is a clear story structure aided by lexical, grammatical, and literary structuring tools. In this study, the grammatical elements used for the purpose of building the story are shown.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128755396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This Islamic law runs in harmony without having to negate the existing culture. The arrival of the Dutch colonials to the archipelago resulted in changes in the political and social system. The laws and regulations were domesticated by the Dutch colonials and only applied to indigenous peoples. These rules do not necessarily make people leave the law based on Islamic teachings. In this manuscript of Serat Ambiyo Pelemgadung there is an agreement regarding the chapter on leasing based on Islamic law. This chapter is one of the important evidences that Islamic law is still used in society, in addition to the rules made by the Dutch. For more detail in analyzing the chapter, the researcher uses the Testimony analysis from Shoshana Felman. Felman’s study is indeed suitable in this study, especially Islamic law at that time was experiencing repression from the colonial government. The notes in this manuscript are important to be studied as evidence of testimony that Islamic law is still used in Javanese society.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115234038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Now these manuscripts can be used as primary sources for writing the intellectual and social history of Islam in the archipelago. Among the several topics from these manuscripts are those relating to criticism of the tarekat teachings in the archipelago, especially in the bidding of the tarekat without paying attention to the conditions for following the tarekat. One of them is basic understanding such as the science of monotheism and Islamic law. This article aims to explain the dynamics of tarekat sufism in the archipelago from the 17th to the early 19th centuries, and what are the reasons for the criticisms carried out by interpreters of Islam in parts of the archipelago. The primary object of this article is the manuscript Nubdhah fi Radd Ahl al-Tarikat fi Singapura, which is a religious work devoted to straightening sufi teachers and tarekah adherents who recruit their congregations without considering the conditions that have been quoted by sufi scholars. In analyzing the manuscript, this article uses the Paratex Gerade Genete theory by looking for the elements that accompany the text, both those contained in the manuscript or outside the manuscript.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132260561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the public does not know its information since the primary resource is indecipherable, followed by the rapid growth of science and technology. Whereas in Javanese literature, there is knowledge about tracing and handling a pagĕblug. Therefore, This study has three main objectives: (a) Examine the handling of pagĕblug in Java based on primary sources taken from Javanese textual and non-textual archives; (b) Reveal the common thread of continuity in handling pagĕblug cosmologically and physically; (c)Propose a draft of strategy for dealing with pagĕblug in the present.The research conducted in descriptive-qualitative-interpretative, utilizing philological and oral approaches. The data was compiled using blended methods consisting of literature study, source observation, manuscript reading, and interview with experts. The results indicate that Javanese literature contains knowledge of cosmological and physical handling of pagĕblug. Cosmologically, the common thread of continuity in handling pagĕblug in Javanese literature is derived from a concept of respecting human relationships with others, nature, and God. Likewise, physically, it is advised to have a clean and healthy living, even encouragement to self- quarantine for the infected people. The common thread for the continuity of pagĕblug handling potentially can be implemented by the government in formulating disease regulations amid the current Covid-19 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129894994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It argues that this verse forms an introductory hymn (maṅgala or stuti) praising Śiva and, at the same time, revealing the identity of the compiler of the text—whether genuine or fictively attributed ex post—through a “signature” expressed by means of a Sanskrit word hinting at the name Tanakuṅ, an author of Old Javanese literary and religious works who lived in the 15th century. It then elaborates on the socio-historical and religious background of that period, and links the figure of Tanakuṅ and the texts ascribed to him to Ḍaṅ Hyaṅ Nirartha, an important Balinese religious figure who is believed to have been active on the island between the late 15th and early 16th century.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115494201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manuscript is registered as a collection of the Central Library of the University of Indonesia with the collection code number NR 378-KR.11. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach in the context of the study of Javanese manuscripts whose texts discuss traditional craftsmanship and architecture. The purpose of this study was to reveal that the SSKS manuscript is a record of the craftsmanship in Java in the early 20th century through systematic work of philology. The text content analysis was conducted using descriptive and interpretive methods in order to reveal the craftmanship content in the SSKS texts. The interpretations of the text data were then linked to expert opinions or research findings from other disciplines such as the field of building construction, soil science, and occupational safety and health (K3). The content analysis of SSKS texts was carried out, so that the content of the SSKS manuscript could be actualized in accordance with the conditions in the current development era. The findings of this study are (1) the SSKS manuscript is an important document in the field of craftsmanship, and it was written as a guide for craftsmen to make or build something, (2) the craftsmanship skill mastered by masons based on SSKS text include (a) relating to 25 types of tools with their respective functions commonly used by masons, (b) inspection and clearing of land from trees and shrubs for foundation construction, (c) knowledge of the five criteria for soil types in the vicinity where a building’s foundation will be built, (d) knowledge of basic principles regarding rock types relating to making good quality, and (e) warnings regarding the capacity of space capacity and air when digging wells.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125369266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Changes began to occur when Sultan Agung began to expand his territory to the Tatar Sunda area in the 17th century. The expansion of the territory caused many districts in Tatar Sunda to establish patron-client relationships with Mataram. The Sajarah Cikundul Manuscript provides information that Cianjur is one of the areas in Priangan which served Mataram. This research was conducted to answer the problem of the existence of a patron-client relationship between Cianjur and Mataram based on the Sajarah Cikundul script. The purpose of this study is to find out the truth of the description of the patron-client relationship of Cianjur and Mataram based on the Sajarah Cikundul. The method used in order to answer this problem consists of data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Based on the studies that have been carried out, there are many anachronisms in Sajarah Cikundul in describing the story of building relations between Cianjur and Mataram. The description was ultimately interpreted as a pseudo-claim of Cianjur and related to the legitimate interests of the Cianjur rulers.","PeriodicalId":213617,"journal":{"name":"Jumantara: Jurnal Manuskrip Nusantara","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127472839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phenomena of natural disasters can be found in the Pangujanan text. The purpose of this study is to describe the types of natural disasters represented in the Pangujanan text and to reveal the signs or symbols of the disasters. Qualitative descriptive research method is used to reveal the types and signs of a natural disaster phenomenon. In interpreting the sign, semiotic theory is needed to present it systematically. The results of this study indicate that (1) the natural disasters depicted in the Pangujanan text are earthquakes, heavy rains, thunderbolt, hurricanes, and flash floods which are narrated based on Balinese local wisdom, (2) natural disasters in the Pangujanan text as signs have given a rise to some interpretations, namely (a) some natural disasters as results of the practice of reducing rain as narrated in the Pangujanan text, and in this case, disaster mitigation is needed, and (b) some natural disasters as forces of the practice of making rain narrated in the Pangujanan text. The conclusion that can be drawn from the results of this study is that in the past, knowledge about natural disaster phenomena was narrated in a text, and in this study, we look at natural disaster phenomena narrated through the Pangujanan text.
