The aim of the paper is to open up a space for discussing the language problems in the Roma, a space for extracting the current Romani language problems with an emphasis on the school environment and the implementation of the Romani language in the educational practice. The research question is what the Roma consider to be a language problem in the school environment and what solutions they propose. To obtain the empirical material, we used a qualitative methodology tool, a semi-structured interview conducted in the Romani language. The paper presents and characterises language problems in the school environment from the perspective of the Roma and proposes measures to solve the problems.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124953584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is considered the public overview that consistently highlights and comments - in an exaggerated humorous way- on the most salient facts of political life. It is not only a simple satirical tool which causes laughter and hilarity, but also a vital tool for allegorically criticizing society, customs, religions, and politics through paradoxical and satirical methods. The caricature has a great worldwide influence so that a simple comic can cause violent or terrorist acts as happened on the 7th of January 2015 when the headquarters of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo was attacked by some terrorists. This magazine is devoted to publishing desecrating articles and comics regarding religions and politics. The caricatures that were the reason behind the attack concerned the figure of the Prophet Muhammad. The article deals with the syntactic analysis of caricature. Along with this article, I focus on the constructive brevity of the caricature language achieved through the absence of articles, the massive recourse to nominal style, a single-positioning, and a few degrees hypothesis.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128357625","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis reveals that in the ongoing globalized world where cultural values and knowledge in many African countries are gradually losing grounds due to the influence of Western cultural practices, literary texts can be one of the means to preserve these cultural values and knowledge so as to transmit them to future generations. Besides, it is found that various linguistic strategies are utilized by these writers in order to insert these cultural values and knowledge in their literary works: loanwords, loanblends, loantranslations, idiomatic formation, Cameroon Pidgin-English discourses, French discourses and proverbs. It is recommended that in the selection of literary texts to be used in the secondary and high schools of African countries that priority should be given the literary texts which embody the cultural values and knowledge of their countries. This will enable African students in general and Cameroonian students in particular to be more versed with some cultural values and knowledge of their sociocultural environments.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132479547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though, most of Spanish students don’t succeed in expressing the abilities linked to that competence. Because of that linguistic lack, we choose to diagnose the problem calling into question the curriculum currently in force and the teaching practice on-the-spot. It turns out of our research that the difficulties appear in shape of incapacity to keep up a conversation in Spanish. Those who do it cannot hold the conversation for a long time, because of lack of vocabulary, bad pronunciation and embarrassment. Speaking skill difficulties don’t come from the current curriculum, but from the teaching practice and academic and professional profile. The lack of language laboratories and the non-existence of an efficient and sustainable politics of linguistics immersion also contribute to these speaking difficulties. To all these problems, we try to find ways to settle them.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134391385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study makes it possible to reintegrate the notion of enunciative sign or marks in eton proverbs. The proverb is a type of statement that suggests the marks of the speaker, the one to whom the proverb is addressed (recipient), the time and place of the utterance. Therefore, this work consists in examining the marks of persons, the modalisation marks, the time and the space which cover the eton proverbs.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"64 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133927817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its objectives were as follows: 1. To elucidate the opinions of foreign language learners regarding role-playing activities; 2. To explore learners‟ experiences of engaging in technology-assisted role-playing activities; and 3. To investigate the influence of technology-assisted and traditional role-playing activities on learners‟ learning methods. The participants of this qualitative study consisted of non-language major university students in Taiwan. Data was collected through focus group interviews, individual interviews, and non-participant observations and subsequently subjected to a content analysis. The results revealed that (1) The high and low achievers exhibited different responses to the role-playing activities; (2) Low achievers tended to choose technology-assisted methods to present their theatrical performances; (3) The attractiveness of new technologies prompted the learning motivations of some learners; (4)Some learners chose to do on-stage theatrical performances in order to enhance their own capabilities and obtain a sense of achievement; and (5) Some learners perceived that technology-assisted theatrical performances could help them overcome the psychological hurdle of stage fright. The results are discussed and instructional strategies for learners and instructors alike are proposed, as are recommendations for future research.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125331001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Bible in Leviticus 19:11 we are taught: “Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.” Moreover, in John 8:32 we read, “. . . the truth shall set you free.” The Quran teaches “And do not cloak the truth with falsehood (2:42).” Many movies deal with the topic of deception and characters lie for many different reasons. Two successful German movies I will investigate, in which the protagonists weave a web of lies, are Wo ist Fred (2003) and Good-bye Lenin (2006). Though the premise of both films is built on lies, the characters lie for different reasons. In Wo ist Fred, Fred lies to get an autographed basketball with which he intends to bribe his future step son, whereas in Good-bye Lenin, the protagonist lies to protect his mother from another heart attack. All characters involved believe that they are justified in telling bold lies to people they love. However, in both movies, the truth is revealed in the end and as one would expect there is a price to pay. However, is life fair and will destiny punish the liar? I will investigate the effects of lying on the other character in both films and if lying is ever justified.","PeriodicalId":213519,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES, CULTURES & CIVILIZATIONS","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134577662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
