Cavalcanti","doi":"10.21577/1984-6835.20230044","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21577/1984-6835.20230044","url":null,"abstract":"The brown macroalgae Dictyota menstrualis constitutes an organism with a rich and diverse metabolism in terms of the chemistry of natural products. It is known to mainly produce diterpenes, in addition to sterols, vitamins and polysaccharides with antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant and antioxidant properties. Despite its vast metabolic arsenal, most studies are directed to the identification of already known diterpenes, opening the field of investigation for new approaches and discoveries. Knowing this, this work aims to chemically characterize the macroalgae D. menstrualis through the technique of Ultra Efficiency Liquid Chromatography associated with High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (UPLC-HRMS) and perform a biological screening of potential antioxidants and antifungals through bioautography. For this, specimens of D. menstrualis were collected in the São Pedro São Paulo Archipelago (PE, Brazil) and attended to ingestion with dichloromethane and fractionation by column chromatography with silica gel. The extract and fractions were then analyzed by UPLC-HRMS with ElectroSpray Ionization (ESI) in positive mode. In addition, bioautography assays were performed to evaluate the antioxidant potential with DPPH and the antifungal potential against the Cladosporium sphaerospermum . The UPLC-HRMS analyzes allowed identifying diterpenes, sterols, faty acids, glycerolipids, derivatives of photosynthetic pigments and carotenoids. Bioautography assays suggested antifungal and antioxidant potential of the organic extract and fractions. One way to protect metals from corrosion is by applying corrosion inhibitors that act through adsorption on the metal surface, blocking/reducing corrosive processes. Conventional corrosion inhibitors are toxic to the environment and human life, so natural products are tested in order to replace toxic inhibitors. In this work, the aqueous extract of Goji Berry (GB) was tested as a corrosion inhibitor of carbon steel ABNT1020 in H 2 SO 4 0,5 mol L -1 medium. The gravimetric tests showed that the efficiency of the extract diluted at 75% V/V is 98%. We evaluated the antibacterial potential R. officinalis extracts and fractions against different Mycoplasma species. The most active fractions were the hexane and dichloromethane ones, with MIC of 15.62 µg mL -1 against M. capricolum and the hexane fraction with MIC of 15.62 µg mL -1 against M. pneumoniae . Subfractions were obtained by silica column chromatography, with MIC of 31.25 µg mL -1 against M. capricolum and 62.5 µg mL -1 against M. pneumoniae .
