The aim of the study is to find out which lexical units arise during language courses and how often. To what extent can the acquired vocabulary be used to develop dedicated programmes for foreign language acquisition in medical emergency communication? The analysis shows that the vocabulary collected here depends on the subject, such as ból (pain) or leki (medicines). According to the participants, symptomy (symptoms) and duszności (shortness of breath) are also part of the common vocabulary. Emergency medical communication can be carried out with the question pronouns kiedy (when) and gdzie (where). Among the most frequently repeated lexical units of vital parameters during patient transfer are saturacja (oxygen saturation) and puls (pulse). The vocabulary collected here should help in preparing a description of the competences which should form part of a language course for professional purposes.","PeriodicalId":212023,"journal":{"name":"Glottodidactica. The research, carried out in the second half of 2019, has enabled corroborating the initial hypothesis about the existence of preconceptions and stereotypes associated with the perception of foreign languages and cultures (Elman & McClelland 1986) by Italian people. In particular, a questionnaire was used to clarify which adjectives are commonly associated with selected foreign languages, in order to identify certain trends and stereotypes. The survey is based on ethnolinguistic and language education studies (Cardona 2006), and was performed through data collection techniques used in ethnography and sociolinguistics (Tagliamonte 2006).","PeriodicalId":212023,"journal":{"name":"Glottodidactica. This article attempts to show, using empirical evidence from corpora, why the rule is inaccurate, and different ways that this might be established. As the rule under consideration is typically framed as a tendency (like many other pedagogical grammar rules), an additional aim of the work is to outline the kinds of corpus analyses researchers and materials designers can potentially use in order to investigate the question of (claimed) linguistic tendencies. The article concludes by discussing why a rule that is apparently inaccurate nevertheless appears again and again in print, arguing that the existence of a well-established and widely-accepted ‘canon’ of ELT grammar means that such inaccuracies in descriptions of grammar can be easily perpetuated","PeriodicalId":212023,"journal":{"name":"Glottodidactica. In order to achieve this goal, in the first part of the paper the main concepts of pupiloriented education in a border region will be described (i.e. cross-border cooperation, learner-orientation, region-orientation, participation, sustainability, and competence for successful living and communicating in a border region), as they give insights into the essential fields of knowledge and skills that should be aimed at in terms of teacher-oriented activities during the process of professionalisation. I analyse how applied linguistics is understood in Russia, Poland and Germany, and present syntax as a part of applied intercultural linguistics. The analysed data are reflective texts by Russian and German participants of the intercultural project “Rilke and Russia” that took place in 2019, in Samara. I consider these texts for reflective discourse appearing as a result of speech acts realised as self-talk. In my analyses, I use methods that are specific for speech acts research on the one hand, and that are typical of syntax on the other. So, I identify the role subjects, their intentionality and the persons addressed. Then, I compare the syntactic means used by Russian and German role subjects and show that these means are influenced by national culture and mentality.","PeriodicalId":212023,"journal":{"name":"Glottodidactica.
