In addition, a method of block processing to divide an image into several blocks and process each block independently is proposed to ensure that the corners detected are evenly distributed in the image without clustering and thus eliminate the possibility that some corners may be lost because of the sharp contrast in gray scale in different parts of the image. Experimental results showed that this improved algorithm outperformed traditional and previous methods both in accuracy and evenness of distribution of detected corners.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"2011 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133719490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the help of using [A] matrix, the T-network equivalent circuit model for an arbitrary-length transmission line has been obtained. In order to validate such a method, a dual-frequency power divider, which works at 1 GHz and 1.8 GHz respectively, is designed, fabricated and measured. The results demonstrate that the size of the dual- frequency power divider can be miniaturized to 51.75% of the conventional dual-frequency power divider. Firstly, Gilbert cell-based double-balanced structure is adopted in this design, which can effectively suppress the feed-through of the local oscillator (LO) signal to the RF port, and as well as that of the intermediate frequency (IF) signal to the RF port. Then, an improved Gilbert cell structure-based circuit is proposed by introducing source degeneration technique to improve the linearity of the up-mixer. LC resonant network is used as load of the mixer to select the first-order mixing items. Finally, the mixer is fabricated in TSMC 0.18μm 1P6M RF CMOS process. Measured results show that the mixer performs well and has better linearity, the input 1dB compression point is −1dBm, and the conversion gain is −0.5dB with the total current (including the mixer core and the buffer) of 16mA. By truncating two corners from the rectangular patch, the bandwidth enhancement of the proposed open slot antenna is well realized. From the simulation and measurement results, it is shown that the corner-truncated patch scheme is an excellent approach, which can be used to make the proposed antenna match well over an enhanced impedance bandwidth of 10.45GHz (2.35~12.80GHz), or about 138% for a −10dB return loss. In addition, a parametric study has been investigated to understand the effects of the truncated corners and to optimize the performance of the proposed antenna.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116951636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the new antenna designs a reconfigurable multiband operating antenna using in mobile phone is studied which can select two groups of operation frequency bands adaptively by electronically. In particular, each group of frequency bands can serve several different communication systems which may include various combinations of GSM850, GSM900, DCS, PCS, and UMTS simultaneously. Therefore, a various of communication systems can be conveniently served through only one antenna by electronically selecting different antenna modes. One strong point is that through the different working modes, the total antenna physical volume can be reused which make the overall antenna pattern more compact. In the first design mode it can support GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900, and UMTS. In the second antenna mode, it can cover GSM850, DCS1800, PCS1900, and UMTS. The designs are investigated when ideal switches is applied. The designs are verified through both numerical simulations and measurement of an experimental prototype. The result confirms good performance of the multiband reconfigurable antenna designs.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"300 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123242091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most of them tend to divide LA and HARQ into two independent parts, and optimization has been made in each part respectively. It is obvious that LA promotes efficiency by decreasing robustness of wireless transmissions, while HARQ is just the opposite. So LA and HARQ should be optimized with one unified criterion to make full use of capability of wireless communications. To this question, a unified QoS criterion for LA and HARQ is proposed. Then combined optimization on LA and HARQ is deduced based on this proposed criterion. By placing both the two techniques under one evaluating framework of QoS, LA and HARQ are not optimized independently but synthetically from the view of QoS, and performance gain is achieved. Both theoretical demonstration and simulation results have validated that the proposed optimization will enhance QoS for wireless transmissions.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122321278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The motivation to conduct research on fault-tolerant design is backed by the observation that the noise which was ineffective in the large-dimension circuits is expected to cause a significant downgraded performance in low-scaled transistor operation of future CMOS technology models. This paper is destined to give an overview of all the major fault-tolerance techniques and noise models proposed so far. Summing and analysing all this work, we have divided the literature into three categories and discussed their applicability in terms of proposing circuit design modifications, finding output error probability or methods proposed to achieve highly accurate simulation results.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122493721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
