The experimental results show that, at both room temperature and 77 K, the ytterbium-doped fiber (YDF) exhibits obviously inhomogeneous gain broadening, which results that the lasing lines of the laser increases with the increase of the pump power. However, due to the homogeneous gain broadening of the YDF, the gain inhomogeneity of the YDF at room temperature may not be strong enough to compensate the intrinsic unevenness of the YDF gain spectrum, leading to a phenomenon of potential lasing wavelengths missing. Moreover, when the wavelength spacing decreases to 0.8nm, the wavelength competition caused by the homogeneous gain broadening of the YDF results in the decrease of the stability of multiwavelength oscillations. At 77 K, however, the inhomogeneous gain broadening of the YDF becomes stronger. For a spacing of 0.8nm, 32 stable lasing lines without any potential lasing wavelengths missing between neighboring lasing wavelengths have been obtained.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127034502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is studied how the existence of field plate affects slow current transients (lag phenomena) and power slump (current slump) due to surface states and substrate traps. It is shown that both surface-state-related and substrate-trap-related transients and power slump are reduced by introducing a field plate. It is suggested that there are optimum values for field-plate length and insulator thickness to reduce the power slump and also to maintain high frequency performance of GaAs MESFETs.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123416828","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Esterel is a system-level language for the modeling, verification and synthesis of reactive systems through high-level support for efficient interaction with environment, synchronous communication and concurrency. Existing compilers for Esterel compile it to intermediate C code, which preserves Esterel semantics, before generating machine code that runs on a specified processor. Hence, the resultant code is often huge and inefficient, even for very small programs, as the underlying processors have no direct support for reactivity needed to execute Esterel. This paper proposes, for the first time, a reactive microcontroller called RePIC (which is an extension of the commercial PIC microprocessor). RePIC supports direct Esterel execution through a reactive instruction set architecture (ISA), while preserving Esterel semantics.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122479998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This ultra-wideband power divider utilizes substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) such that the overall size is largely reduced by half. SIW belongs to a sort of closed power splitter structure can effectively evade cavity resonance problem caused by W-band power divider. The power divider uses traditional T-junction Wilkinson structure. A novel method by setting the appropriate cut-off frequency, either complete the W-band power distribution, but also isolate the low harmonics (60GHz in this design) at the same time. Then using the equivalent circuit models, the effect of the DGS on even-and odd-mode impedances of coupled lines is analysed and the band broadening method for balun is summarized. Based on this theory, an improved DGS is presented to broaden the bandwidth of the planar balun. Finally, a sample of planar balun with the proposed DGS is designed, fabricated and measured. The measured return loss is better than -10dB from 1.3GHz to 4.5GHz, or 145% bandwidth, and shows good agreements with the simulated result. The results show that the balun with the DGS proposed here has a wider bandwidth and is smaller in size.","PeriodicalId":211786,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Symposium on Signals, Systems and Electronics","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132412131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
