The DGA arms are anchored on various scaffolds, viz., C- and N-pivot tripodal backbones, benzene-centred tripodal backbones, calix[4]arene, pillar[5]arene and azamacrocycle scaffolds. Dendrimers of different generations having DGA arms were also evaluated for the extraction and complexation studies of trivalent actinide and lanthanide ions. The extraction efficiency of the DGA units increases significantly when they are grouped together on a single backbone/scaffold. Furthermore, the selectivity was found to improve in many cases, particularly with respect to the UO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> <jats:sup>2+</jats:sup> ion. This is very important for the development of suitable ligands for the extraction/separation of the actinide and lanthanide ions. The methodology was standardized based on the Pulse Length Index for gross <jats:italic>α</jats:italic> and gross <jats:italic>β</jats:italic> activity determinations in aqueous solutions by means of a portable Liquid Scintillation Counter (LSC). This single compact PMT system yielded precise results for aqueous test samples, which were validated against a conventional HIDEX 300SL LSC system. The sensitivity of the portable LSC for gross measurements was investigated thoroughly for various combinations of scintillation cocktails and sample proportions, and found to be well below the Operational Intervention Levels (OILs) recommended by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) during radiation emergency scenarios. The observed trend in density <jats:italic>ρ</jats:italic> ranged from 3.127 to 4.022 g/cm³, whereas the molar volume <jats:italic>V</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>m</jats:italic> </jats:sub> of these glasses decreased. The half-value layers (HVL), and mean free paths (MFP) of CL glasses reinforce the notion that the presence of Ce ions, particularly in CL<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>, enhances the ability of glasses’ to attenuate gamma rays. The CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> powder was subjected to stearic acid treatment and later exposed to <jats:italic>γ</jats:italic>-radiation at various doses namely (10, 20 and 30 kGy), Different weight percentages of untreated and treated CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> powder were added to epoxy resin (EP) to create EP/CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> composites loaded with varying amounts of CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> filler (5 %, 10 %, 20 %, 30 %, and 40 %). The influence of both stearic acid treatment and different doses of gamma radiation on CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> was investigated. The composites were subjected to characterization of various properties including mechanical (splitting tensile strength, impact strength), thermal (TGA and dimensional thermal analysis) as well as morphological SEM examination. The analysis’ findings demonstrated that the stearic acid monolayer functions as a coupling agent in the EP matrix and can coat CaCO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> particles efficiently. This work introduces the performance of adsorption ReO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> <jats:sup>−</jats:sup> using a series of novel anion exchange resins, namely MAPE-1, MAPE-2, MAPE-3, and MAGD-1, impregnated with functionalized ionic liquids as active sites. They exhibit a high selectivity towards TcO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>/ReO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>, in a wide pH range of pH 5–11 for ReO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>/TcO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup> adsorption. Among these resins, MAPE-1 has the best adsorption performance for ReO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> <jats:sup>−</jats:sup>, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 202.4 mg/g and a high distribution ratio <jats:italic>K</jats:italic> <jats:sub> <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> </jats:sub> of 6.2 × 10⁶ mL/g at pH 7. The adsorption mechanism involves anion exchange between functionalized ionic liquids and TcO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>/ReO₄<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>, which is supported by X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analyses. Methanolic extracts were obtained through a 24 h maceration process from <jats:italic>L. sativum</jats:italic> seeds exposed to various doses of gamma irradiation. Phytochemical screening involved precipitation and staining reactions, with the antioxidant potential assessed using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. Antimicrobial activity was evaluated through a diffusion test on agar medium, while the cytotoxic potential on the lung cancer line “A-549 cells” was examined using the 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Qualitative analysis of the extracts identified preserved bioactive constituents after irradiation. Additionally, quantitative analysis indicated a significant rise in the total content of polyphenols and flavonoids under radiation, accompanied by an enhanced reducing power compared to the control. The antimicrobial and cytotoxic capabilities also improved, evident in increased growth inhibition zones for certain microbial strains and reduced viability rates of A549 cells. Since <jats:sup>10</jats:sup>B has a higher neutron absorption cross-section, enriched <jats:sup>10</jats:sup>B is used in the nuclear industry and the extent of enrichment varies from 50–90 %. Therefore, it is essential to determine the <jats:sup>10</jats:sup>B/<jats:sup>11</jats:sup>B ratio in boric acid and B<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>C. The prime purpose of the present study is to utilize LA-ICPMS for evaluating <jats:sup>10</jats:sup>B/<jats:sup>11</jats:sup>B ratio both in solution (boric acid) and solid (B<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>C pellet) without any pre-treatment so that the difficulty in dissolution or powdering process of B<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>C (one of the hardest materials) can be avoided and the B<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>C pellet can be reused. The results obtained from LA-ICPMS for the B<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>C pellet are discussed and compared with the solution ICPMS, TIMS, and LIMS. Expanding sources of uranium acquisition is necessary, and the enrichment and recovery of precious uranium from uranium-containing wastewater is invaluable. By synthesizing alginate supported potassium manganese ferrocyanide nanocomposites with magnetic response (KMnFC/MA/Fe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>), the high efficiency adsorption and separation of uranium in acidic uranium-containing wastewater can be realized conveniently and quickly. The magnetic composite was characterized by a variety of technical means, and the adsorption behavior of the magnetic material on uranium was studied by static adsorption experiments under different environmental conditions. The adsorption kinetics and isotherm of uranium by KMnFC/MA/Fe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> were studied by using some common linear adsorption models. The results show that the adsorption rate of KMnFC/MA/Fe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> on uranium is fast, and the adsorption equilibrium can be reached within 90 min. The adsorption process conforms to a pseudo-secondary kinetic model and is dominated by chemisorption. The adsorption of uranium by KMnFC/MA/Fe<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> magnetic material is single molecular layer adsorption, and the maximum adsorption capacity is 425.5 mg g<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> at 35 °C. This study aimed to develop <jats:sup>99m</jats:sup>Tc-labeled xanthomicrol and to evaluate its efficiency as a new tumor imaging agent. <jats:sc>l</jats:sc>,<jats:sc>l</jats:sc>-Ethylene dicysteine (EC) chelator was conjugated to xanthomicrol. EC-Xanthomicrol was labeled with technetium-99m by using tin chloride as a reducing agent and incubating at room temperature. Radiochemical purity and <jats:italic>in vitro</jats:italic> stability were analyzed by thin layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography. <jats:italic>In vitro</jats:italic> cellular uptake and binding profile of radio-conjugate was determined on C6 glioma cells. <jats:italic>In vivo</jats:italic> bioevaluation and imaging studies of [<jats:sup>99m</jats:sup>Tc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol were performed in C6 glioma tumor induced rat at different time points after injection of radio-conjugate. The high radiochemical yield (&gt;95 %) was achieved for [<jats:sup>99m</jats:sup>Tc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol which was stable up to 6 h. The radio-conjugate indicated high cell uptake (35.12 % at 2 h) which demonstrated to be specific. Tumor uptake was seen for [<jats:sup>99m</jats:sup>Tc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol (1.23 ± 0.14 %ID/g) at 1 h post injection. Scintigraphy confirmed that tumors could be visualized clearly with [<jats:sup>99m</jats:sup>Tc]Tc-EC-Xanthomicrol. FTIR study revealed the presence of both BO<jats:sub>3</jats:sub> as well as tetrahedral BO<jats:sub>4</jats:sub> units through their characteristic frequencies. Photoluminescence (PL) study of unirradiated samples confirmed the presence of Dy dopant in the ‘+3’ oxidation states from the characteristic emissions at 482, 578, 666 and 716 nm corresponding to <jats:sup>4</jats:sup>F<jats:sub>9/2</jats:sub> → <jats:sup>6</jats:sup>H<jats:sub>15/2</jats:sub>, <jats:sup>4</jats:sup>F<jats:sub>9/2</jats:sub> → <jats:sup>6</jats:sup>H<jats:sub>13/2</jats:sub> and <jats:sup>4</jats:sup>F<jats:sub>9/2</jats:sub> → <jats:sup>6</jats:sup>H<jats:sub>11/2</jats:sub>, <jats:sup>4</jats:sup>F<jats:sub>9/2</jats:sub> → <jats:sup>6</jats:sup>H<jats:sub>9/2</jats:sub> transitions, respectively. Thermal neutron and gamma irradiated PL emission and lifetime characteristics were discussed in details based on the different defect centers. Thermal neutron irradiated TL study showed that the material has a broad and single dosimetry glow peak at about 450 K which showed high fading due to low temperature peak. TL based neutron sensitivity of LMB: Dy<jats:sup>3+</jats:sup> was found to be about 37.4 times less than that of standard TLD-100 (LiF: Mg, Ti) powder. The net TL response from about 3 to 83 mSv of neutron dose was found to be linear (Adj. R<jats:sup>2</jats:sup> = 0.9994) which is one of the most desirable properties for dosimetry applications.
