It was associated with many gastrointestinal and extra-gastrointestinal diseases. There was evidence of strong association between H.pylori infection and Diabetes Mellitus, especially Type 2 DM. Objectives: The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between severity of Helicobacter Pylori induced gastritis and glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetis. Patients and methods: Fifty type 2 diabetic male patients (mean age 47.50 ± 6.01years) were admitted to gastroenterology unit of the Alexandria Main University Hospital for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. Thirty of them are H.pylori positive (cases) and twenty were H.pylori negative (controls). Following data were collected from all patients: BMI, waist circumference, CBC, liver enzymes, urea, creatinine, Hemoglobin A1c level, fasting blood glucose. Also biopsy specimens were obtained to Diagnose H.pylori by rapid urease test and to assess severity of gastritis histopathologically by Updated Sydney Score. Result: comparison between the two studied groups according to age, BMI, ESR, liver enzymes and creatinine showed no significant difference while hemoglobin, platete count, blood urea showed significant difference between the two groups. Although fasting blood glucose showed no statistically significant difference, Hemoglobin A1c showed significant difference between the two groups (p<0.001). There was a statistically significant relationship between hemoglobin A1C and the severity of H.pylori inflammation in cases group (p<0.001). Levels of Hb A1C were positively correlated with neutrophil infiltration, chronic inflammation, glandular atrophy and intestinal metaplasia in histopathology samples from cases group. Conclusions: Helicobacter Pylori infection and severity of H.pylori induced gastritis correlate with higher levels of Hb A1C in type 2 diabetic patients.","PeriodicalId":211573,"journal":{"name":"Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Digestive Disorders","volume":"743 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116092056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The contamination is mainly in childhood, oro-oral or fecal-oral. The objective is to determine the epidemiological, clinical and endoscopic profile of Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in symptomatic patients in Brazzaville in order to improve the management of Hp-infected persons in Congo. Patients and Method: This was a cross-sectional and analytical study, conducted from January to May 2018, in two digestive endoscopy centers in Brazzaville. Included were symptomatic patients referred for upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (HRE). The frequency of Helicobacter pylori infection was determined from two tests, the rapid urease test and the Hp antigen test in the stool. The risk factors for contamination, digestive symptoms and gastroduodenal diseases associated with Helicobacter pylori infection were studied. Results: During the study, 137 consenting patients were included, including 62 men and 75 women; the sex ratio was 0.8. The average age was 46 years, the extreme 18 and 88 years. Epigastralgia was the most common reason for consultation. Upper digestive endoscopy was normal in most cases (43%), erosive and erythematous gastropathies were the most common lesions. There were 109 positive patients and 28 negative patients with a frequency of 79.6%. All age groups were affected. The infection predominated in young patients and in women in 81% of cases. It was associated with type of sanitation, gastrointestinal bleeding and peptic ulcer disease.","PeriodicalId":211573,"journal":{"name":"Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Digestive Disorders","volume":"177 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129572825","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study were enrolled 101 patients with established state of CHB. There were selected patients only in 3 certain phases of the disease, namely in immune active, immune inactive and immune reactivation phases. Human constitutional types used for differential approaches of diagnostics, treatment and control of diseases in traditional Mongolian medicine were determined in all participants according with examination tests developed by Sachs R (1995) and modified by Batchimeg et al. (2003). Results: Most prevalent constitutional types among patients with CHB were single Badgan or Pekan (earth, water) (24.8%) and single Shar or Tripa (fire) (18.9%) types. When patients were classified by dominant humors single Shar dominated subjects presented with 47.5% of patients. Chronic hepatitis B staging classified that 48/47.5% (25 males and 23 females) of patients are in reactivation phase, 35/34.7% (18 males and 17 females) are in inactive phase and 18/17.8% (10 males and 8 females) are in active phase. There was demonstrated significantly increased distribution of inactive phase among single Badgan type patients and reactivation phase among single Shar and dual Shar-Khii type patients (χ2=69.5; p=0.001). Significantly high portion of patients with active phases of CHB was demonstrated Khii dominated humors, while more patients with reactivation phases demonstrated Shar dominated humors and patients with inactive phases – Badgan dominated humors (χ2=55.4; p=0.001). Mean value of serum ALT and AST was significantly low in patients with dominated Badgan humors compared with that of patients with Khii and Shar dominated humors.","PeriodicalId":211573,"journal":{"name":"Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Digestive Disorders","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128525422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although many researches have been indicated animal originated rare cooked foods contain h.pylori [3-6], people still continue their eating habits. Mainly they are aware of the problem but don’t realize how serious it is. The aim of this study is to indicate the perspective of people for eating animal originated undercooked food. Methods: Survey is conducted with 193 (103 male, 90 female) participants above age 10, and all living in İzmir. Questions were explained for each participant and their awareness of preparing safety food and their eating habits were collected. Results: There is a statistically significant relation between information about eating animal originated rare cooked food and eating habits (except red meat). However there is no significant relation between education levels and awareness of health problems regarding consumption of animal originated rare cooked food. Conclusion: This survey indicates that education level does not have significant relation on food consumption habits for rare cooked animal originated food. A complementary education method should be sought to increase the awareness.","PeriodicalId":211573,"journal":{"name":"Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Digestive Disorders","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115807735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
