Marine alga Oscillatoria sp was isolated from Teluk Jakarta Indonesia. The characterization of the functional group with FTIR spectrum showed microalgae have a functional group of O-H, C = O, COO, C-O-C, NH, C-S, C-H and PO43-. Adsorption of cobalt ion was investigated as a function of time, pH, initial cobalt concentration, the dosage of biosorbent, salinity dan shaking. Equilibrium and kinetic adsorption were obtained from the batch experiment. The cobalt adsorption followed the Langmuir and Freundlich, isotherm models. The Freundlich constant (Kf) and n were 0.1186 (mg/g) (L.mol)1/n and 8.43 mg/L, respectively. The maximum adsorption capacity was 4.71 mg/g at pH 8. Oscillatoria sp could adsorb cobalt even at a lower concentration, indicating a good affinity for metal. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption of cobalt ion followed a pseudo-firstorder with k1 = 1.2×10-3 min-1.","PeriodicalId":21010,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87225139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

And still results are very modest in the highly noisy environments. In this study, we propose a new speech parameterization method based on concatenating two wavelet packet decompositions, one decomposition using low Q-factor wavelet and another with high Q-factor wavelet, to extract speech features suitable for ASR task in noisy conditions. Experiments on TIMIT dataset for phonemes recognition show that the proposed wavelet-based features outperform MFCC in all noisy conditions.","PeriodicalId":21010,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83687630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bentonite was activated by HCl, H3PO4, NaCl, ZnCl2, NaOH and KOH use different concentration such as 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5M. Activated bentonite has been characterized by x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive spectroscopy and atomic absorption spectrometry. Bentonite characterization showed that bentonite contains kaolinite, montmorillonite, quartz and cristobalite. Activated bentonite has bigger pores than natural bentonite. Atomic absorption spectrometry showed that H3PO4, HCl, NaCl, ZnCl2, NaOH and KOH can reduce the mercury around 99.99, 99.87, 97.48, 9.24, 99.81 and 99.86%. Dry matter content of the three kernel types were in the range of 93 to 95%. On defatting, the percentage oil yield of the Irvingia varieties were similar and 200% higher than that of Mangifera indica. The antioxidant activity using 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) technique showed that the two Irvingia varieties (DIGK and DIWK) had similar IC50 (p>0.05) but significantly higher than that of Mangifera indica kernel (DMIK) (p<0.05). Likewise, results from the Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) technique and Cytotoxicity assay confirmed the higher potency of DMIK over the Irvingia kernels.","PeriodicalId":21010,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76742440","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of using weapon systems is to harm human life and destroy the property of hostile countries. Naturally, a weapon system involves explosives during its development and operation. As such, manufacturing processes for weapon systems have potential hazards of accidents that can cause fatal damages to humans or property. Some erroneous activities in the manufacturing process can produce dangerous results. For this reason, the safety of manufacturing processes in the defense industry domain is more crucial than other general manufacturing domain. To deal with such a safety issue, in this research, we propose a model-based approach to ensuring the safety of the manufacturing process for the defense industry. The proposal is primarily based on the concept of functional safety and includes the three steps: determination of safety integrity levels; selection of appropriate safety analysis methods; and execution of the analysis methods using SysML models. Using the results obtained in the study, one can identify the risk factors in a complex manufacturing environment in advance to take preventive actions against the potential loss that may arise.","PeriodicalId":21010,"journal":{"name":"Research Journal of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83955195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
