{"title":"Genetic Parameters For Milk Traits In Egyptian Native Cows","authors":"S. Sanad, Mahmod Ghreeb Gharib","doi":"10.21203/RS.3.RS-551865/V1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21203/RS.3.RS-551865/V1","url":null,"abstract":"\u0000 The aim of this study is to estimate the genetic parameters and the effect of non-genetic factors for some milk traits including total milk yield (TMY/kg), Lactation period (LP/day), number of services per conception (NSC), days open (DO), calving interval (CI) and dry period (DP). Data were collected from two farms. Experimental Farm belonging to (APRI) data included 1829 records. The statistical analysis has been adopted using animal models. Actual means of TMY/kg, LP/day, NSC/services, DO/day, CI/day and DP/day were 791.3, 171.1, 1.8, 109, 402.7 and 79.3 respectively. Estimated heritability (h2) of TMY, LP, NSC, DO, CI, and DP were 0.18± 0.01, 0.18± 0.001, 0.07± 0.016, 0.09± 0.041 and 0.09±0.001 respectively. The ranges of breeding values BV of cows for TMY/kg, LP/day, NSC, /services, DO/day, CI/day and DP/day were 776.5, 26.7, 6.7, 13.4, 77.1 and 11.5 respectively. The estimated Predicted Breeding Value PBV for all traits varied widely. The genetic trends of cow breeding values were significant for all studied traits. This confirms that the genetic improvement of these traits leads to increased milk production traits. The study recommends preserving the Native Egyptian dairy cattle because they represent a national wealth that must be preserved from extinction through inventorying the genetic resources, characterization and evaluation of this local breed to benefit from it in improving animal breeds of high economic value. Maklad","doi":"10.21608/asajs.2019.52885","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/asajs.2019.52885","url":null,"abstract":"فی کلا الموسمین و لم توجد اختلافات کبیرة فی طول الإصابع أو طول السوباطة بینمستویات میاه الری المختلفة فی کلا الموسمین. و وجدت اختلافات کبیرة و زیادة فی إجمالی االمحصول / فدان. عند الری 85 ٪ من ETc فی کلا الموسمین. زاد الرش بالأحماض الأمینیة بشکل ملحوظ فی طول الإصابع ، وطول السوباطة ، ووزن السوباطة ، والمحصول للطن / الفدان. مقارنة مع الکنترول فی کلا الموسمین. و تم الحصول علی اعلی انتاج للمحصول طن / للفدان علیه عند معاملة نباتات الموز بالرش جلایسین بیتاین + البرولین تحت المستوى الثانی من الری 85٪ ETc بالمقارنة مع المعاملات الأخرى. أیضا ، ارتفع متوسط کفاءة استخدام المیاه (WUtE) باستخدام 85مستوی الری ٪ من ETc المسجلة (2.96 و 3.19 کجم / م 3) ، تلیها المستوی 70٪ من ETc 2,42 و 2.75 کجم / م 3) ، ثم المستوی 100ا ٪ من ETc 2,26 و 2.45 کجم / م 3) فی کلا الموسمین ، على التوالی. بشکل عام ، یمکن أن نستنتج أن الرش بالجلایسین بیتاین + البرولین تحت کمیة المیاه بنسبة 85 ٪ من ETc کان أفضل معاملة لإنتاج الموز مع تحقیق أقصى کفاءة لإستخدام المیاه تحت ظروف هذة الدراسة. Abstract: The present work was conducted in a private banana orchard located at Badawi district, Mansoura Center, Dakahlia Governorate, banana plants were cultivated 3x3.5 m during 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 growing seasons to study the effect of different irrigation water amount at either 100, 85 and 70% of crop evapotranspiration (ETc) and foliar spray with (glycine-betaine, proline; glycine-betaine + proline) under drip irrigation system in clay loam soils on vegetative growth measurements, bunch weight, yield, fruit quality and water use efficiency, of first and second ratoons of Grand Nain banana plant . The most important results can be summarized as follows: Applied irrigation water registered (7055, 5994 and 4939 m3/fed( in the first season and (7517, 6390 and 5262 m3/fed( in the second one, respectively. Increasing irrigation water quantity increased banana growth characters of both seasons. Glycine-betaine + proline and proline led to significant incremnts in most vegetative growth traits compared to control. First level of water irrigation (100 % of ETc) with application of glycine-betaine + proline had the most significant effect on most vegetative growth characters, in both seasons of study. No significant differences were defected in finger length or bunch length between different irrigation water regemes in both seasons. {"title":"Cost Effective Culture Medium for Micropropagation of Paulownia (Paulownia tomentosa Steud.) and Catalpa (Catalpa bignonioides Walt.)","authors":"R. Different types of culture media including MS, WPM and GD were tested with the addition of BA and NAA at various concentration in the successive micropropagation stages. The results showed that 100% aseptic cultures were obtained through disinfesting the seeds of both plants in 2.5% sodium hypochlorite for 10 minutes. In vitro seed germination rates of paulownia and catalpa reached to 98% and 95% respectively. Paulownia alternative node explants grown on MS medium enriched with 2.0 mg.l -1 BA gave the highest number of shoots per explant (2.46 shoots/ explant). Whereas, the least number of shoots (1.37 shoots/ explant) were recorded for explants grown on GD medium with 00.0 mg.l -1 BA. The longest shoots were found for explants grown on WPM medium enriched with 2.0 mg.l -1 BA (1.39 cm). The addition of BA was increased the number of shoots per explants and the mean length of shoots of catalpa by giving 1.86 shoots/ explant and 1.29 cm respectively. The highest number of shoots per explant 1.92 shoots/ explant was recorded for the explants grown on MS medium with 2.0 mg/l -1 BA. The addition of 1.0 mg.l -1 NAA raised the number of roots per explant by producing 6.84 roots/ explant and the highest rooting percentage (100%) on paulownia micro-shoots grown on WPM. The highest rooting percentage (100%) and longest roots (4.88 cm) were found on micro-shoots grown on NAA-free WPM. The addition of 1.0 mg.l -1 NAA to WPM was significantly effective in raising the number of roots per explant to reach 14.26 roots/ explant and the rooting percentage to 98% for catalpa micro-shoots. Aly","doi":"10.21608/asajs.2019.52887","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/asajs.2019.52887","url":null,"abstract":"تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استبیان تأثیر الکاربابول کمساعد للقاح حمى الثلاثة أیام الذى یتم تثبیطه وقتالتحصین باستخدام الصابونین حیث تم تحضیر الکربابول بثلاث ترکیزات مختلفة (٫0٫1-0٫2-0٫5٪) مع مادة الصابونین بنسبة ثابتة (0٫2میکروجرام/مل) کمذیب خلیط للقاح0 وقد تبین أن مادة الکاربابول آمنة عند حقنها فى العجول ضمن اختبار السلامة لهذه المادة کما تم تحصین ثلاث مجموعات العجول البقرى باللقاح بعد اذابته بالمذیب المرکب من المادتین معا بالنسب المذکورة کل على حده والمجموعة الرابعة باللقاح بعد اذابته بمادة الصابونین فقط بالاضافة الى مجموعة ترکت دون تحصین کضابط للتجربة0 هذا وقد تم تتبع المستویات المناعیة فى الحیوانات المحصنة على مدارفترات متعاقبة باستخدام اختبار المصل المتعادل واختبار الالیزا حیث أظهرت نتائج هذه الاختبارات ان استخدام مذیب الکربابول بترکیز( 0٫2أو0٫5٪) مع مادة الصابونین (0٫2میکروجرام/مل)للقاح حمى الثلاث ایام المجفد قد اعطت أعلى مستوىات مناعیة (3٫12- 3٫14 لو2 تتابعا) , والکثافة الضوئیة (3٫3995- 3٫5026 تتابعا )عنها فى حالة استخدام الصابونین وحده (2٫68 لو2) والکثافة الضوئیة (2٫9432) ولذا یوصى بأستخدام الصابونین مضافا إلیه مادة الکربابول کمحفز مناعى للقاح حمى الثلاث ایام المجفد0 \u0000 \u0000ABSTRACT: \u0000Identification of optimal complex adjuvant and bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) antigen combination to elicit potent, protective, and long lasting immunity has been a major challenge for improvement of the vaccines potency againstbovine ephemeral fever virus. In this study, three different concentrations (0.1, 0.2 and 0.5%) of a cross-linked polyanionic carbopol combined with a constant concentration (0.2 µg /ml) of saponin were used as solvents for the freeze dried BEF vaccine. The immunogenicity of these formulae was evaluated through application of serum neutralization test (SNT) and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) on serum samples obtained from different vaccinated groups of cattle in comparison with those obtained from cattle vaccinated with the BEF vaccine reconstituted in saponin diluent only. The results showed that the usage of (0.2% or 0.5%) of carbopol with (0.2 µg /ml) of saponin as a diluent for the freeze dried BEF vaccine induced the highest levels (3.12 and 3.14 Log2 respectively) of specific bovine ephemeral fever antibodies with long lasting immunity in vaccinated cattle. Fakhry","doi":"10.21608/ASAJS.2019.42725","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/ASAJS.2019.42725","url":null,"abstract":"Background: Chloroform has a potential value as a substitute for thiomersal as a preservative due to its high antibacterial and antifungal activity. \u0000Objectives: Comparative analysis of the preservative efficacy of chloroform and thiomersal in ISA206 trivalent foot and mouth disease vaccine concerning the antimicrobial activity and vaccine potency. \u0000Methods: This study was conducted on 5 prepared ISA206 trivalent foot and mouth disease vaccines, one vaccine prepared with 0.01% v/v thiomersal and four vaccines prepared with different concentrations of chloroform 0.1%, 0.25%, 0.5% and 0.75% v/v. Each vaccine was monthly evaluated by safety and sterility tests for 12 months. Three cattle were vaccinated intramuscularly (I/M) by each vaccine. Serum samples were collected monthly for 12 months. The humeral immune responses were monitored by Serum Neutralization Test (SNT) and Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The antimicrobial activity of chloroform and thiomersal in the five vaccines were determined 12 months post preparation against nine different gram negative and gram positive bacterial strains and three fungal stains. The bacterial strains were Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Micrococcus luteus, Pseudo-monas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Shig-ella flexneri, Salmonella para typhi A and Proteus mirabilis and fungal strains were Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus nigar and Aspergillus pterus. Agar well diffusion method was followed in this study.
