The research was designed as a conversion mixed methods research, which does not highly used in the literature. During the research process, the articles were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection, Social Science Citation Index-SSCI. To analyze the data obtained, independent researchers coded different articles on an Excel worksheet. Following the intercoder reliability process, two themes and eight sub-themes were identified. As a result of the research, it was found that the most preferred methodological paradigms were respectively quantitative, mixed methods and qualitative. One-way ANOVA test results showed that mixed-method and quantitative articles had higher usage statistics than qualitative articles. Moreover, the most preferred mixed methods design was found to be embedded design.","PeriodicalId":207840,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mixed Methods Studies","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127436951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was in convergent mixed methods design with the data-transformation variant. As a sample, criterion sampling technique, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods used in qualitative and mixed methods research, was used. The population of the research was selected as a sample of 13 teachers who met the criteria and wanted to voluntarily participate in the study, among the secondary and high school teachers working at the Campus College within the borders of Antalya province in Muratpaşa District in the 2021-2022 education year.The data in the study were collected by individual interview technique. The interviews done with semi-structured interview forms for 30-45 minutes were recorded and in qualitative strand, the text data were subjected to theme, descriptive and content analysis, and the opinions were categorized under the top and sub-themes. In quantitative strand, after quatifying the qualitative findings based on themes, the frequency of the themes coded were analysed descriptively so as to determine whether it differed according to opinions of the teachers working in secondary school and high school. The results of the research included findings reflecting the views of teachers under the specified themes, and these findings provided clues about understanding the problems experienced by private school branch teachers in distance education, whether those problems differed in terms of types of schools and how to solve these problems.","PeriodicalId":207840,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mixed Methods Studies","volume":"167 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-02-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132794764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research, which aims to determine the validity and reliability of the pedagogical leadership scale, is a mixed method research that includes quantitative and qualitative research approaches as a method. This research used a multi-phase mixed design based on examination through a cycle of quantitative and qualitative research aligned sequentially with each new approach that builds on what has already been learned. It can be said that this research, in which the paradigm of the research, quantitative and qualitative approaches are used, is gathered under the umbrella of pragmatism, which brings together the philosophy of both realism and idealism, which is a final world view oriented to practice whatever works. The universe of the research was determined as the education administrators working in public schools in Karatay, Meram and Selçuklu districts located in the city center of Konya. By calculating the sample size, n=234 education administrators were reached. For the analysis of the data, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes and reliability analyzes were performed. Each participant answered a standard open-ended questionnaire form, “If I am to formulate a metaphor to describe Covid-19 pandemic process as a school manager... I would formulate.... Because..... The raw data obtained from the answers to the open-ended questionnaire were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. School managers formulated 34 different metaphors on Covid-19 Pandemic Process. These metaphors were grouped under eight different conceptual categories with their common features. The categories in question differed according to the gender of participants. Findings provided detailed information on how school managers perceived the pandemic process. Choosing a career directs the individual's future life and thus constitutes one of the most important choices she/he will make throughout life. There are many factors ranging from person to person in career choice. As Turkey is surrounded by sea on three sides the area is known as \"Blue Homeland\". Turkish Coast Guard, which protects this area, has recently become one of the preferred occupational choices. Turkish Coast Guard also offers job opportunities to oceangoing officers who have graduated from maritime faculties. The exploratory sequential mixed methods design synthesized by a qualitative study in phenomenological design first and survey design in the second phase were employed. It was aimed to determine the reasons for the choice of Turkish Coast Guard for the watchkeeping officers. In the scope of the study, 32 volunteer participants, who were employed as Officer Candidates in Turkish Coast Guard, were interviewed. Then, the qualitative results were utilized as the basis for designing a questionnaire for survey data collection. This questionnaire was applied to 102 Officer Candidates. The data collection technique of the research was individual interview, focus group interview, document analysis and delivery of questionnaire. The data was analyzed using content analysis method and Nvivo qualitative research package program in qualitative strand whereas in quantitative strand percentage of descriptive statistical analysis was computed. In this study, the factors and their levels affecting the decisions of Officer Candidates in their career selection were understood and measured. These included the role of their families and friends in their close circles regarding their decision, the impact of the career activities Turkish Coast Guard carry out and their personal motivations.","PeriodicalId":207840,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Mixed Methods Studies","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132736620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
