However, extant research is primarily focusing on technical aspects, such as security and scalability, hence the assumed paradigm shift has not been explored in more detail yet. Focusing on Software as a Service (SaaS) as underlying Cloud model, we conducted an extensive literature review to derive a conceptual model presenting the influence of flexible, SaaS-based business processes on operational agility. Moreover, these processes were classified into three categories, Enterprise Resource Planning Services, Work Support Services, and Decision Support Services. In addition, we conducted ten in-depth interviews with Cloud experts to reflect on potentially missing categories and to substantiate the categories derived from extant literature. The theoretical and empirical parts of our paper reveal that SaaS-enabled processes have a positive influence on operational agility of enterprises which provides first preliminary evidence for the predicted paradigm shift.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123903949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our research context is the Teradata University Network (TUN) community -- the leading worldwide community of university and industry members in the field of business intelligence/business analytics. This research aims to investigate the following research question: \"How to support and improve knowledge sharing and co-creation of innovative teaching practices in the TUN community?\" The paper describes a three-level model of knowledge repository, consisting of (i) instructional resources, (ii) domain-specific learning designs, and (iii) instructional design patterns. In combination, these layers enable design, reuse and sharing of innovative teaching practices, as illustrated in the paper. In addition to making research contributions to educational research and research-led teaching in business analytics, this project also aims to contribute to teaching practice, by improving the current knowledge sharing and reuse of innovative practices.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124574509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Including a wide array of users in the requirements development process for a wide-audience system can help to increase system success. Facilitated group workshops can effectively and efficiently gather requirements from several different users. To decrease cost and increase the number of potential workshop participants, we designed an embodied agent facilitator to guide groups through the facilitation process. We extend previous research which found human facilitated prompting to be effective at increasing the completeness of requirements gathered by replacing the facilitator with an avatar which administered the same prompts. We hypothesize that the avatar facilitated group will also have a significant increase in the quality and quantity of requirements gathered and find support for our hypothesis.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114616488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Businesses can profit by interacting with consumers through these platforms and therefore have a vested interest in consumers continued usage of SNS technologies. To date published research on SNS usage largely assumes males and females evaluate the sites in a similar manner. Drawing from social role theory, our study investigates the neglected context of gender differences using constructs that are theoretically and empirically linked to IT continuance. Our results confirm that gender differences exist. For the sample and context perceived risk and perceived enjoyment had a greater impact on Facebook continuance intention for males. Different antecedents, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and reputation had a greater influence on Facebook continuance intention for females. The results support the assertions of Social Role Theory. Theoretical and practical contributions are discussed.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114869309","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We found that imagining self in a disaster center, Fukushima, Japan, increased the likelihood of sharing crisis information relative to imagining another person, John, in the same place. People's intention to share crisis information by default, without being asked to take any perspective, paralleled the intention to share when taking another person's perspective. Moreover, when the information was associated with negative feelings, such as worry or fear, it was more likely to be shared; when the information was perceived confusing or uninteresting, it was less likely to be shared.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117057253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study exploits the use of Visual Analytics (VA) to enable health professionals to understand heterogeneous injury data and decide about dynamic health situations. Visual Analytics is defined as the “science of analytical reasoning facilitated by interactive visual interface”[14]. We conducted collaborative Paired and Group Analytics sessions to examine how VA assists health professionals in investigating injury data as well as in supporting knowledge construction and decisionmaking. This manuscript reports how stakeholders perceived VA to be usefulness in helping them understand the injury data, get insights and build knowledge that could potentially prompt actions into critical health situations. Future study implications can inform the design of innovative VA tools and techniques that synthesize novel collaborative VA approaches to optimize the decision-making process.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116459547","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It proposes an extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for assessing the effect of social influence and technology readiness on collaboration technology adoption and alternative collaboration technology use. In a first pretest of the proposed Technology Acceptance Model for Collaboration Technology (TAM-CT), using partial least squares (PLS) regression analysis, the empirical results indicate that social influence is of importance for collaboration technology adoption. Both extensions contribute to an improved model and it is shown that TAM-CT can be used for assessing alternative technology use due to appropriation and repurposing efforts.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123203933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We report on a literature survey of crowd sourcing research, focusing on top journals and conferences in the Information Systems (IS) field. To our knowledge, ours is the first effort of this type in the IS discipline. Contributions include providing a synopsis of crowd sourcing research to date, a common definition for crowd sourcing, and a conceptual model for guiding future studies of crowd sourcing. We show how existing IS literature applies to the elements of that conceptual model: Problem, People (Problem Owner, Individual, and Crowd), Governance, Process, Technology, and Outcome. In particular, we explore the physical and psychological barriers that prevent Hispanic day laborers in Seattle from making effective use of computers and the Internet. Based on a mixed-methods study that combined structured interviews, focus groups and observations among day laborers members of non-profit Casa Latina in Seattle, WA, we suggest a typology of barriers to ICT. We also suggest the use of a heat map for ICT training that addresses both the physical access and the emotional capacity barriers faced by underserved communities. Addressing emotional barriers as well as technical skills is critical for these extremely underserved populations to make effective use of ICT in ways that effectively meet their information and development needs.","PeriodicalId":207610,"journal":{"name":"2013 46th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124845525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
