This retraction may also be found in congenital anophthalmos and severe microphthalmos after traumatic events or radiotherapy. Before considering the examination of the retracted socket, some physiopathological aspects of this state must be specified.","PeriodicalId":206710,"journal":{"name":"Operative Techniques in Oculoplastic, Orbital and Reconstructive Surgery","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123588435","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several pathophysiological mechanisms have been proposed to account for the symptoms of PEESS, which include enophthalmos, sulcus deformity, upper and lower lid malposition, and backward tilt of the prosthesis. The authors recommend cosmetic surgical techniques for treating various aspects of PEESS.","PeriodicalId":206710,"journal":{"name":"Operative Techniques in Oculoplastic, Orbital and Reconstructive Surgery","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2001-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115038214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
