Abstract
Post enucleation or evisceration socket syndrome (PEESS) is a frequent complication of enucleation. Several pathophysiological mechanisms have been proposed to account for the symptoms of PEESS, which include enophthalmos, sulcus deformity, upper and lower lid malposition, and backward tilt of the prosthesis. The authors recommend cosmetic surgical techniques for treating various aspects of PEESS.
