These are mainly names acquired from French (also via German), popularised in the 19th century, or words previously borrowed from Latin, but gaining new economic references under the influence of associated and similar Gallicisms. A less abundant, but noticeable layer of Romanisms in economic journalism, are loanwords from Italian, which are internationalisms, mainly preserved, also in the borrowing languages, in their original form. Polonised Italianisms were first assimilated in French (sometimes also in German). This article analyses assimilation methods of foreign common names, such as: phonetic, spelling and inflectional adaptation, replication of foreign morphological and phraseological structures using native formative elements, semantic specialisation of certain names of Latin origin under the influence of related French or Italian lexemes.","PeriodicalId":206692,"journal":{"name":"Białostockie Archiwum Językowe","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132198853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also aims to present the repertoire of the names of children aged 0–2 collected by means of a questionnaire created for the purposes of this research study. The repertoires of female and male children’s names were compared with those of their parents’, which allowed for determining differences and presenting the changes in naming trends over the two generations. The questionnaire created at the platform https://www.interankiety.pl was widespread in Facebook groups focusing on pregnancy, labour and maternity. It was active from the 18th November to the 6th December 2020. A semantic and quantitative analysis showed that the collected material reflects the current fashion in naming: the most popular onyms in the repertoire of names from the parents’ generation, Łukasz and Anna, do not occur in that of children’s names. Conversely, the most popular children’s names, Jan and Zuzanna, were not recorded in the collection of parents’ names. The materialattests to the growing popularity of multiple names and an increasing variety of onyms, which is corroborated by a large number of individual names in the analysed corpus. Parents’ responses concerning naming motivations show that subjectively interpreted aesthetic considerations dominate (65%), followed by the combination of first names and the last name (34%). The third most popular factor was the possibility of shortening names and creating diminutives (31%). Other responses to the closed questions and many extensive answers to the open questions prove that baby‑naming is very important to the modern parent. Parents’ motivations are complex and multifaceted, significantly different from the Old Polish naming practices, as shown by the analysed data.","PeriodicalId":206692,"journal":{"name":"Białostockie Archiwum Językowe","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133183692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The material basis are sound recordings under the common title “Piąte: nie zabijaj” (“The Fifth Commandment: You Shall Not Kill”), published on Justyna Mazur’s online channel, available on the YouTube platform. Addictionally, some comments of Internet users published under each analyzed recording were taken into account. The aim of the study is to show that the authors and recipients of audiovisual materials available on the Internet create a communication community specific to the virtual space, based on the similarity of interests, exchange of information and observations, on the closeness of moral and social attitudes towards crimes, their perpetrators and victims. The article presents the position that Justyna Mazur – the author of the analyzed material – not only makes her recordings available for entertainment or cognitive purposes, but also cares for the constitution of a permanent recipient group that interacts with the material and other participants of virtual communication. It has been shown that the author consciously uses various communication strategies: referring to the shared knowledge of the sender and the recipient, showing concern for listeners, sharing own experiences and observations, or formulating various requests in order to win the attention of recipients and encourage them to actively comment on recordings or interact with the author or other Internet users. The communicative activity in question also fosters the development of criminological discourse by informing a large group of recipients about the events that have occurred, exchanging information and accumulating knowledge on a specific topic. An important aspect that attracts attention when reading the analyzed materials is the linguistic setting of content relating to such sensitive topic as crime. The author, who aptly uses language as a tool can, thanks to her authority, sensitize Internet users to the issue of ethics and aesthetics of expression.","PeriodicalId":206692,"journal":{"name":"Białostockie Archiwum Językowe","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123031434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Words and names distinguish and identify concepts and things, carry a certain meaning, and it is the context that sometimes allows to make the meaning more specific. However, in Korczak’s work it is not that easy, because there is no single, consistent definition of the child, there are many different explanations and explications of the concept in question depending on the situation and circumstances it was located by the author. I will try to show the meanings and connotations of the lexeme ‘child’ used in Korczak’s texts. It must be emphasized that the motif of the child is omnipresent in Korczak’s world, it acts as a dominant in each of the texts under analysis Nevertheless, putting these images together into a single, coherent picture seems impossible for several reasons. One of them is the fact that the child is involved in many different linguistic, cultural, social and generational contexts in Korczak’s prose. The other is the repertoire of linguistic means the author used to define the concept of the child and to create an image of the child to model the ways the child is perceived.","PeriodicalId":206692,"journal":{"name":"Białostockie Archiwum Językowe","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129538947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
