This study assessed constraints of rural women in having access to loan service from micro-finance institutions and loan repayment process by taking Wesasa Micro-finance institution in Dendi District, Ethiopia as a case study. The study employed a mixed research design by integrating quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. The results of the analysis indicate that participation of rural women in micro-finance assisted income generating activities contributes for economical, psychological, social, political, legal, and technological empowerment of rural women in the study area. However, constraints of rural women in accessing loan and loan repayment process should be properly addressed by stakeholders to improve the contribution of micro-finance institutions for achieving sustainable development goals related to rural women in the study area, Ethiopia, and developing countries. In conclusion, facilitating enough amount of loan for the borrowers with affordable interest rate and long time loan repayment period is of paramount importance as rural investments require time to generate income or profit.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114736316","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The management control has for mission the active contribution to the global piloting of the organization, in a prospect of improvement of the performance. Indeed, it is about a facilitator of the generalized decision-making. So, the objective is to discover how the management controller plays an important role in the effective modeling of the management of the economic information, and can even dare to hold the title of member of the strategy and the follow-up of his efficiency. The ground of study is The Moroccan SME- Small and medium sized enterprise (we visit 260 Moroccans companies). The The adopted epistemological posture is the positivism posture, in the frame work of an hypothetical-deductive approach,( theoretical and empirical study). In this article, we shall try to raise some reports on the current state in the Moroccan context. We shall wonder about the capacity of the management controller to play an important role and to represent a real lever allowing the company to aspire to its sustainability. Finally, we shall suggest some avenues for reflection to reorientate our reflection towards the role of the management controller in the preservation of the performance of the teams.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"85 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126018242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population for the study comprised all microfinance banks and small scale enterprises in Osun State. Thirty (30) MFBs were purposively sampled and For Hundred and Fifty (450) SSEs were randomly sampled. Two sets of questionnaires designed to collect data were tested for reliability using Cronbach’s alpha: QMFB (r = 0.89) and QSSEs(r = 0.70). Data were analysed using tables, frequencies as well as simple percentages while multiple regressions were used to test hypotheses one and two at 0.05 level of significance. Degree of accessibility to MFB products was measured using savings account (92%), current account (54.2%) and business loan (52.3%). A regression analysis designed to examine the influence of MFB products accessibility on SSEs’ performance revealed that MFB products accessibility perception jointly predicted changes in SSEs total capital given F(8,318) = 17.936; number of employees F(8,318) = 4.136; sales F (8,318) =15.316; and profit F(8,318) = 15,699; all values being significant at 0.05 level. In conclusion, activities of MFBs impacted on the SSEs in the study area given the predicted values of financial product accessibility on sales and profit but with a limited effect on total capital and number of employees engaged.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"147 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123496170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agriculture is the spine of Ethiopian economy. It contributes significantly to the overall economy in the development process. However, different evidences indicate that yields of crops under farmers’ condition are far lower than the yield obtained under research plots. Lack of active participation of farmers in agricultural research has been one of the major reasons for the low yield and productivity in Ethiopian agriculture. Therefore, this study examines critical factors that inhibit farmers’ willingness to participate in agricultural research in the country. A total sample size of 39 respondents comprising 16 farmers, 14 researchers and 9 development agents were interviewed purposively based on snowball sampling technique. Qualitative research design was used in this research. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions and observations and analysed descriptively. The empirical results reveal that the willingness of farmers in agricultural research is affected by a number of factors. These willingness hindering factors include research types, plans, and objectives; perception of farmers for research and researchers; improper prioritization of farmers problems; problems of selecting potential areas of research; lack of good experiences in the past; absence of proper technology demonstration to farmers during the research process; poor documentation of research process; and weak integration of indigenous and scientific knowledge.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-02-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132005806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This proposal argues that such traits are indeed, embedded in the organizational characteristics whether they are an outcome or input. Organizations are always subject to constraints, threats, imposed changes, voluntary changes. I argue that organizations exist in a chaotic domain, their realization is largely affected and influenced by many factors, and therefore their courses of actions are strategically subject to change and adjustments to the extent of their comprehension. The realization depends largely on the ability to trace initial conditions, required configurations after strategic actions, and the attractiveness of the stranger attractors exist along the way of their path in the chaotic domain. I apply these concepts of chaos theory in the strategic alliance context. I argue that firms may ignore very small changes that may cause a misunderstanding and incomplete realization of the necessary course of actions. Furthermore, firms should not expect similar results of their prior strategic actions, unless they are able to control many variables which seems to be difficult. Firms will be prone to shocks, ups and downs with respect to their performance, depending on their ability to control the path and undergo the required course in response to uncontrollable forces in their surroundings.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130170688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on 57 mothers/daughters dyads responses, this study aims to identify the similarity/dissimilarity attitudes between Jordanian mothers and their young daughters (age: 18-24) towards marketplace activities and marketing practices concerning clothing product. It also tends to measure the relative influences of mothers’ beliefs in marketplace activities and marketing practices on their daughters. The principal component factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to validate the research model. Paired sample t-test and multiple regression analysis using Structural Equation Modeling were employed to examine the research hypotheses. Results revealed that the best predictors of the general attitudes of daughters towards marketplace activities and marketing practices were respectively accounted for mothers’ attitude towards purchasing clothing items on sale, clothing stores preferences, and TV advertising values. Some of the managerial implications, limitations, and suggestions for future research were also discussed.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114936179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research design used for this study was qualitative research approach. Respondents were interviewed using a snowball sampling technique. Data were collected primarily using in-depth interview, documents and analysed descriptively using the principle of grounded theory. The study revealed that research-farmer relationship was affected by resource scarcity and inefficient use; feebleness of the extension system; narrow vision among researchers and farmers; inadequate preparedness to share knowledge; weak coordination among the various actors; poor attention for research; inefficient use of research results; lack of attractive rewarding system and farmers’ attitude for research and researchers. The conclusion is that the number of researchers to conduct demand-driven research was insufficient. Moreover, the scarce resources were inefficiently used by the various stakeholders conducting research that is less relevant to farmers need. The extension system of the country did not encourage researchers to work with farmers. The recommendations from the research is that the government of the country can take actions that can improve the relationship of researchers with farmers by employing knowledgeable, skilful, dedicated, concerned and committed people in knowledge institutes; allocating sufficient budget for research and changing the linear extension system to agricultural innovation system.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133244669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this study we used time series data from 2008-2013. Methods that are used for this purpose are co-integration analysis, regression analysis, correlation and Durbin Watson test which check the long run relation and association among variables. By using these test we examined that FDI, trade openness and domestic capital are positively effecting the economic growth as compared to other variable which is showing negative trend. Important essence of this paper is the requirement of policy reformulation and implication by the government of Pakistan that can be drawn from this paper finding. Government should take solid steps in order to increase FDI, exports and domestic investment and protect industries that would benefit the country’s economic condition. Government should take measures in order to stabilize the exchange rate that may attract more investors for sake of higher profits. Higher FDI inflows in turns fetch more educated labour and replace the obsolete technology.","PeriodicalId":206506,"journal":{"name":"American Journal of Business and Management","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130518791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
