Drought stress reduces the seed to germinate and to grow on different varieties. Response to germination to drought stress is the beginning signal of drought tolerance for several varieties of plants. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the germination response of 16 soybean varieties, to determine the degree of drought stress tolerance of 19 soybean varieties, and to identify varieties that are tolerant as well as sensitive to drought which stimulated by polyethylene glycol (PEG). Soybean seeds were added to sand media containing PEG (6000) at concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20% which were equivalent to 0, -0.03 Mpa, -0.19 Mpa, -041 and 067 Mpa for 8 days. The germination responses by calculating the vigor index, germination, root length, hypocotyl length, root length and hypocotyl length ratio, fresh weight sprouts. Inhibition of germination increases with a reduction in water potential. Each soybean seed tested showed different germination responses which were different under drought stress conditions. The results of 19 varieties showed only one variety which was identified to be drought-tolerant, however, 9 varieties were identified as medium droughttolerant, and 9 varieties were identified as sensitive to drought. The variety that was tolerant to drought was Gepak Kuning. Varieties that were sensitive to drought were Dena 2, Dega 1, Wilis, Edamame, Devatra 1, Devatra 2, Grobogan, Anjasmoro, and Detam 1.","PeriodicalId":20642,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Seminar on Promoting Local Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Development (ISPLRSAD 2020)","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81302281","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sugar cane top can be consumed by cows as much as less than 1% dry matter based on live weight. This due to high lignin content of sugar cane top and difficult to digested by ruminant animals. Therefore, sugar cane top should be fermented first before being given to livestock using Phanerochaete chrysosporium fungi at different levels. Therefore, fermentation using Phanerochaete Chrysosporium fungi is an effort to improve the quality of sugar cane top. The purpose of this study was to determine in-vitro rumen fluid characteristics (pH, VFA, and NH3) from fermented sugarcane tops with different levels of Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The method used in the experimental was randomized block design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were P0: Sugar cane top fermented with 0% Phanerochaete chrysosporium, P1: Sugar cane top fermented with 5% Phanerochaete chrysosporium, P2: Sugar cane top fermented with 10% Phanerochaete chrysosporium and P3: Sugar cane top fermented with 15% Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The parameter measured was in-vitro rumen fluid characteristics (pH, VFA, and NH3). The results of the experiment indicated that the parameters shown significantly different for each treatment of in-vitro rumen fluid characteristics (pH, VFA, and NH3). The best result in this study was at P1 treatment (fermented with level of 5% Phanerochaete chrysosporium) that is the pH: 6.43, the VFA: 116 Mm and NH3: 5.78 M).","PeriodicalId":20642,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Seminar on Promoting Local Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Development (ISPLRSAD 2020)","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81631157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aim of this paper to review some causative factors influenced land use change from rain-fed paddy’s fields to other uses in Bengkulu Province. Writing method was based on secondary data and information from some previous researches observing factors caused paddy’s field conversion to other uses and other related references. The main reasons caused rain-fed rice fields converted to other agricultural land use and non-agricultural uses were water supply limited for intensive rice cultivation, harvested failure, other more profitable agricultural products, family labour lack, and high economic value for non-agricultural land uses. In short, future agricultural land use of rain-fed paddy’s fields in Bengkulu Province toward uncertainty because of land use change to other agricultural cultivations and non-agricultural uses especially for settlement.","PeriodicalId":20642,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Seminar on Promoting Local Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Development (ISPLRSAD 2020)","volume":"40 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91347663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Farmers in this region have planted sweet potato for a long time as a secondary crop in lowland after lowland rice being harvested. Some of them planted sweet potato in upland. Sweet potato farming is an important source of income for the farmers. We have conducted a survey research in Gunung Talang region from September to November 2018. The objectives of research were to overcome the value of inputs and output of local sweet potato farming, and to analyze the farmers’ sweet potato farming locally and financially. We used a purposive sampling method to select the farmers’ organizations to be surveyed considering the large area of its members’ sweet potato farming. The research respondents were the members of four farmers’ organizations (Karya Tani 36 members, Batu Data 36 members, Karya Sari 32 members, and KWT Karya Tani 24 members). The primary data were collected through direct interview with the respondents and direct observation to their sweet potato farming. The secondary data were found through related institutions, i.e. West Sumatra Assessment Institute for Agricultural Technology, Agricultural Office of Solok regency, and Extension Office of Gunung Talang district. Results showed that the real total cost of the farmers’ sweet potato farming in Gunung Talang region was IDR 12,358,655 per hectare. This cost would increase into IDR 24,635,564 per hectare if we calculated the land revenue, interest on working capital, depreciation, rent paid for leased land, and inputed value of family labor. The average yield of the farmers’ sweet potato farming was 22,550 kg per hectare and its price was IDR 2,300 per kg so that the total revenue was IDR 51,865,000 per hectare per planting season. The gross income gained by the farmers from sweet potato farming per hectare per planting season in Gunung Talang region was IDR 39,506,345 and the net income was IDR 27,229,436 with R/C ratio 2.08, and B/C ratios based on full cost basis and cash cost basis were 1.11 and 2.20, respectively. It showed that the sweet potato farming in Gunung Talang region, West Sumatra, Indonesia was financially profitable and might have been a main source of income for the farmers.","PeriodicalId":20642,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Seminar on Promoting Local Resources for Sustainable Agriculture and Development (ISPLRSAD 2020)","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77246607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
